Speaker Specifications

Series
This is the manufacturer product line of speakers.
Kappa (Infinity)
Priced Per
Car Speakers are typically sold in pairs so you will receive 2 speakers for each speaker purchase on speakers marked "Priced Per Pair". If a speaker is marked "Priced Per Each" then the speaker is sold individually and each purchase you make will result in 1 speaker. High-powered tweeters, midrange and full-range pro audio for car speakers are typically sold per each speaker.
Pair
Speaker Size
Refers to the size of the speaker measured in inches. Every vehicle has standard application sizes. Please use our vehicle fitment guide for your vehicle's specific speaker sizes if you do not know them.
6-1/2"
Design
The number of individual drivers in a car speaker. Speakers with 2 drivers are known as a 2-way, and 3 drivers are known as a 3-way. Component systems are often referred to as "separates" because the tweeter is not attached to the midwoofer (main speaker driver) and mounts separately in a location such as a door post. Component systems typically come with an external crossover so you can easily adjust the high and low frequencies sent to both the midwoofer and the tweeter. Center channel speakers are great for those looking to have surround sound in their vehicle.
2-way
Tweeter Design
Designs such as cone, dome, semi-dome, balanced dome, and whizzer are most popular. Cone tweeters are simple, efficient and typically are the most reasonably priced. Dome tweeters are used in most home speakers, and provide a smoother and more accurate sound. Semi-dome design is one with a dome placed inside a cone. A Balanced dome driver is a semi-dome with equal reproduction area given the cone and dome portions of the driver. A whizzer tweeter is a separate tweeter cone driven by the voice coil of the woofer.
Dome
Tweeter Size
Refers to the size of the tweeter. Typically, smaller tweeters produces less output with higher frequency response.
1"
Tweeter Composition
Materials such as polypropylene, silk, cloth, and paper are the most common, where as many more recent tweeters are now manufactured with composites such as Aluminum, Titanium, Mylar, and other materials.

PEI is an acronym for "Polyetherimide" which is an amorphous, amber transparent, high-performance thermoplastic.

Cloth
Woofer Composition
Lightweight woofer cone materials are essential for efficient operation. Poly cones produce exceptional sound and are sturdy against various changes in temperature. Paper cones are very efficient, and when treated for moisture resistance, will perform at a high level. Poly refers to polypropylene, which is thermoplastic or fibers that are polymers of propylene. IMPP refers to injection molded polypropylene, a commonly used process and material in speakers.
Carbon Composite
Woofer Surround
A speakers surround is part of the suspension system. The surround protects the cone and prevents it from being displaced as it flexes out from the basket. It is usually made of a durable material like treated foam or rubber in order to withstand the strenuous job of producing bass frequencies.
Rubber
Peak Power Handling
Peak power handling refers to the amount of power a speaker can handle during a brief musical burst. The RMS power range figure is a much more reliable rating for determining the speaker's power requirements. The Peak power handling specification is typically rated per speaker unless otherwise noted.
225 watts
RMS Power Handling
The RMS power is the amount of power the speaker requires to operate safely and properly. RMS Power Handling refers to the amount of power a speaker can handle on a continuous basis. We recommend powering your speakers or subwoofer with 80%-120% of its recommended RMS rating. The RMS power handling specification is typically rated per speaker unless otherwise noted.
75 watts
Sensitivity
An efficiency or sensitivity rating tells you how effectively a speaker converts power into sound. The higher the number, the more efficient the speaker and the louder it will play with the same input power. An efficient speaker helps you maximize your available power. Most sensitivity ratings measure the speaker's output with 1 watt of input, 1 meter from the speaker. Some speakers' sensitivity is measured with 2.83 volts of input, instead of 1 watt.

Efficiency (1w/1m) is not an accurate indicator of a subwoofer's output capability and should not be used as a comparison to other speakers or subwoofers to determine which one is "louder".
95 dB
Frequency Response
The range of frequencies the speaker will reproduce (lowest frequency to the highest). Bigger is better, meaning the wider the range, the better. The optimal range is 20 - 20,000 Hz (which is the range of human hearing).
45 - 25000 Hz
Impedance (Per Voice Coil)
The load value (in ohms) that the speakers present to the amplifier per voice coil - the amount of resistance to the current flow. This is a key specification as subs wired in parallel or low impedances can create problems with your amplifier and potentially void all warranties. We encourage you to ask our support department prior to purchase if you do not understand which impedance level will suit your application best.
2 ohms
Shallow Mount Installation
This means that the subwoofer/speaker is designed to be installed in areas that do not have a lot of space. Shallow mount subwoofers are typically found under a seat or behind the seat in some trucks.

Shallow mount speakers will typically have a mounting depth of 2" or less, while shallow mount subwoofers will typically have a mounting depth of 3" or less.

No
Top-Mount Depth
The depth when installed on top of the mounting surface. Measured from the bottom of the speaker's magnet to the bottom of the mounting holes on the rim of the speaker.
2-1/8"
Hi-Res Audio Compatible
This feature refers to if the product is capable of Hi-Res Audio (HRA) playback.
Speaker Grilles
A grating or screen of metal or plastic bars or wires, mounted in front of a speaker as protection. If yes, the speakers will include matching speaker grilles. If no, there are no grilles included.

Truly disappointed....

May 24, 2014

Clarity: Great
Design: Awesome

Here's the deal: I purchased these & installed them powered by 100w each.
Absolutely NO bass response!

