Big Bass
For anyone who likes to crank it up in the car, the JBL® high-output GT5-10 subwoofer is the real deal. The JBL GT5-10 subwoofer features single 4-ohm voice coils and a vented motor structure, and offers 1100 watts of peak power handling. The GT5-10D also features JBL’s newest design, combining classic elements with modern ones.
All-New Design
The GT5-10 follows the design of the more-expensive JBL subwoofers, combining classic elements with modern ones.
Significant Power Handling Capabilities
The GT5-10 handles 275W/1100W (RMS/Peak) power and offers nearly 20 percent higher Xmax than many competitors.
Increased Reliability
With its fully vented motor structure and rubber-coated tinsel leads, the GT5-10 is able to withstand even the most intense bass assault.
Dual-Stacked, Oversized Magnets
Unlike competing entry-level subwoofers, the GT5-10 is based on a solid motor structure featuring two large magnets covered by the classic JBL rubber ring.

I bought a pair of these for a friend. I installed them the recommended sealed enclosure (.75cuft ea) and they were powered with a 320wrms amplifier. Note that the cut out dimensions in the manual is not correct, its actually a bit smaller.
These subs sound very smooth and can get decently loud. This model excels with jazz, light rock, and adult contemporary music (very smooth) but bottoms out in bass heavy types of music.
Overall, my friend likes the subwoofers a lot, they suit his taste of music and for the money they are definitely worth the money.
On a side note, these subs are pretty cheap looking, not that it has anything to do with performance.

I became a car audio junkie relatively recently and while requesting advice on a good budget setup through mainly online car audio formus, I came a across this product. I purchased two of the GT5-10's and a Rockford Fosgate R500-1 Amp. The RMS on these are 275 and the Birthsheet Rated RMS on the R500-1 was 537 at 2 ohms so after wiring the subs parallel, I ended up with an almost perfect match-up. I originally planned to build a custom ported box but due to my lack of tools and carpentry knowledge, I went with a pre-built ported box with 1.2 cubic ft. of airspace per chamber. Install was easy and they look great! They handle the 270ish watts like a pro and sounds awesome! Would definitely recommend!
