Television Type

The type of technology used to produce the screen images. LCD, DLP, Plasma, LCoS, and CRT are the most common. 2 newer technologies include LED and OLED which use light-emitting diodes (LEDs) as a backlight, as opposed to conventional LCD TVs, which use cold-cathode fluorescent lamps (CCFL) for a backlight.

LED technology integrates LCD display technology with LED backlighting. On LED television, both LCD and LED will be selected here.

3D Ready
This means that the television is compatible with 3D images. Some televisions will require special glasses to view the 3D images, while other TVs can display the image without the necessity of glasses.
Screen Size
The screen size dimension is measured diagonally in inches.
Aspect Ratio
The standard ratio of 4:3 (width:height) is one that most are familiar with; however, today we're seeing more models with widescreen 16:9 aspect ratios, which closely matches the most common movie theater screen ratio and HDTV broadcasts too.

Selectable aspect ratio means that the user has the option to choose which aspect ratio they would like. This feature is usually found on televisions.

Resolution (pixels)
A display's pixel resolution defines its ability to resolve fine details. Digital TVs and projectors measure screen resolution in pixels. The higher the resolution, the more detailed the picture will be.
1366 x 1768
The level of brightness; measured in candela per square meter (cd/m2), a calculation that measures light intensity emitting from the screen. The higher the value, the brighter. Some manufacturers will measure brightness in NIT. These measurements are equal. 1 cd/m2 = 1 NIT.
400 cd/m2 (NIT)

Panel Life
The panel life of a display is the length of time that the manufacturer stats that it will work for. It is measured in hours. The time is usually determined after many tests performed by the manufacturer.
WiFi Capable
This feature allows devices to download new software updates, stream video content through various services, or connect with BD-Live features wirelessly when connected with a compatible wireless link.
Internet TV
This is a feature that enables the television (or other display) to connect to the internet to receive a online broadcast or video signal.
Instant Streaming Content
Some devices can connect to the internet for instant streaming content. This feature allows you to receive instant access to different media sources such as Netflix, YouTube, Blockbuster On Demand and more when connected to the network. For more information on the specific content and what they offer, please see the product description.
3:2 Pulldown

This means that the devices will enhance the framerate of older videos to play smoothly on the display set.

Film is usually shot in 24 frames per second with 2 fields per frame. One field for the even lines, and one for the odd. The standard NTSC broadcast is 30 frames per second. To achieve this frames have to be created to sustain a smooth image. So out of every 4 frames, a 5th frame is created by combining opposite fields of consecutive frames, in turn creating a new frame so the outcome will be 30 frames from 24.

x.v. Color
A new color space that allows compatible units to view up to 1.8 times as many colors as sRGB (the previous standard that began in 1996)
THX Certified
THX is a high-fidelity, high-quality, sound reproduction standard. Its superior audio quality is reserved for only the best. In order for a unit or product to be THX certified, strict qualifications must be met to insure the highest quality. If the unit is THX certified, you are sure to be impressed.
Video Broadcast System
Most cameras and displays will be compatible with a NTSC video broadcast system. Others will be compatible with a PAL system. Many units will be compatible with both.
Automatic Brightness Control
Some televisions will feature a sensor built-in to the front panel that will sense the amount of light in the room. The television processor will then adjust the brightness of the panel to the appropriate level.
Comb Filter
A comb filter prevents line bleeding (dot crawl) in televisions. It does this by filtering the input signal and making sure that the colors appear only where they are supposed to be.

Inputs & Outputs

iPod Dockable
This designates if an iPod can be docked the particular device. This feature applies it to home DVD/Blu-ay players, iPod accessories, alarm clocks, and more. When an iPod is docked, it will charge the iPod. Some devices will support the playback of video off of a docked compatible iPod. Some players include a dock or have one built-in, while others require you to purchase it separately.
Front Panel RCA Inputs
This designates if the unit has RCA composite inputs on the front of the unit. Used for the easy connection of a separate Audio/Video device to play through the unit.

Primary Color
This is the main color of the item.
Remote Control
Allows control of specific features and functions from a remote control. Typically they are used to prevent button wear on your radio, or to allow easier navigation of menus.
