Speaker Box / Enclosure Specifications

Subwoofer Size
Refers to the diameter of the subwoofer, measured in inches.
12"
Subwoofer Cutout Shape
This is the shape of the enclosures cutout hole and defines the style of subwoofer that can be installed.
Round / Circle
Box Type
Represents the style of the enclosure. Be sure to purchase the appropriate enclosure type and internal volume that will be compatible with your subwoofer's recommendation.

Sealed - Sealed boxes are those that have no holes or vents in it. The only hole in a sealed box is where the subwoofer is installed. Smaller sealed boxes require more power than a larger sealed box. They provide a tight, accurate bass, while the larger sealed enclosures provide a "boomier" and louder bass.

Ported / Vented - Ported/Vented Enclosures provide an even boomier, louder bass, but less accurate then a small, sealed box. Ported enclosures typically require more airspace per sub and also less power output from an amplifier to perform correctly.

Bandpass - Bandpass enclosures make subwoofers perform efficiently, but loose. The bass is not as "boomy" as a ported enclosure nor as punchy as a sealed enclosure. Bandpass enclosures work well with lower to mid-level subwoofers.
Sealed
Number of Subs/Speakers
This value represents the number of speakers or subwoofers that the enclosure accommodates.
1
Box Style/Shape
The box style or shape refers to the actual shape of the box. Square and rectangular boxes are straight-edged boxes on all sides, whereas hatchback and truck style enclosures feature an angled front or back design that allows for installation in places short on depth such as single cab pickup trucks. You can also use such enclosures in hatchback cars or other vehicles where space is a premium. Tube and cylinder shaped boxes were made popular by Bazooka and are a great option for those looking for a nice amount of bass without sacrificing lots of space. They may even fit in locations that slim truck boxes cannot fit in. If the enclosure is vehicle specific, we encourage you to read the product description to find out which vehicles the enclosure is made for.
Square/Rectangle
Cutout Diameter or Length
The actual diameter of the hole in the subwoofer box. Length is the measured length per side of a square subwoofer or speaker opening.
11-1/8"
Maximum Speaker Depth
Your subwoofer or speaker must not exceed this dimension in order to properly mount in this enclosure.
11.25"
Total Box Volume
The internal volume measurement in cubic feet before subwoofer magnet displacement.
1.0 cubic feet
Box Volume (Each Chamber)
This is the total air space inside each chamber of the empty subwoofer enclosure. By matching this value with the recommended air space of the subwoofer, you will be able to know if the subwoofer will match this box.
Height
The height of the item, measured from top to bottom, in inches.
12"
Width
The width of the item from left to right (side-to-side) measured in inches.
16"
Depth
The front-to-rear depth of the item, in inches. If the item is angled or slanted, this value is the bottom measurement.
13"
Wood Thickness
The thickness of the wood the enclosure is made of, measured in inches.
3/4"
Terminal Type
Spring clip terminals work best with bare wire connections with small-gauge speaker wire, or pin-type connectors.

Binding post terminals are a sturdier, more versatile type of speaker terminal. Because binding post terminals are are threaded, you can tighten them down against the wire or connector for a tight, clean connection. The most popular style of binding post terminals is known as a "5-way binding post". This type can accept bare wire, or any of the common speaker wire connectors. Binding posts with the option to be used with banana clips are even more versatile

Spring posts are a hybrid of the two. Instead of using a thread and "screwing" them tight, they use a spring to allow the wire to fit and tighten against the terminal.

Binding posts (banana clip ready)
Box Exterior Color
The color of the enclosure's exterior/outer finish.
Black
Box Finish
The material used on the outside of the box. Most boxes are carpeted to prevent exterior scratches; however vinyl is popular as it can often be color-matched to a near exact look of your leather factory interior.
Carpet
Compatible Vehicle Make and Model
The model of vehicle that this vehicle specific product is designed for. Please keep in mind that engine variations can affect the compatibility of the products.

Sub Box, 6 months later

March 22, 2012

Overall I've been very happy with this box. It seems pretty responsive and seems to be sealed properly. Though I'd still highly recommend it, I have had two minor issues with it:
1. The first day I had it hooked up my bass kept cutting out. Took a look and the back side of the terminal (on the inside of the box) were loose, creating a poor connection. Simply tightened it up with a screwdriver and haven't had issues since.
2. I just noticed that the carpeting is starting to pull away in 2 spots. Granted, it's pulling away where I usually grab the box to move it, which I do fairly often.

Overall though, I'd recommend the box if you're needing a sealed, compact box for a 12" sub.

Great Sound

June 23, 2013

Filled box with fiber and mounted Infinity Kappa 12". Compliments the music perfectly with 500W mono amp. Plenty of boom if you want it.
I sealed inside seams whether it needed it or not. Would have been tough to fabricate myself for the price. Good value

Solid Box for the price.

May 7, 2013

I have an alpine type R in this box and it sounds great. No issues with splitting or separating even with a 1300 watt infinity amp pushing the type R. Very great value. I would have more in just supplies if I were to make this myself. I would highly recommend this product.

Good Box

February 14, 2013

This is a well built box. Very sturdy. Accidentally dropped a few times and it didn't even phase it. I used it with a 12" Alpine Type R and it did ok for being sealed. Of course after I went to a ported box, I got a lot more output out of the sub.

good box

November 21, 2012

I really liked the box. Bass was really tight and precise. Pros: tight bass and hit real hard sounds good in SUV also it was a little small for me but if you are tight on space as i was, this box is the one for you. Cons: Little small. It will slide around a little, so take my advice and mount the box down or you could velcrow it to the carpet other than that it rocks

June 26, 2012

I would recommend this product to any of my friends for the simple fact that it was inexpensive. They usually say, you get what you paid for, but in this case you get more than what's expected. I've been running 1 Alpine Type R 12" in this enclosure and could not be happier. The box is on the smaller size but is perfect for allowing my subwoofer to maintain that tight and accurate bass. I am for sure going through Sonic Electronics for future subwoofer enclosures!

Basic Good Box

April 17, 2012

I bought two of these to house my Infinity Kappa Perfect 12d VQ subs. They fit great and looked good. One of the boxes has a slight leak of air when in use from the top where they "glued" the corner...this I will fix later with a sealer from the inside. Other than that...worked great!

good little box

January 3, 2012

The box is perfect for the simple enclosed box setup. The volume is small, so I just added some polyfill and now the box makes the sub's bass sound clean, with a good solid punch. So having polyfil will help with subs that need the cubic vol, if getting this box.

Great box

December 26, 2011

This was a really great box, it was well built and was airtight. Carpeting was very nice. I used this for an Alpine Type R 12" was all I could have asked for. I have now upgraded to a ported box, and of course it's a lot louder than this but hey, it's ported. I would totally reccomend this box to a friend.

1cubic foot sealed enclosure

September 16, 2011

I have picked up this enclosure from here. I must say the fabric matched my car fabric to a T and this box also no kidding around made my sub sound twice as better then it did in my old fiberglass box it was first in.
