Priced Per Pair

Tweeter Specifications

Priced Per
Car Tweeters are typically sold in pairs so you will receive 2 tweeters for each purchase on tweeters marked "Priced Per Pair". If a tweeter is marked "Priced Per Each" then the tweeter is sold individually and each purchase you make will result in 1 tweeter. High-powered tweeters are typically sold per each tweeter.
Tweeter Size
Refers to the size of the tweeter. Typically, smaller tweeters produces less output with higher frequency response.
Tweeter Design
Designs such as cone, dome, semi-dome, balanced dome, and whizzer are most popular. Cone tweeters are simple, efficient and typically are the most reasonably priced. Dome tweeters are used in most home speakers, and provide a smoother and more accurate sound. Semi-dome design is one with a dome placed inside a cone. A Balanced dome driver is a semi-dome with equal reproduction area given the cone and dome portions of the driver. A whizzer tweeter is a separate tweeter cone driven by the voice coil of the woofer.
Tweeter Composition
Materials such as polypropylene, silk, cloth, and paper are the most common, where as many more recent tweeters are now manufactured with composites such as Aluminum, Titanium, Mylar, and other materials.

PEI is an acronym for "Polyetherimide" which is an amorphous, amber transparent, high-performance thermoplastic.

Flush Mount
If the speaker or tweeter is flush mountable, then it can be installed flush to the mounting surface.

When installing a flush mount tweeter, make sure that there is enough room behind the mounting surface for the tweeter and magnet. Check the mounting depth with your specific vehicle.

Surface Mount
If the speaker or tweeter is surface mountable, then it can be installed to be raised above the mounting area.

When installing a surface mountable tweeters, make sure that there are no obstructions that will prevent the tweeter from being installed correctly.

Angled Mount
If the speaker or tweeter is able to be angle mounted, then the installed tweeter can be positioned at an angle. An angle mounted tweeter can improve the audible sound quality of your system.

When installing a angle mountable tweeters, make sure that there are no obstructions that will prevent the tweeter from being installed correctly.

Peak Power Handling
Peak power handling refers to the amount of power a speaker can handle during a brief musical burst. The RMS power range figure is a much more reliable rating for determining the speaker's power requirements. The Peak power handling specification is typically rated per speaker unless otherwise noted.
90 watts
An efficiency or sensitivity rating tells you how effectively a speaker converts power into sound. The higher the number, the more efficient the speaker and the louder it will play with the same input power. An efficient speaker helps you maximize your available power. Most sensitivity ratings measure the speaker's output with 1 watt of input, 1 meter from the speaker. Some speakers' sensitivity is measured with 2.83 volts of input, instead of 1 watt.
Efficiency (1w/1m) is not an accurate indicator of a subwoofer's output capability and should not be used as a comparison to other speakers or subwoofers to determine which one is "louder".
109 dB
Frequency Response
The range of frequencies the speaker will reproduce (lowest frequency to the highest). Bigger is better, meaning the wider the range, the better. The optimal range is 20 - 20,000 Hz (which is the range of human hearing).
3,000 - 20,000 Hz
Impedance (Per Voice Coil)
The load value (in ohms) that the speakers present to the amplifier per voice coil - the amount of resistance to the current flow. This is a key specification as subs wired in parallel or low impedances can create problems with your amplifier and potentially void all warranties. We encourage you to ask our support department prior to purchase if you do not understand which impedance level will suit your application best.
4 ohms
Top-Mount Depth
The depth when installed on top of the mounting surface. Measured from the bottom of the speaker's magnet to the bottom of the mounting holes on the rim of the speaker.

Good bang for the buck

October 24, 2013

Speakers are very crisp and clean for the price. Your not going to win any competitions if that is your goal but they do add a fantastic presence.
They are a 1inch tweeter but as you can tell they have a large mounting platform.

To our 15 year installer who gave these a bad rating because of the wattage. At fifteen years you would see that it clearly states 90rms a pair. So 45rms each.......

So I ordered 3 pairs of these to use in my car, I have a 2 1100 watt class a/b 4 channel amo, I run the ppi 8" pro audio mids in my car, 1 tweeter per speaker seemed to lack a bit and stay behind, 2 of these per 8" speaker is perfect. I run alot off power to these....Total in car so far are 4 pm.804 and 6 tweeters, One set on the way. These are ok in my book..

Highly recommend this for anyone looking to add a more crisp sound to their setup. Keep in mind that this is much bigger than 1", might not be able to mount on an A pillar. If you have space to mount these you will have no regrets.

Sound Sexy

February 16, 2012

I own a pair of these with four selenium 6.5 midrange drivers and a pair of 15" kicker Comp Subwoofers. I have a Power Acoustik 1600.4 powering both the tweeters and midrange drivers.

One of my managers at the place where I work used to be a certified mobile electronics installer and scoffed when he heard I had separate tweeters in my car rather than co-axials. His theory is that 3-way speakers sound better and smoother than component sets or separate tweeters. I installed everything myself and then had him listen to my system. His eyes lit up when he heard how sexy these tweeters were. In his words, "I still don't like tweeters, but yours sound pretty damn good." If these tweeters can convince a veteran mobile electronics installer, then they should be perfect for your needs. Furthermore, Sonic has a great price on them. I've recommended these for a buddy of mine, who loves them dearly.

These things are so lound and clear, blowing my midrange drivers out of the water in terms of how loud they are. They never pop and I will never get rid of them. In fact, I am building a system right now that has four pairs of these tweeters and sixteen midrange/ midbass drivers.

I will say, that these need an amplifier, but not much power. They're 107 db efficient and take 90 watts, so DO NOT OVERPOWER THESE THINGS.

With proper tuning and proper power, these things will bring so much life to your sound system, I promise.

Not bad

December 1, 2012

One thing to note is that these are not 90w rms - I do not know why Precision does not state the RMS, but a costly trial and error revealed that they will safely handle about 45w rms. Another thing to note is that they are about 3" round! Fitment can be an issue unless you want to cut up panels, etc. They sound good - not the best but for the price, sounds about right. I honestly think there are some other brands around the same price that sound more crisp and clear, speaking from experience. Installer for over 15 years.

Why did you choose this?
Sonic Electronix Store
I needed better tweeters read some reviews on these and liked what i saw
Anna R on Jan 5, 2015
These tweeters had good specs and they perform flawlessly, I love them so much.
Jordan H on Sep 5, 2014
why cant this item be flush mounted?
Darrell J on May 19, 2015
Best Answer: They have a raised lip on the top that really doesn't allow for flush mount applications although my husband placed them in the factory dash mounts of my car. But being flush mounted wasn't a concern for me I just wanted something that could handle what my amp was putting out. These can definitely take some punishment great product would recommend and purchase again.
