Customization with Boston Acoustics G3 Subwoofers
Boston Acoustics' G3 series subwoofers provide deep, crisp, responsive, and quality bass that has come to be expected from a high-end company like Boston Acoustics at an affordable price. Featuring Soft Part System (SPS™) technology that will allow the removal of soft parts in case of an impedance change when adding more subs, repair if the voice coil fails and is damaged, and it also allows for customization by allowing the basket and back screen to be removed from the motor structure. This will then allow the option to paint, chrome, or even powder coat to make your subwoofer really stand out. G3 series subwoofer also feature SureSet™ impedance selection that makes wiring easy and accurate as well as adds protection from overdrive to the voice-coil, and a RadialVent® cooling system that decreases heat dissipation as well as distortion cause by thermal discharge. This improves the subwoofer's ability to perform at higher power handling levels while still producing quality bass output. Absolute steal. If you are choosing between a few sets of similar priced woofers, this is the one you are looking for. I have it in a sealed enclosure running off an Alpine PDX 1.600. Do not be afraid to throw some watts at it. Im running 600 RMS. However, like most subwoofers, it requires break in time. It took about two weeks for it to fully break in. I also noticed a 30 to 40 percent increase in "loudness." I have owned several woofers before including the alpine type R, and the Jl w3. Out of all of them the Boston is by far the best. Type R yes indeed was a little louder, but just didnt sound as clean as the G3. The W3 I believe is similar to the G2. Sounds ten times better than any kicker cvr or cvx. If you are choosing between a few woofers around the same price, get the g3.

I just got this sub yesterday. i have just one in a sealed ground shaker box and it sounds amazing. Puts out nice clean bass but can also deliver power when needed. if you're looking for a sub that gives clean undistorted bass at moderate power this is the sub you need.
