Power Specifications - Full Range Channels

RMS Power @ 4 ohms

The RMS power rating is the measure of continuous power that an amplifier can output, or a speaker can handle. It is the most accurate depiction of real, continuous power that the industry has so far.

If the final impedance of your speakers or subwoofers equals 4 ohms, this is how much power this amplifier will supply at that ohm level. The higher the RMS wattage, the more clean and loud your music will sound.

100 watts x 4 channels
RMS Power @ 2 ohms

The RMS power rating is the measure of continuous power that an amplifier can output, or a speaker can handle. It is the most accurate depiction of real, continuous power that the industry has so far.

If the final impedance of your speakers or subwoofers equals 2 ohms, this is how much power this amplifier will supply at that ohm level. The higher the RMS wattage, the more clean and loud your music will sound.

150 watts x 4 channels
Bridged RMS Power

Bridging refers to combining two channels on an amplifier to create one channel with double the voltage and an increased power output. A 2-channel amplifier will bridge down to 1-channel and a 4-channel amplifier can bridge to create 2-channels. An amplifier is most commonly bridged to drive a subwoofer.

Remember, once you bridge two channels down to one its final impedance will be 4 ohms unless otherwise specified. This rating lists the RMS power created once an amplifier is bridged.

300 watts x 2 channels

Power Specifications - Subwoofer Channel

RMS Power @ 4 ohms
The RMS power rating is the measure of continuous power that an amplifier can output, or a speaker can handle. It is the most accurate depiction of real, continuous power that the industry has so far. If the final impedance of your speaker(s) or subwoofer(s) equals 4 ohms, this is how much power this amplifier will supply at that ohm level. The higher the RMS wattage, the more clean and loud your music will sound. The 5th channel on these particular amplifiers are usually dedicated for driving subwoofers.

Amplifier Specifications

Amplifier Series
This designates the series of the amplifier. Many amps are available in a litany of different wattage and channel configurations, but maintain consistent features throughout the product line.
Razor (Power Acoustik)
Amplifier Class

An amplifier increases the power of the signal being fed to it by taking energy from its power supply and matching the signal but increasing its amplitude. Amplifiers use many different methods for converting these electrical signals and have been categorized into classes.

Class A/B: Greater than 50% of the input signal is amplified while the other percentage is “off”. These amplifiers have a small amount of current flowing through the output transistors all the time which almost eliminates crossover distortion. Class A/B has great sound quality but is not as efficient as class D. These amps are most commonly used to drive speakers.

Class D: Also known as switching amplifiers, class D amps have output transistors that are completely turned “on” or “off”. This means that when the transistors are on, there is almost no voltage across them but when they are off there is significant voltage but no current flowing through it which makes these amplifiers very efficient at the cost of sound quality. These amps are most commonly used to drive subwoofers.

Other Classes: You may see classes such as GH, bD, X, FD, etc. by some manufactures. These amplifiers tend to be either class A/B, D or a hybrid of the two but with improvements to their designs that can make them more efficient or offer better sound quality.

D
Number of Channels
Each channel on an amplifier will power one speaker using a positive and negative cable. There are various types of amplifiers, each designed to power a certain number of speakers. Monoblock amplifiers, also known as single channel, are designed to power one or more subwoofers. These amplifiers often have very high power ratings. On the other hand, multi-channel amplifiers power multiple speakers, usually at lower power ratings. 2-Channel and 4-Channel amplifiers can power car speakers or low powered subwoofers. Occasionally you might see a 5 or 6-channel amplifier that can power speakers and subwoofers at the same time. The most common setup is a monoblock amp to run subwoofers and a 4-channel amp to run door speakers. Check out our Knowledge Base for more information.
5
Total Peak Power Output
The total peak power output is measured as the wattage per channel multiplied by the number of channels, and is calculated at the lowest level of operating impedance.

It is measured during a brief musical burst, such as a sudden drum accent. Some manufacturers display peak power ratings on the face of their products to increase the appeal.

The RMS power rating is more accurate, and we recommend using it for product comparison.

2500 watts
Total RMS Power Output
Total RMS power is measured by multiplying RMS power per channel by the number of channels, and is calculated at the lowest level of operating impedance.

RMS power is the amount of continuous power, measured in watts, that an amplifier produces is called RMS power. The higher the RMS figure, the louder and cleaner your music sounds.

The RMS output figure is much more accurate than the peak rating when comparing products.

