Give it a 6...

Initially I was impressed with the added advantages of an EQ, but over the last 6 months I've started to notice some very frustrating problems with this particular unit.

Con # 1) It crosses the front/rear channels at 100Hz whether you like it or not. If you already have passive component crossovers, or are using the preamp on your amplifier, you are out of luck with this EQ. There is a button to defeat this crossover, but if you push it, it also turns off your subwoofer gain knob! This part really ticked me off.

Con # 2) The EQ allows you to boost any bass frequency between 40 - 60Hz. This is nice as a bass boost, but it also boosts that bass frequency on the front/rear channels! So if you want to boost your subwoofer at 40Hz, you end up distorting the hell out of your other speakers which certainly cannot handle that kind of boost. What's even worse, this boost knob not only boosts the selected bass frequency, but it also boosts ALL 7 OF THE OTHER BANDS! That wasn't mentioned in the manual.

Con # 3) The remote-on circuit blew about 1 week into owning it.

The features on this EQ completely defeat the purpose of an EQ, which is to flatten your system by only boosting and cutting what you WANT to be boost and cut.

It's OK- Minus the alternator whine

One thing you have to remember about EQ's- for whatever reason they are usually noisy. Meaning, they inject noise, whine, and hiss into your system. But after tweaking my amps down, the whine is to a minimum, the hiss is hardly audible, and the noise is tolerable. One thing I have to say I don't like is the high voltage inputs. It was so noisy, I used filters, grounds, ground lifters, I tried everything, and nothing worked. Finally I bought a high level to low level converter and that worked well. Once I got everything tweaked out I have to say I like it-but it was a hassle getting it there.
