I saw reviews of this woofer blowing out almost immediately, but bought it anyways. I love this thing, I turned the gain all the way down on the amp and my bass setting on my stereo for almost week, and slowly got it to where I like it over the course of 2 weeks. No blow out and awesome bass. In a sealed box my mirrors shake so bad I can't see out them. Would definitely recommend to a friend.

Okay, my friend purchased this sub with a hitron amp that was 50 watts below the rated rms power and within the first two weeks the sub blew! the bad part was that we were only breaking it in, not even blasting. So he let me salvage it and I found that it was a fried voice coil. Now Boss is a pretty good brand, I have a monoblock powering my 1200W Kenwood 12" and it puts a nice dent in your eardrum. This was just one of those quick projects that boss was trying to put together REALLY CHEAP. Other than that, boss is okay. Just not this sub..

okay first of all don't hate on boss because they don't have high quality s***. boss is a brand where you can get decent sound for now and upgrade later. THEY ARE NOT COMPETITION SUBS!!! I would recommend boss to anyone looking for a little thump on tight budget.

I purchased two of these subwoofers on a whim thinking they would help give my installation the additional bass I was looking for. I fed each subwoofer roughly 250-300 watts RMS from the Boss CX1250. When driven close to the rated power this was an affordable fix for my need for bass.
I've been surprised with how these subs can sound in the right box and driven with some decent power. Thanks Sonic!

I bought two of these subs, and a boss amp as well. the amp only had about 300 watts rms, so i figured since the subs say 400 rms a piece they should handle the amp no problem. they both blew within two weeks, the first one went within a week and the second, about a week later. I also bought boss speakers with it, 2 6 1/2" speakers and 2 4x6" speakers, they all have also blown. i then replaced everything with pioneer subwoofers and speakers and they sounded great, untill the BOSS amp blew. bottom line, everything that i bought that was BOSS, blew within either a week or 2 months. and Honestly, all of my pioneer stuff sounds WAY better than ANY of the boss speakers OR subs. These subs CANNOT hit low notes, I can't even explain the sound they make when a low note comes on, it's almost like it bottoms out and sounds very hollow, like the sub is about to explode almost. and that's just what happened ! and no, when i say the sub blew in one week, i don't mean i pushed them as hard as i could the first week, they were barely used and when they were used they were never up past half volume. I DEFINITELY would NOT RECOMMENDED ANY BOSS PRODUCTS. Since then I have owned Kicker subs, Pioneer subs and speakers, everything else sounded great, amazing compared to boss.
