iPod adaptor for C5 Corvette

I have only used the cables to connect where my CD changer was located in the trunk. Works like a champ. Plan to install the adaptor at the head unit at some point.

This is just what I needed. iPod hook up was simple and the end results made this addition worth the effort.

Review

Installed in a C5 Corvette. Installation fairly easy. Had read about battery drain, and my battery died after about 6 months. Probably no coincidence. After determining that I was having a battery problem, I found less or no drain when I unplugged the iPod and switched to FM or CD prior to exiting the car. One or both addressed the problem. Sound is great, and beats the cost and hassle of trying to retrofit with a new stereo. Would definitely recommend.

Useful Product - not up-to-date though

The nice part about the product is it does allow me to use my iPod with the factory GM Bose stereo. The down side is that you have to realize that the factory stereo (2001 Corvette) was never designed to operate a device via a USB port let alone control that device which leads to the negative comments. Forget about controlling the iPod via the factory stereo consistently, sometimes you can forward or replay a song on the iPod using the forward/backward buttons but it is best to use the iPod for such functions. Why? Because the interface freezes and then you get nothing until you power off the stereo, disconnect the unit and reverse the steps - think hard reboot of a PC. Work around? Use the iPod to control the iPod and the stereo to control the stereo. This can be difficult since I "mount" the iPod in the center console, but it would be worse if I had chosen the glove box!!!

Great Value and Great service

I would recomend this product for anyone wanting to connect an MP3 player or Ipod to an older radio that has a CD player but no connection for the other.
I works great and now instead of 1 CD, I have hundreds on hand with my MP3 player..

QUALITY HARNESS

I have purchased this harness six months ago to use in my 2003 Corvette Z06. I have used it in a combination with another module as an iPod adapter. Works great and Sonic had the best price.
