Circuit Breaker Specifications

Circuit Breaker Rating
Circuit breakers are used in place of fuses to protect an electrical device from a overload or short-circuit. Unlike fuses, circuit breaker do not need to be replaced whenever one "blows". Instead, simply flip the switch on the breaker and the connection is safely restored.

The circuit breaker rating is the number of amps that the unit has been rated at. The number of amps on a circuit breaker corresponds to the same number of amps needed when using fuses.

Maximum Input Gauge Size
This is the largest gauge wire that will fit into the power and ground terminals of this device. The lower the gauge number, the thicker the wire is. For example, a 4 gauge wire is thicker than an 8 gauge wire and thus has higher current carrying capacity. Always do your best to get this size wire to reduce the risk of damage to your components.

Maximum Output Gauge Size
This number refers to the maximum size of wire that will fit into the output connector(s) of the capacitor, battery terminal, or any other connector with an wire output.

This product is what we have been looking for, but we are finding where you screw this item into place, the tabs break off very easily. We have had two easily snap right of with out over tightening.

Good product

February 22, 2013

When I received the cb at first I was hesitant in the ability to protect my equipment but after installing it and now using it for a few months its a good buy. The terminals could be larger but I was able to work around that. The ability to open the circuit for repairs or adjustments by the simple touch of a button is a very nice feature. Buy with confidence you won't be dissapointed.

I would tell some one to buy this if there looking to do a battery bank. The only thing I would have to say is lacking is that the hook ups need be bigger to take 0ga. Not a big deal, works great.

I bought a scorpian 250 amp breaker and installed it on a battery bank. However, the red lever is in the down position and would not return to the straight position so that the circuit should be open, but everything works. I am not confident that the circuit will trip if overloaded. Is this standard for this breaker, or iis it likely that the breaker is broken.?

Best Answer: without being able to deliberately overload the circuit, to test the breaker for proper function under overload conditions, I would assume it breaker is not operating correctly. Return for warranty, or buy a new one, because if it fails to work when you need it to, I'm sure it will do more $$ damage than the cost of a new one
