I love the sound. It takes time and some reading (manual isn't the best) to get it set up. My only real problem is that my smartphone (Motorola Blur) doesn't work well with it. The Bluetooth works fine but my phonebook is in a continuous download mode. It downloads fine and 20-30 seconds later it starts downloading again and again etc. The download screen is annoying and I really need the clock.
It drove me back to my old phone which is not a good thing. Anyone else having this problem?

Nice stereo
Overall a great product. Not the easiest to use but once you get used to it, it's not bad. Bluetooth capability works great except when doing voice text. Maybe cause I have a convertible.

Looks Like It came with the truck
The Kenwod eXcelon KDC-X597 looks like it came in the truck, it has great sound and fit very well. If I need a radio in any of the other 2 cars I have this would be the one I would get.

nice stereo but...
So I figured that buying this headunit would completely eliminate the need for any cords since I have music on my phone. WRONG. The built in Bluetooth on this piece does not support media streaming. Had I known, I would have went with a cheapo Kenwood and bought the $125 Bluetooth adapter that DOES stream music via Bluetooth.
Other than that, as usual, its a really nice head unit. Love all of the other features and I would highly suggest someone buying this if they only want to use the Bluetooth for phone conversations.

my awesome Kenwood
This is a great after market blue tooth radio. I have a 97 Chevy truck and it works great in it and the sound quality is awesome. I drive a lot of dirt roads and my wife can still hear me clearly. I love it.

Great Headunit!
I bought this headunit about 8 months ago and it is amazing! I have it hooked up to a 4 channel amp and a mono block amp, and it has such clarity in the speakers. The only downfall about it is that the bluetooth mic doesn't have perfect clarity, but other than the bluetooth mic i have no complaints! Love it, has tons of options to tune your music just how you want!

Excelon For The Win!
I have been using and installing Kenwood Excelon for many years now and have been thoroughly impressed. I have been selling them at MSRP via retail locations, and explaining the value of the "bang for the buck" that customers receive it's hard to keep them in stock! Now that I find them at these prices it's a "no brainer" of what head unit to buy! All the features one could want and/or need for complete system control, USB, Aux in, on board crossovers, sub control, etc, etc, etc. Bottom line is great deck, great features, great price!

Kenwood kdc x696
Normal install. Nothing complex. Went into a 96 maxima. The beauty ring would not fit, but who cares. Sonic included a dash kit which was nice. Its pushing pioneer 6.5 and 6x9 coax, the more expensive ones from sonic too. Sounds great. Lots of eq modes and custom one too. BT was a bit tricky to set up but got it after 10 minutes. The BT does try to sync with the car off and the phone is 20 feet away. Not sure why. Also the power antenna goes up anytime the car starts regardless of radio being on. Prolly miswired something. No problems with the BT mic.
