The legendary name of Rockford Fosgate continues to impress the audio community and pump out subwoofers and amplifiers that exceed expectations. The T20001bd pushes out no less than 2000 watts continuous power. The birth sheets included with these amplifiers have been known to make hearts skip as the power ratings go beyond the rated value.

If you look under the hood of the T20001bd, the first thing you will notice is the custom TO-247 MOSFETS. These have 60% more metal tab area for more power capacity, lower impedance and improved heat dissipation over traditional TO-220 MOSFETs found in competitor amps. This Rockford amp is also a class bd design that has 75-80% efficiency ratings vs. 20-60% efficiency ratings of traditional class A/B amplifiers. To top it off this amp uses MEHSA (Maximum Efficiency Heat Sink Application) which is a proprietary process that yields better heat transfer than traditional FET mounting techniques. The MEHSA substrate is so efficient at reducing MOSFET temperatures, it lowers distortion, increases durability and results in a prolonged life span.

Bridged Peak/Max Power

Bridging refers to combining two channels on an amplifier to create one channel with double the voltage and an increased power output. A 2-channel amplifier will bridge down to 1-channel and a 4-channel amplifier can bridge to create 2-channels. An amplifier is most commonly bridged to drive a subwoofer.

Remember, once you bridge two channels down to one its final impedance will be 4 ohms unless otherwise specified. This rating lists the Peak/Max power created once an amplifier is bridged.

Amplifier Specifications

Amplifier Series
This designates the series of the amplifier. Many amps are available in a litany of different wattage and channel configurations, but maintain consistent features throughout the product line.
Amplifier Class

An amplifier increases the power of the signal being fed to it by taking energy from its power supply and matching the signal but increasing its amplitude. Amplifiers use many different methods for converting these electrical signals and have been categorized into classes.

Class A/B: Greater than 50% of the input signal is amplified while the other percentage is “off”. These amplifiers have a small amount of current flowing through the output transistors all the time which almost eliminates crossover distortion. Class A/B has great sound quality but is not as efficient as class D. These amps are most commonly used to drive speakers.

Class D: Also known as switching amplifiers, class D amps have output transistors that are completely turned “on” or “off”. This means that when the transistors are on, there is almost no voltage across them but when they are off there is significant voltage but no current flowing through it which makes these amplifiers very efficient at the cost of sound quality. These amps are most commonly used to drive subwoofers.

Other Classes: You may see classes such as GH, bD, X, FD, etc. by some manufactures. These amplifiers tend to be either class A/B, D or a hybrid of the two but with improvements to their designs that can make them more efficient or offer better sound quality.

Number of Channels
Each channel on an amplifier will power one speaker using a positive and negative cable. There are various types of amplifiers, each designed to power a certain number of speakers. Monoblock amplifiers, also known as single channel, are designed to power one or more subwoofers. These amplifiers often have very high power ratings. On the other hand, multi-channel amplifiers power multiple speakers, usually at lower power ratings. 2-Channel and 4-Channel amplifiers can power car speakers or low powered subwoofers. Occasionally you might see a 5 or 6-channel amplifier that can power speakers and subwoofers at the same time. Total RMS power is measured by multiplying RMS power per channel by the number of channels, and is calculated at the lowest level of operating impedance.

RMS power is the amount of continuous power, measured in watts, that an amplifier produces is called RMS power. The higher the RMS figure, the louder and cleaner your music sounds.

The RMS output figure is much more accurate than the peak rating when comparing products.

This is the largest gauge wire that will fit into the power and ground terminals of this device. The lower the gauge number, the thicker the wire is. For example, a 4 gauge wire is thicker than an 8 gauge wire and thus has higher current carrying capacity. Always do your best to get this size wire to reduce the risk of damage to your components.

Speaker Level Inputs
Speaker level inputs are commonly referred to as high-level inputs and vice versa. This input type allows you to get your audio signal directly from the speaker wire in your vehicle, instead of using RCA cables. The advantage of this is factory integration, as most stock radios do not have RCA outputs to run amplifiers.

Preamp Outputs
Many amplifiers are equipped with RCA preamp outputs which pass the original music signal from the source to additional amplifiers. This is known as daisy chaining because the source connects to the first amp, and the first amp connects to the second amp, etc. The advantage to daisy chaining is you only need one 2-channel RCA cable to transfer the signal from the head-unit to the amplifier, and then one additional cable for each amp being daisy chained.

Built-in Crossover

A crossover is a type of filtering system that permits only certain frequencies to play. A Low-Pass (LP) crossover allows only frequencies below its setting to get through which is good in the case of some subwoofers. A High-Pass(HP) filter allows frequencies above its setting to pass through, this is normally used on speakers.

When a crossover is set to FULL it means no filtering is added and the full frequency spectrum is allowed through the amplifier. Filtering is important because feeding a speaker frequencies it cannot reproduce effectively creates distortion.

Low-Pass (LP)
Low-Pass Crossover Frequency
The low-pass crossover frequency is typically used for subwoofers. It can be a fixed crossover point or a variable crossover range. A variable low-pass crossover allows you to select a specific crossover point which allows frequencies below the set crossover point to pass, while making frequencies above the set point gently or harshly roll-off, depending on the steepness of the slope.

