True Four Ohm Technology
The engineers are Infinity have developed a speaker that works for all applications. The True Four Ohm Technology used in these speakers make it perfect for running directly of a headunit or with an aftermarket headunit and amplifier. All of the speakers in the Infinity Reference line feature a 2 ohm voice coil. However, when you factor in the small OEM speaker wire of most vehicles and the heating in the voice coil during use, the impedance actually seen by the amplifier will increase. Infinity has adjusted the speaker to be safely connected to any headunit.

I was looking for replacement component speakers for my Jeep Cherokee and came across these. Given the way my initial speakers sounded, I was not expecting a ton, especially in the low end, given that these were only 5 1/4". I was pleasantly surprised, though, when I got them installed. The sound was rich, with more low-end than I thought possible. At the same time, the highs are still well-defined.
I have listened to almost every style of music on these speakers and I would say they do a good job of recreating the material. One warning - if you are looking for a speaker with a lot of kick, these are not for you. They provide a decent low end, but the size really prevents it from really hitting you. You will need a sub if that's your goal. If your goal is just to really hear the depth of your music, then these are a good choice in the 5 1/4" size.
I think the major down-side of these is that they are good speakers. Their clarity will make low-quality or crappy recordings sound absolutely terrible. On the other hand, you will hear things in quality recordings that you never would have heard on a standard OEM system.
The installation was pretty straightforward. The only problem I ran into was more of an issue with the Jeep that the components. The tweeter enclosure on the Jeep Cherokee Limited is very small (barely 1" I think) and I ended up having to just wedge them in with no hard-mount. (There are plenty of included mounting options, though, if you are adding these to a car that doesn't currently have component speakers.)

This is the second set of component speakers I've ever owned. I installed these within a week of getting my new vehicle because I missed the quality component speakers provide, and these speakers are no exception. I'm not an auto audiophile by any means, but these sound perfect to me! I'm hearing things in music I've had for years that I didn't even know were there before!

I bought a pair of these 6 months ago, and I have to say they are very good. I have them powered by an infinity amp they receive 75 watts RMS each. Many people complain that these speakers are too bright or sharp sounding, I only experienced this before my amp was tuned, when properly tuned they sound very clean and accurate. I listen to rock and rap. I can't really think of any cons about these speakers. I would highly recomened these speakers for anyone who wants to hear every detail in their music and wants a good clean sound! Also the aluminum cone will withstand the test of time.
