High Output Subwoofer
Known for high impact thunderous bass, the Thunder 8500 sits proudly in the lineup of Thunder series subwoofers from MTX Audio. The Thunder 8500 isn't your average 500 watt subwoofer. A 160oz. magnet is on this subwoofer with a Xmax rating of 22mm.

I had one of these in an MTX spec enclosure and it was great. I had it hooked up to an Alpine PDX 1.600 mono and it hit very hard. If you do buy this sub, make a box with a double thick baffle and tune the port lower than what MTX specifies. You will enjoy the sub way more. The sub just has that sound of a nice subwoofer. It doesn't sound cheap like a lot of other subs are. I would compare this to a Kicker L7. This is probably one of the heaviest subs I have seen too. Its like 40 pounds and it has a flat wound voice coil. This sub never got hot or smelly on the 600 rms and man can it move far. The excursion is ridiculous. Very nice sub. The price could be a little lower though.

My friend has this sub in his 97 eclipse. It is sealed and has decent sq and it get fairly loud for sealed. Personally I would not run this sub bcuz I like more sq than spl but he likes the subs just fine. One more thing, the build quality of this sub seemed to be good im not knocking the product its jst not for me.