A few months prior, I purchased the Infinity Reference series 6.5's.

I have had the reference series powered by the same 100w configuration as the Kappa, currently they are powered by the head unit which is 50w.

Either way, the reference series ( which are supposed to be a step down from Kappa) outperform the Kappa all the way around...Frequency response, clarity, presence, etc.

Truly left me wishing I would have purchased a second set of Reference 6.5's, but was really looking for something to handle the mid bass range.

Bottom line: my system sounded just as good before I installed the Kappa as it does now.

Unexpected brilliance from a mid priced speaker

October 28, 2013

I actually shopped for Rockford or JL on this site, was intrigued with infinity. Went to AVI in Lafayette, LA, and demoed them. Was blown away, I knew I wanted them right away! I mentioned this and the sales associate said "why go there? We beat any price!" Then backed it up, where it purchased 2 pair (4 speakers) for (this isn't a typo) $240.00! Thanks sonic electronic for having me check locally to save real money! (And get brand new, not refurbished stuff.

Love My Kappa Speakers !

April 16, 2015

I have waited a several months to write this review. Important details:
Vehicle = 2013 Chevrolet Silverado Ext Cab w/stock HU
Line Converter = Audio Control LC7i
Front Speakers = Infinity Kappa 60.11c
Rear Speakers = Infinity Kappa 62.11i
Sub = 8" Powered Sound Ordinance
Amp = Alpine PDX F-4
The sound this system produces is off the hook ! The Kappa speakers are simply outstanding. Not too bright and the mids will blow you away. They love the power and will not distort even at the highest levels with a good amp. Simply put, you will love these speakers !

Full sound, great price!

June 1, 2015

Installed 2 sets on my 2012 Street Glide CVO. I have had several motorcycles over the years, and tried different speakers, the Kappa's are at the top of my list and I'll use them for every future build. Great Highs, great mids, and great bass. 3 year warranty doesn't hurt either. These speakers are highly recommended on HD sites by enthusiasts and there's a reason. Can't say enough about how great they sound. 2 pairs with a soundstream 4.520 amp and I have to turn them down a lot, they don't lose any quality with power thrown at them, just the opposite!!!

Sound good

May 8, 2016

I'm still trying to dial them in but they are a big improvement over my stock speakers which is not saying much but I paired them with a Pioneer 4 ch amp working at 125 rms a channel and they are loud and clear. Still working on breaking the in and dialing in the mid bass. I have a separate bass speaker to handle the deep bass as these sounded muddy trying to reproduce anything under 120 hz at high volume in my doors but you might get better performance depending on your application.

Why did you choose this?
Sonic Electronix Store
I chose the speakers because I have A Harley street glide stock system and they have a crappy sound.I read the report from another owner of a street glide who said they were a huge upgrade from stock. Harleys stage 3 system was what I looked at but the cost is so so much plus the sound for all that money just did not impress me enough.

What amp would be good to power these speakers?
A shopper on Mar 18, 2016
Best Answer: Depends on how much room you have. I prefer a Class a/b amp as opposed to the d class, I think they have a warmer sound and I had plenty of room under the seat. I have a JBL 4channel 80w per channel and they crank, good mid bass.

do these require a amp to run them since they are 2 ohm coaxials?
ashton h on Jan 23, 2016
Best Answer: Hello,

As all our customers have explained, no amplifier is needed. To that point, the impedance of a speaker doesn't determine the "need" for an amplifier. In fact, generally speaking, the "need" for an amplifier comes down to YOU and whether you wish to achieve the full performance of a given speaker. For example, although your factory stereo can power these speakers just fine, you won't magically be getting 75 watts RMS out of each speaker, because your stereo can only provide a fraction of that. So, technically, you will only be powering the speakers at a fraction of their potential. Surely you see where this is going.... =]

Best Answer: Used the Metra's on my 04 classic and fit real nice working with the 6.5 Polks I put in. Can use original speaker screen. Take care removing screens not to damage for reassembly. There may be lock tie on the original speaker screws making them very tight, fyi.

Best Answer: •I'm using two of these amps with Polk speakers in small convertible. Ones is powering a 10” Polk sub and the other amp is powering Polk component speakers. This Amp are great for tight installations. I don’t think you will regret purchasing this for your Hog. The amp should drive your Ininity speakers nicely. Ride Safety.

i have 2003 xjr jaguar and want to know why these wouldn't fit?
J R on Feb 3, 2015
Best Answer: Hello Jr,

According to our installers, it depends on the location you wish to install the 62.11I. The only location it will fit is the Rear Deck; However In order to mount a speaker in this location, you will need a bracket (Scosche SA69) and you may need to modify the speaker bracket by grinding off some material. Also, the factory dual voice coil subwoofer in this location receives only bass frequencies from the amplifier and If replaced with an aftermarket speaker, the aftermarket speaker will only reproduce bass. The 62.11I will not fit the Front & Rear Doors because it is a bit too deep, and it seems that only speakers with a depth of equal or less than 2" will fit well, and will need the help from the Scosche SAC656.

2 way vs 3 way car speaker witch is better powered with a infinity kappa 4 amp?

Best Answer: Hello Humberto,

Neither is "better" than the other. If one were better than the other, then THAT particular setup would probably be the Only option offered. Like all things car audio, the 'best' choice comes down to YOUR application and what works 'Best' for YOUR application.
