I replaced my old deck with the x591 and it was night and day difference. This deck is great . I'm thinking about upgrading to the 9 series. Can't go wrong with Kenwood! I paid 60 bucks for mine off of ebay. What a deal! Don't know much about the filters and all that, but it sounds great without an amp.

This deck was a big upgrade from my old factory deck. The sound difference was amazing. I also love the usb and aux inputs. It might take a little to getting use to, but other than that this deck is awesome.

i bought this rciever because i had a tight budget and could not afford much more. it is very appealing to the eye and the pictures don't do it justice. the only down fall with this product is that in direct sunlight the sceen is barely visible and when the volume is turned up past 24-25 u can see the screen dim slightly every time the bass hits. I believe that this is happening because i'm running 4 kicker speakers directly off the recievers built in amp and their pulling alot of juice. i hope to eventually hook up an amp to the back speakers. All in all this reciever puts out great sound whether you are listening am/fm or a cd. GREAT BUY FOR THE MONEY!!!!!

the amount of tweaking you can do at this price point is great. it plays just about any kind of disc no problem! I love the high and low pass filters.
The only 2 downsides is (very minor!) that its a bit tricky to set everything up the first time like the clock, filters, and the balance/fade. the other downside is if the sun is shining directly onto the display you cannot read it very well.
Otherwise I'd recommend it for any level of system you have in your car