600 watts
Maximum Input Gauge Size
This is the largest gauge wire that will fit into the power and ground terminals of this device. The lower the gauge number, the thicker the wire is. For example, a 4 gauge wire is thicker than an 8 gauge wire and thus has higher current carrying capacity. Always do your best to get this size wire to reduce the risk of damage to your components.
8 AWG
Minimum Impedance Unbridged
The lowest impedance the amplifier will handle when it is not bridged.
2 ohms
Minimum Impedance Bridged
The lowest impedance the amplifier will handle when it is bridged.
4 ohms
Speaker Level Inputs
Speaker level inputs are commonly referred to as high-level inputs and vice versa. This input type allows you to get your audio signal directly from the speaker wire in your vehicle, instead of using RCA cables. The advantage of this is factory integration, as most stock radios do not have RCA outputs to run amplifiers.
Yes
Preamp Outputs
Many amplifiers are equipped with RCA preamp outputs which pass the original music signal from the source to additional amplifiers. This is known as daisy chaining because the source connects to the first amp, and the first amp connects to the second amp, etc. The advantage to daisy chaining is you only need one 2-channel RCA cable to transfer the signal from the head-unit to the amplifier, and then one additional cable for each amp being daisy chained.
Built-in Crossover

A crossover is a type of filtering system that permits only certain frequencies to play. A Low-Pass (LP) crossover allows only frequencies below its setting to get through which is good in the case of some subwoofers. A High-Pass(HP) filter allows frequencies above its setting to pass through, this is normally used on speakers.

When a crossover is set to FULL it means no filtering is added and the full frequency spectrum is allowed through the amplifier. Filtering is important because feeding a speaker frequencies it cannot reproduce effectively creates distortion.

Low-Pass (LP)
High-Pass (HP)
High-Pass Crossover Frequency
The high-pass crossover frequency can be a fixed crossover point or a variable crossover range. A variable high-pass crossover allows you to select a specific crossover point which allows frequencies above the set crossover point to pass, while making frequencies below the set point gently or harshly roll-off, depending on the steepness of the slope.

The steepness of the roll-off slope is measured in dB/octave and refers to the rate of attenuation (lowering of volume) outside their pass bands.

35 - 250 Hz
Low-Pass Crossover Frequency
The low-pass crossover frequency is typically used for subwoofers. It can be a fixed crossover point or a variable crossover range. A variable low-pass crossover allows you to select a specific crossover point which allows frequencies below the set crossover point to pass, while making frequencies above the set point gently or harshly roll-off, depending on the steepness of the slope.

The steepness of the roll-off slope is measured in dB/octave and refers to the rate of attenuation (lowering of volume) outside their pass bands.

35 - 250 Hz
Bass/Gain Remote
If the amp comes with a bass/gain remote you will be able to control the level of your bass from your dashboard. Typically bass remotes also include a 16-20 ft. wire for installation.
Yes
Fan Cooled
A great feature to have if an amp generates a large amount of heat. Cooling fans can help regulate the temperature to prevent the amp from overheating (burning).
Fuse Rating
The amperage and the number of fuse(s) an amp requires.
40A x 1
Strappable
Some amplifiers can be "strapped" together in order to increase the output of a single audio channel. These amplifiers feature RCA preamp outputs, allowing you to pass the signal directly from one amp to the other to ensure consistency.
CEA-2006 Compliant
Amplifiers that have been tested to meet specific standards. When a car amplifier meets these standards, you can be sure that it will be able to produce the amount of power specified by the official CEA-2006 rating. Usually, these rating consist of the following items:
  • RMS Power
  • Signal-to-Noise Ratio

This rating applies to both external car amplifiers, as well as the amplifiers inside of in-dash stereos.

Hi-Res Audio Compatible
This feature refers to if the product is capable of Hi-Res Audio (HRA) playback.

Powerful amp at a great price

September 11, 2014

I purchased this amp and installed it nearly 2 months ago. It never shuts off or overheats and I drive more than 2 hours every day for work. Installed in my trunk, ran a 4gauge power cable that I trimmed slightly to fit, and run it hard for hours at a time. Recommended if you are using for personal enjoyment. Note that the instructions are not clear on how to wire the remote power on. You must connect this to the white wire on the remote bass level potentiometer.

Small package with a lot of volume

January 23, 2014

I have been looking for a small amp because I don't have a lot of extra space in my 2000 GMC 2500 Ext Cab - and wanted a digital amp because i was concerned about heat. It has been 20 years since I had an amp that wasn't factory and so far I am thrilled with this product. It has only been a week since i installed it so I can't really comment on durability but I am truly impressed with the amount of power this puts out.

Currently it is running a set of Infinity 6.5 components in the front, Infinity 4 x 6 door pods, and two Infinity 10 subs built in a down firing enclosure that I made.

I am not an audio file but this system sounds awesome and is perfect for my eclectic tastes. I am still working to get the gains set properly and play with the high and low pass filters. I will have to do a little more research on the best method to do this by ear and not trigger the protection circuit which I have done twice.

