The JVC KW-AVX840 is the perfect option when it comes to in-dash double din A/V entertainment receivers. Now it’s not just a CD/DVD Player, it can also playback DVD-VR, MPEG1, MPEG2 and JPEG Pictures. By being compatible with so many different types of media, it gives you the ability to play just about anything. This unit comes with the proximity sensor. This sensor will allow you to hide the on-screen menu when your hand is away from the screen and then reveal the menu when your hand approaches it. This is helpful when you don’t want a bright screen in your car while driving at night.
The unit comes with built-in Bluetooth making your life easy without having to fumble around with a cell phone while driving. Integrated Bluetooth allows you to pair phones, headsets and other portable devices for audio streaming and hands-free calling. Not only does it have built-in bluetooth, it does allow you to play your iPod via the USB Input. All you need is the standard USB-to-iPod cable and you are set for iPod audio playback.

I ordered the JVC KW-AVX840 last Thursday from Sonic Electronic and received it the next day. This is the fastest delivery that I ever seen.... Thanks Sonic Electronics!!!
Regarding the JVC KW-AVX840... I had it professionally installed at Best Buy... The head unit itself is really good... I like the screen size and the image quality. The sound quality is awesome!!! Much better than the stock radio... The touch panel is really responsive... I do not see any lags at all... I like all the functions on this HU. The only issue that I'm having is as follow:
I was not able to get any video and sound to display through my wife's iphone 4 (using JVC KS-U30 cable)... I than tried setting "AUDIO INPUT" to "A/V IN" and "VIDEO INPUT" to Ipod... This allowed me to display both video with sound... But this only worked when I used the "External Mode" after using Motion X software... I have to close out Motion X software first and than go to play video. It will not work if I don't use Motion X software first or if I have my Car engine turned on (with emergency break on). I even tried rebooting my iphone 4 and turning the car engine on and off... I think this is a really strange behavior.
I also have Voice Command issue... I also tried using my Android phone and it still have the same issue. It does not pick up the correct voice command... If I say: "Call Art Cell" it will dial a different number. I see this issue on my wife's Iphone 4 and my Android cellphone. If I use the voice commands on both phones by them self.. it works just fine... It was able to pickup voice command correctly. But if I tried it again using the microphone provided by the JVC head unit, it will not pickup the correct voice command.
I also had a backup camera installed onto this HU... it works perfectly!!!
I bought this HU for the bluebooth hand free calling and music streaming, and the ability to connect a backup camera...
I really think this is a good HU... But I wish that it would be easier to setup... It took me three days to figure out how to get video and sound to display correctly using my wife's iphone 4. I also wish that the "Voice command" can pickup the correct commands...

This head unit is sweet for the money. I have no regrets in buying it. The only issue is the bluetooth for some reason doesnt work all the time. If i make a call from my phone (not the head unit itself) the head unit wont read the call. It will still Bluetooth the call but no display will come up. On top of that i use my phone for all of my music. The Bluetooth is awsome when it wants to work. The phone will be connected but no sound coming out of the speakers. So i have to disconect then reconect. Sometimes i have to shut the car off completly to get my Bluetooth connection again. I'm going to take this up with JVC to see what the problem is. Other then that, this thing is sick. 99% happy with this unit.

I have only had the unit for 1 week, but so far it has exceeded my expectations. It was an upgrade from the factory radio in my tundra. I left the OME speakers and added a sub and amp and wow, what a difference. I like the detectable face and the touch screen works great. The menus are easy to navigate and the blue tooth works great with my Android phone... audio and phone. The ability to adjust the background colors is neat as well. I only wish it would allow you to watch the eq bounce. I recommend this unit for the price.

I bought this one to replace a stolen AVX 740. Although it is a great unit. I don't like the fact that you can't turn it off (there's no on off switch, anywhere).
As I have a sub and an amplifier which receive on signal from it, there's no way to turn them off unless you take front panel off this unit. So if I only want to keep it there for backup camera use, I have to keep my amps on, which I don't like.
