Typically all factory stereos, even premium systems, protect original equipment speakers by reducing bass output when the volume is turned up. That's acceptable in a factory system, but it hurts low-frequency performance if you want to upgrade your factory stereo by adding amplifiers and subs.
The MTX reQ bass restoration module senses the input level from the factory stereo, adding more bass at high volume levels, while keeping bass response balanced when the volume is low. Now you can truly improve your sound while keeping your factory stereo and your steering wheel controls in tact.
The MTX re-Q connects to the speaker outputs of your factory stereo. Additionally, its stereo and subwoofer preamp outputs connect to your amplifiers. Included are individual gain controls for the right, left, and sub outputs, plus low-pass and subsonic filters to maximize your sub's performance. A bass enhancement switch lets you add some additional bump in your ride when needed.
Product Features:
- Signal processor restores bass when adding amps to a factory system
- Perfect when adding amplifiers and subwoofers to an OEM (original equipment manufacturer) factory sound system
- Right, left, and subwoofer preamp outputs
- Low-pass and subsonic filters
- Bass Enhance switch

This does the job. I currently have a 05 Magnum RT w/ Nav. I didn't want to get a Double Din radio b/c I didn't want to shove out $1k for one w/ all of the options. I used it to run my 3.5" dash, 6.5 doors, 6x9 rears, and 2 amps (sub/speaker). Works great, haven't had a single issue. For you people out there looking to keep that stock appearance this is the way to go. Don't pay JL and Rockfords prices... The re-Q 5 maybe a little bit better b/c it has iPOD integration but overall great product. A++

Just installed this in my outback running a sundown sax1200 and a tc sounds lms-r and am more than satisfied. If you dont know already you cant swap out the radio in the 05 outback with the auto climate control unless you want to buy a 350 dollar bezzel + a new stereo which is just wrong. This product saved me a large chunk of money and i get to keep all my factory stuff which is a plus. It simple and easy to use. If your looking to add bass on a budget this is the way to go.

I purchased and installed this product in late February, early April. It has performed well beyond my expectations. I am currently running an Audioque 2200d @ 1ohm too 4 15" Kicker cvr's in a ~12 cubic ft. box tuned at 36hz in my tahoe with of course the stock radio. Search youtube for my videos of my system doin work with the MTX re-q. If you want to add aftermarket amps but don't want to loose the factory look then get this product, you won't be disappointed!

I own a 99' BMW 5 Series. No way I wanted to lose steering wheel controls or mess with the dash. Tried to use a regular PAC converter and thought I would never get the sound I was looking for! Boy was I wrong! Installed the re-Q with a 600 watts D-Class Sony Amp and a 12" Memphis sub and I am very happy. The low end missing from the OEM head unit was back and the ability of this unit to give the right amount of bass at lower volumes is amazing. Highly recommend this unit. Considered the 4-channel unit but getting all 4 signals from my head prove to difficult. Don't quite understand the before and after amp switch on this unit but I set mine for before amp.