The only issue I had during the installation is that the amp will only take an 8 gauge power feed and I had already ran 4 gauge in anticipation of getting another amp and that the terminals screws were Phillips head screws. Not a big deal and for the price I paid I am not going to complain.

Just to be complete this amp's source is a Pioneer Avic D4 (pretty old) and I usually listen to an Ipod or bluetooth through a Motorola TK30 - provides Ipod and Bluetooth.

GOOD BUY

June 26, 2014

This thing will power your whole system and the thing is tiny. I am running NVX speakers, front components in front and 6x9 in rear and a NVX VSW104 subwoofer. everything runs good. i just don't believe that the 600RMS @ 2OHMS. I tried the box on a 400rms kicker and it hits harder. But for the price, this is a good buy for a all around system and easy to hide. oooo and it just gets warn with 2hrs of play.

big power small package

February 11, 2014

First of all its small. It could in any ride. I'm running pioneer D series components up front and orion HCCA components in the back and it pushes them loud and clear. The sub channel is most impressive. I was running 2 JL 12W6 V2 subs in a sealed box wired at 4ohms and iwas amazed at how hard it pushed them. Love this amp! Especially for $150. Also a friend has a JL 5 ch he paid $550 for and he was impressed with this amp.

Power Acoustik RZ5-2500D

May 17, 2015

This little amp is probably a bit overated in wattage but is very clean and runs very cool. Been running it for over a month now. The small guage wires are a little annoying but i have big fingers so it just takes a little longer to fumble my way through it. The instruction manual needs to be in a larger font as I had to literaly use my cell phone to zoom in on it to see what the diagrams were but being made in north korea, i guess they need to save ink for more important things like propaganda...overall, great amp for the value

Unlucky guy

July 17, 2015

It seems that I am the only unlucky guy who has bad experience with this amp. I am from Bosnia and beside all difficulties (Bosnia is out EU; had to be patient with shipping...) I decided to get this 5-channel amp. It's specification and customer comment were OK. Finally, after almost two months I got it. After installing it with professional installation kit I realize that subwoofer and one channel do not work. Other three are OK and sound seems correct. Still it is in warranty period but I am not in favor to use it because it would be another frustration for me (at least I should wait for two months to have some feed-back). I wish other customer who buy RZ5-2500D to have less bad luck than I did...

No problems

July 24, 2015

Does what it says, first install I've done alone and no problems yet. Runs cold never heats up too much I don't think, so definitely a D-class.
Only powering a sub through one channel at the moment, will be wiring all speakers to it soon.

IMPORTANT: the remote turn on wire to connect to your head unit is the wire that's connected to the bass control knob. Plug the bass control knob thing into the amp, find the 'white?' wire (I think it's white) and connect that to the remote wire you should get from a wire install kit, super easy.

I can't vouch on how much this thing actually powers, apparently they over rate it, but it's powering 2 10' pioneer shallow mount subs in the 5th channel pretty well.

The tuning knobs are easy to turn and such, almost too easy, but they don't move so it's good.

Great compact amp

August 10, 2016

This is a pretty amazing sub for the price. It is very compact and fits perfectly under my honda accords seat. Everyone thought I replaced my stock speakers after being powered by this puppy. I am also using the 5th channel to power a sub. I don't think that the power output quite measures up to the advertised outputs, but it still packs a punch and provides plenty for my needs. The connectors and wires are pretty cheap and hard to work with, but is a minor inconvenience, especially when you consider the price.

A word of caution

July 21, 2016

First off, I am not against Power Acoustik, I have used their amps for a long time now with no issues.

I purchased this amp because of the limited space in my vehicle first and formost. But then I realized that this amp was greatly over rated in terms of power. It holds one 40 amp fuse, and there is no possible way it can produce anywhere close to the power stated even in terms of rms. Simple math for it is 40 ampers x 14.4 volts, and you get 576 total wattage this amp is capable of under the absolute best power conditions. That being said, I am sure it would work well, as the rz1 1500d amp I purchased has been a very quality amp. However, it has two 40 amp fuses installed in it, doubling the power it is capable of producing. Just wanted to share this information with every one looking at this amp as a possible purchase option.

Nice and small but puts out good power. I bought this amp for my Harley while my JL Audio HD900-5 was getting repaired and it wasn't as clean but it still played pretty clean for what I paid. Also, I had it running a pair of 6.5" 2ways, 6"x9" 4 ways and 2 8" subs.

Nice Amp, but the ratings are way off

March 17, 2016

For the $$$, yea, nice amp. But I put an oscope on this and this is not getting anywhere near the RMS ratings. I even used a power source at 14 volts and at best it was doing 65 watts x 4 and right at 250 on the mono. I wanted a cheap system in my hunting vehicle. Overall for money, can't complain, but I don't understand how these companies are stating numbers taht are nowhere near close. I thought there were electronic standards?

