The DEI 556U immobilizer interface module (bypass module) is used when installing a remote starter in vehicles equipped with an RF (Radio Frequency) based immobilizer system. This type of system uses a small chip imbedded in the ignition key, called a transponder, to transmit a very low powered RF signal. This signal is detected through an antenna (or coil) around the ignition switch, which is then sent to the immobilizer's transceiver.

It's a must have for connivance. Cool your car on a HOT day or HEAT it up on a cold night, your car is at the perfect climate every time.

The first alarms I learned how to install we're viper, python, avital, etc. all dei products. So naturally it was DEI modules I would use for oem interface. This particular module is an oldie, but seeing as my car is an oldie (2000 3 series BMW ) I found myself in need of this exact module. What I really like about the 556u is that is has more than one option as far as connectivity and oem interfacing goes. This things work like it shoul and is really inexpensive compared to newer style transponder bypass modules.
