Line-Out Converter Specifications

Number of Channels
Each channel on an amplifier will power one speaker using a positive and negative cable. There are various types of amplifiers, each designed to power a certain number of speakers. Monoblock amplifiers, also known as single channel, are designed to power one or more subwoofers. These amplifiers often have very high power ratings. On the other hand, multi-channel amplifiers power multiple speakers, usually at lower power ratings. 2-Channel and 4-Channel amplifiers can power car speakers or low powered subwoofers. Occasionally you might see a 5 or 6-channel amplifier that can power speakers and subwoofers at the same time. The most common setup is a monoblock amp to run subwoofers and a 4-channel amp to run door speakers. Check out our Knowledge Base for more information.

Decent LOC

July 14, 2009

I had a faulty LOC (Scosche) that was a 4 channel, so I grabbed this one as I only needed the 2 channels. No problems with this one, signal seemed clean, no noise/ground loop that I could detect. It works.

Hey, it works!

July 11, 2006

Great product for the money. Hooks up easy and the gains are easily adjustable with the included plastic utensil. Worth the money for the easy hookups. I did not however understand the gain switching. Probobly just not the best at electronics. But everything sounds great and hooks in easily

January 24, 2010

This converter was just what i needed to complete my system. I thought I was going to have to invest in a whole new head unit, (mine did not have any rca outputs) until i found this handy little guy. Ive had it for about 6 months now and have had no problems.

It Works. But it arrived broken and can't push low range audio.

July 4, 2012

Good news. It worked. Now for the bad. I read reviews that the adjuster knob broke after a few uses. My left channel came broken, so I had no way to adjust it. When i installed it the left channel clearly was lower than the right. The other issue is that it seems like it can't push low audio. (I will need to verify this with another LOC, but I have read plenty of forums where people used other LOCs and the same system my car has and they were fine). I had my sub low-pass set at 100Hz when using RCA cables and at 100Hz using the LOC I heard almost no audio. When I turned the low pass to 130-140 Hz, it seemed like all of the bass was coming through just slightly higher than it should.

Within 5 minutes of opening the package i broke the product, i very lightly turned the gain settings with a plastic scredriver and they broke right off inside the device, a little dissapointing.

LOC-80 Used With Guitar Amp

July 24, 2014

A band mate installed this unit into my amp to have a line out to a PA mixer. I am rather low-tech, but he tapped into the amplified signal at the speaker, and then a cable takes the line out signal from the Scosche to the mixing board. Velcro holds the LOC-80 onto the inner wall of the amp. Has been working fine for two years, guitar sound emits from both amp and PA speakers. Seems rather fragile, but if protected will last. Just bought another one for another amp, so I guess I am recommending it!

so i can use my stock scion tc radio with my sub amp
Thomas B on Dec 26, 2014
can i install this witout an amp ? so i can run a sub without the amp and still set the gain and ?
john b on Jan 24, 2015
Best Answer: Hello John,

The entire point of an LOC is to install an amplifier. Unless the subwoofer is a 'Powered Enclosure' , implying an internal amp, then this will not work. You've misunderstood the use of an LOC. Moreover, if you are attempting to power a subwoofer from just the headunit's power, it will Not work.

Which wires are the positive and the negatives on a scosche loc-80?
A shopper on Aug 14, 2014
Best Answer: GREY is Positive, Right
GREY/BLACK is Negative, Right
WHITE is Positive, Left
WHITE BLACK is Negative, Left

In the instructions that come with the product it states the answer to this question. If you don't still have them, google "loc80_instructions.pdf" and it will be the first result. I would have linked them but the site doesn't like links.