Past experience with Power Acoustic amp proved to be a well performing amp with pleasing results, and a great amp at a great price

its the right amount of channels and the right amount of wattage to what i need, seemed to be at a very reasonable price

Installed the 2 channel version in a friends P/u on two kicker 10" subs that someone gave him and the power was unbelievable for the buck. Now I'm looking to do something relatively simple and inexpensive for my '79 old school corvette.

Proven amp that friends had used. It can power my whole system effectively. 4 Fosgate 6.5" 2-way and 1 10" Eclipse sub.
Justin B on Aug 20, 2015
Hi, I was wondering if the two power inputs are B+(12V) and GND. If so, does the amp turn on automatically when audio input is received? Or should the positive terminal connected to accessory 12V instead of battery 12V? Thanks!
Htet Cho O on Jul 31, 2014
Best Answer: When you are hooking up this amp you hook up your 12v to power and ground to ground. There should be a small white wire that comes off the bass boost remote terminal. Connect that wire to your remote wire of the stereo. The instructions that come with the amp have no information on that white wire or what to do with it. Hope this helps. Great amp runs my whole system!

I have a Ford Expo with 4 alpine type-R 5x7's( 100watts RMS) in the doors. I want to run two Kicker DVC 12's in a ported box will this amp be able to handle all of this? I had a 2 channel 300 watt Power Acoustic previously powering 1 Kicker 10 SVC and it handled Great. These are great amps I just want to be sure I'm getting the right one.
Phil12 on Aug 8, 2015
Best Answer: I have 2-12" kicker subs 2-4x5, 2-5"doors and tweet all Polk. This amp runs it all and could do much more. I'm not into bass to blow the eardrum just great sound. It should do well and amp is small so mounting is easy in tight places. Just mop! I wanted 1 amp to run it all and it works great!

Can I use 4 speakers at 4 ohm and a subwoofer at 6 ohms? And if so, what would it drop the power ratings down to for the subwoofer?
RANDAL F on Apr 4, 2016
Best Answer: Yes this set up will work however the output to the sub would be less than 400 watts not sure exactly but I'd guess around 200 watts, if you want to keep the watts up for the sub just replace it with a 2 or 4 ohm Sonic has good prices on its subs. The amp itself is powerful if you haven't got one yet you will be surprised at it s size and weight.

Hello, I am new to the car audio world and have a question:
Can I run 4, 4 ohm speakers and 1, 2ohm subwoofer with this amp? Or does the subwoofer also need to be 4 ohms?
Thanks!
Garrett A on Jan 26, 2015
Best Answer: I just installed Mine Monday I have 4 kicker 6 x 9 running at 4ohms and a 12in woofer duel coil so I have it running at 2 ohms and its handling fine..also this thing is tiny with the perfect amount of power.

Planning to upgrade my current set up, please help me with few questions
1 my head unit only got 1 pair of rca (red and white), how can i connect the HU and amp?
2 If i use speaker inputs(front and rear speaker cables) to signal the amp will the subwoofer be working aswell?
3 do i need a power cap?
4 i drive every weekends 7-8 hours back to home from work, will it get hotter after few hours?
Thanks in advance
vipin m on Mar 19, 2015
Best Answer: Hi Vipin,

Not a good idea to mix preamp outs with speaker level outputs. If you don't have enough rca's, upgrade the head unit. I put in a JVC head unit with 2 sets of 4.8V preamp outputs for around $140. Speaker level outs always pick more noise and distortion.

No need to get a power cap, optional. Finally, I've had my PA Razor for 9 months and I drive it hard. It is far better than the $700 JL 5x500 amp I had before. It is also much more efficient and my lights never dim like they did when the JL hit a low note. I drive one hour each way to work and back and the Razor is lukewarm at best when I get where I'm going. I mounted it in the trunk so it might get hot if you put it under a seat.

Best luck to you. Hope this helps

Can I run this amp sub channel at 4 ohms?
A shopper on Aug 19, 2014
Best Answer: Hello,

The final impedance of the channel is determined by the Subwoofer and how it is wired. There is nothing you can physically do to the amp to make it 4ohms. So, for example, if you have a Dual-2ohm subwoofer wired in Series to a 4ohm load, then the amp will see that automatically and provide the power related to that.

Can i just connect my Front and rear speaker out put from headunit to amplifier and rca preouts(sub/rear) for subwoofer inputs in the amplifier. will that work fine without any distrotion or lack in quality i dont want to change my headunit?? Thanks in advance
vipin m on Mar 20, 2015
Best Answer: Yes that will work. But I would just do it with a hi Lo converter tho. Just pull out your radio and put it back there instead of having to run 4 sets of speaker wires to the amp location
