When replacing your factory radio with an after-market car stereo, the Scosche VW01B wire harness is a must for a quick and clean installation. It eliminates cutting your OE radio plug. After connecting it, your install is simple as the wires will color-match and easily connect to the after-market stereo. Without the Scosche VW01B, you would have to cut the OE radio plug and manually test each wire to connect to your after-market receiver.
In addition, because you do not have to cut your OE radio plug off, the VW01B allows you to reinstall your factory receiver if necessary. A great example is if you sold your car, but wanted to keep your after-market radio and re-install your factory stereo receiver. We also recommend the Scosche BOBAZT for a quick connection that is sure to last.

If you are planning on installing an aftermarket headunit in any vehicle, get a vehicle specific wiring harness like this one. Keeps the original harness in tact, while giving you new wires to connect to your head unit. Makes installation a lot easier and cleaner, while having the option to revert to your stock unit if needed. Don't cut your factory wiring harness. Do it properly and get one of these.

This harness was required by my AVIC-X920BT installer to complete the install. I definitely recommend this to anyone.

This wiring harness works just fine in my 04 Pontiac GTO. Read the notes that come with it though, you may need to add or remove a wire or two depending on your application. Overall a solid piece.
Oh, and unless you're really crunched for time and don't care too much about having an install that will last for the length of your components, solder and heat shrink wrap your connections. Not hard to do or learn, soldering gun is $30-something and you won't have to worry about your connections coming loose or degrading later in life.
