Amplifier Specifications

Amplifier Class

An amplifier increases the power of the signal being fed to it by taking energy from its power supply and matching the signal but increasing its amplitude. Amplifiers use many different methods for converting these electrical signals and have been categorized into classes.

Class A/B: Greater than 50% of the input signal is amplified while the other percentage is “off”. These amplifiers have a small amount of current flowing through the output transistors all the time which almost eliminates crossover distortion. Class A/B has great sound quality but is not as efficient as class D. These amps are most commonly used to drive speakers.

Class D: Also known as switching amplifiers, class D amps have output transistors that are completely turned “on” or “off”. This means that when the transistors are on, there is almost no voltage across them but when they are off there is significant voltage but no current flowing through it which makes these amplifiers very efficient at the cost of sound quality. These amps are most commonly used to drive subwoofers.

Other Classes: You may see classes such as GH, bD, X, FD, etc. by some manufactures. These amplifiers tend to be either class A/B, D or a hybrid of the two but with improvements to their designs that can make them more efficient or offer better sound quality.

Number of Channels
Each channel on an amplifier will power one speaker using a positive and negative cable. There are various types of amplifiers, each designed to power a certain number of speakers. Monoblock amplifiers, also known as single channel, are designed to power one or more subwoofers. These amplifiers often have very high power ratings. On the other hand, multi-channel amplifiers power multiple speakers, usually at lower power ratings. 2-Channel and 4-Channel amplifiers can power car speakers or low powered subwoofers. Occasionally you might see a 5 or 6-channel amplifier that can power speakers and subwoofers at the same time. Ported / Vented - Ported/Vented Enclosures provide an even boomier, louder bass, but less accurate then a small, sealed box. Ported enclosures typically require more airspace per sub and also less power output from an amplifier to perform correctly.

Bandpass - Bandpass enclosures make subwoofers perform efficiently, but loose. The bass is not as "boomy" as a ported enclosure nor as punchy as a sealed enclosure. Bandpass enclosures work well with lower to mid-level subwoofers.

Good choice for vehicles with pre installed sound systems.

I got 2014 Toyota Corolla with pre installed Panasonic multimedia system and for a regular user it's more than enough, but, the rear 6x9 speakers don't give bass at all. So this product can help in this case very much. It's ideal for DIY people, you just need the wiring diagram of your sound system and with supplied harnesses it's quite simple to install. It's can be installed on any sound system and you don't have to need the RCA low level outputs. The sound is very good, and very low and I just love it. I have an exelent sound without replace the original speakers what is not easy to do and with adding Bazooka it's became just perfect. Great job Sonic.

Awesome Sub-woofer!

This is my second powered sub-woofer by Bazooka. This time I installed it in Honda Fit 2010. The factory installed sound system is good enough for me, but I just need to FEEL the bass rather than hear it. I always listen to trance/techno music, and occasionally hip hop/rap. WOW the sound is fantastic, unbelievable, out of this world, and I can really FEEL it!!! The difference is between night and day. I stream Shoutcast.com internet radio from my Samsung Note 2 connected to the factory radio all the time, since I have unlimited data plan. Sweet!!! I can't get any happier than this, considering how much I spent for this sub-woofer. I highly recommend this product! You will be glad that you install it in your car.

This sub fills out the low end very well. The optional level control is a must have as you can increase or decrease the bass level. It will add some boom but gets distorted at very high levels. I would buy this again. It was easy to install and the instructions were easy to follow. This is the first sub I installed.

Big Bass in Small Space!

Having always been an avid technophile, DJ and lover of LOUD music I decicded I wanted to add some bass to my stock Nissan Cube stereo system. In the past I have always purchased the componenets separately: amplifier, speakerbox, subwoofers, etc... and installed them myself. Due to the area in California in which I live I decided I didn't want to give would-be theives any easy target by installing an aftermarket radio which would immediately stand-out and make my car a prime target for a break-in. So, when I found the Bazooka Bass Tube and read that it could be installed to run off the OEM stereo with the F.A.S.T. harness system I realized it was a PERFECT FIT! I could add that much needed bass reinforcement to my OEM stereo WITHOUT having to buy/install an aftermarket deck! Installation was TRULY a breeze and I am quite impressed with the Bazooka's 10" BIG SOUND and I'm still loving it! I would definitely recommend this item to anyone who is looking to add bass without having to rip out their factory deck such as leases or those on a budget. It's worth EVERY penny and SonicElectronix has it at the LOWEST price I found anywhere!! Thanks Sonic!!!!