The steepness of the roll-off slope is measured in dB/octave and refers to the rate of attenuation (lowering of volume) outside their pass bands.

Allows you to block (filter) ultra-low frequencies that your subs cannot reproduce.

Bass Boost
The objective of the bass boost is to get more kick out of your subwoofer. It is a circuit that emphasizes the lower frequencies at a given point. The bass boost should always be set first before setting the gain. This feature is known for destroying subwoofers and is commonly used incorrectly, so be cautious.

Bass/Gain Remote
If the amp comes with a bass/gain remote you will be able to control the level of your bass from your dashboard. Typically bass remotes also include a 16-20 ft. wire for installation.

This is by far the best amp i have gotten. So great I bought a 2nd one. Puts out loads of power! You will need some batteries to feed this monster cause it will kill your car if you don't. if i can find just 2 more ill be done. Rockford no longer makes this. It stepped up to the T25001bd. You have to get this amp!

I have 2 of these running @.7ohms my electrical isn't the best but after an hour of beating the crap out of them there barely warm! Great amp at a great price I plan on buying another 2 and doing 1amp per coil on a pair of Wardens.

This is the AMP to OWN

This thing is powering 3 P3D412's in the back of my Lexus. And all and say is clear loud bass is all I hear all day. I am running a stock alternator and yellow cap battery and I have one additional amp for my insides, but no power issues. This thing is only turned half the way up and it knocks. A must buy!

I own 4 of these in a ported wall setup. They push 8 12" PG Ti Elite subs @ 1 ohm (1000 rms per sub). I use 2 alternators to charge and each amp has its own battery with an isolated charge to feed them. Voltage still shows drops to under 10 volts (from 15v) when burping. They seriously do need a lot of power; you could never have enough.

Every birth sheet I've ever seen and had for these amps have ranged from 2200 - 2800 watts rms @ 1ohm. Google T20001bd birth sheet and see images. If you have the chance to grab one of these, do it. Just know what you're getting yourself into. This statement goes for the T30001bd and T40001bd amps as well.

i would recommend this amp to anybody who wants real deal beat with real deal power behind there bass.. i have 4 kicker cvrs 2ohm hooked to this beast and there is not an amp on the market that can truly give you this much real real certified rms power, you buy this you will never need to buy another amp for your subs again. i have it in a 99 buick regal gs, and my car is falling apart mirrors cant even use them they so blurry and moving like an earthquake.

one word for this amp, SOLID.

Plenty of power for just about any configuration.
I have this powering two Alpine Type-R 12's in a sealed config.
They are Dual 4 ohm each sub, so i am running a 1 ohm load.
Gain is set to about 1/4, and it is like no other amp i have ever owned.
Suggestion: This is a very power hungry amp, have a beefy ALT, and include an extra battery or BATCAP.

I have one of these and it is powerful. I would put this 2000 against any other amp on the market and will actually push more than what it actually says mine pushes 2800 at 1 ohm . MIND BLOWING POWER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

this amp rocks i have this amp pushing 3 rockford power t1 15's and its turned 3/4 up and it slams them if your serious about bass i would not over look this amp it puts the JL 1000/1 in the dirt...You just have to have the power to push it and 1 battery and the stock alternator will not cut it...

this amp delivers extreme power,forget DD,JL,ect...they dont have anything on this amp. bass pushed my windshield out&shot water in(it was lightly raining)and my windows were 1/4 down. and this was just a test bump!

I used to have a JL audio 1000/1 before it was stolen and I have to say this is better!! The sound quality is better at high volume and there are more features on the amp to manipulate the sound using the remote (which is included instead of having to pay $40 extra as in the case of the JL 1000/1). The birth sheet said it had been tested at 1300 watts @ 4ohms, 2200 watts @ 2 ohms and 2200 watts @ 1 ohm. I have it turned to 4 on the gain and it's blowing my eardrums out. I did get a cap, deepcycle battery and high output alternator for it so I'm giving it a 4 for ease of use though. for $550 it's a steal. It is a bit big though, much bigger than the new T1500 which I looked at so I'm gong to give it a 4 on the rating for that. I'm happy with the purchase though

this amp slams!!! if your serious about bass i would not over look this amp it puts out over 2000watts.You just have to have the power to push it and 1 battery and the stock alternator will not cut it...it a very clean and clear sound it put out too!!!!

has lots of power for the clarion pro audio 15"s(actually to much) and its only wired at 2 omhs total, cant wait to get some better subs wired at 1 ohm to see wut this amp can really do.
you will defintly need a cap for this amp, i have a 6 fared cap and my lights still dim like crazy

I have two bd2000 one I got from a friend the other is brand new I bought in 2009 used it for two months until it fried my factory battery and alternator, I then took it out and kept in storage. I have a 1975 Cadillac elderado which has limited space. at most I can fit (4) 12 inch subs or (3) 13.5 JL's. which would be a good choice?
I have a 300amp alternator with all the bells and whistles to power the amps.
any advise thanks.
