Advanced Built-in Navigation by Garmin

Navigation has never been easier. With the Kenwood eXcelon DNX9960 you will get Garmin navigation and Navteq traffic as soon as you properly power on the unit. Being the leader in GPS navigation, you can trust Garmin to accurately get you to your destination in the fastest and simplest route. The internal NAVTEG traffic tuner will guide you around congestion and helps you avoid accidents. The large database of points of interest (POIs) help you find restaurants, hotels, gas stations, banks, and other areas of interest. The navigation in the DNX9960 will help you drive with confidence every time you leave your driveway.

Hands-free Talking Included

True hands-free talking is waiting for you. Kenwood has joined with Parrot to integrate advanced Bluetooth features into the Kenwood DNX9960 so you don’t have to pick up your cell phone in your car. Once a Bluetooth phone has been paired, the headunit takes over. Dial, scroll phonebooks, view incoming and outgoing calls directly from the 7” screen. When a phone call comes in, simply answer the call and the call will take of the vehicles speakers. It is as simple as that. And if that isn’t enough for you, the DNX 9960 allows for A2DP audio streaming for music playback from Bluetooth enabled devices.

Superior Sound and Advanced Audio Options

Music never sounded so good. Inside the DNX9960 are advanced audio processors that enhance the music playback. User definable presets and tuning allow the system to be tuned exactly the way that you like it. Using a 24-bit digital-to-analog converter and a 13-band Equalizer, digital music has never sounded better. No matter if you are playing high quality CDs or low bit rate MP3 files, the Kenwood DNX9960 will enhance the audio properties for excellent audio playback. Lets not forget about the 5.1 Dolby Digital processing and DTS decoding will allow you to experience in-car movies like never before.

Excellent

This an amazing head unit. It has everything you can imagine. It does take some time to figure out all the options but once you get it down its pretty simple. It has so many options its unreal. The resolution is amazing. The sound is SUPERB.
The blue tooth works like a charm. I have yet to have any issues with it. Everybody says the boot up time was really slow and about 36 seconds. I found that it actually boots up faster like 10 seconds or so which works just fine for me. The Garmin is so easy to use. I definitely think this is worth my money!!!!!!!!

Dodge 2500 07'

The following review is for a previous version (DNX9140).

I installed this HU in my vehicle 6 months ago and so far I have not had any issues with it. Overall the number of features that are available is great. It tied in seamlessly with the stock wiring harness with the recommended adapter and after a bit of easy soldering and following directions it all connected together and worked the first time around.

I integrated my Sirius (plug and play really) as well as a back up camera with little difficulty (again a bit of soldering for power and ground). Overall I like the options that are available and in themselves they work great (GPS is quite accurate - Garmin), however the interface that tries to get them to work together is a bit of a hassle to navigate through at first.

Eventually though you will find the short cuts and become acquainted with the interface for what it is. If you want a HU that can control separate zones and play them simultaneously (such as radio front seat and DVD back seat) then this may be the unit for you. Just be aware that you initial immersion into its interface, voice activation and operating methods may be a bit of a learning curve at the start and you'll begin to wish that it had more set-up options available to the user.

Awesome Unit

Took a little time to figure some of the head unit out, due to so many options, but the sound is amazing, GPS easy to use with a lot of features so far very accurate. Bluetooth very nice, clear sound and everyone that i have talked to says my voice comes through very clear. DVD video very good picture and will play several video formats. voice activation very nice feature when i can remember commands. Overall very very nice unit.

Way better than I thought

The following review is for a previous version (DNX8120).

When I bought this unit I had my doubts.

They were all smashed when I installed it.

Right out of the box the SQ was way beyond the Pioneer D3 I was using.

There are many menus but this radio is not for some one who just plays cds and listens to am radio.

If you are a tweaker and love to mess with time lignment,eq settings, and other sound shapping tools this is for you.

The people that gave the radio bad reviews must not be to tech savy.

I love it

DNX9104

The following review is for a previous version (DNX9140).

I would highly recommend this unit. I have recently installed this system in my 2007 Dodge Ram 2500 4x4 as I opted to go without the factory navigation system. While the install required a new dash panel found online for about a hundreds bucks, the installation was very straight forward and took me about six hours. Most of the time spent was deciding on the placement of the antennas for gps, xm and the rear camera placement. Sonic Electronics recommended a wire harness adapter that made the connections much easier and everything works great, the parking break sensor is easily run to a vehicle ground and works for watching all video while under way.

Pros:

Voice commands take some getting used to but work well. Garmin navigation is the best. Sound processor allows for selection of individual speaker sizes and sounds great. Two USB connectors allows for thumb drive or external hard drive connection and ipod control. Ipod control is near perfect. Display is great.

Cons:

Boot up takes 30 seconds each time. TV tuner doesn’t appear to be available for this unit yet and it isn’t apparent if HD radio can be used with XM tuner connected? This unit does a lot and getter familiar with all the functions takes sometime.

I’ve been researching these types of systems since I bought my truck, with all the features available and the ability to expand this system along with the Garmin and Parrot built in I think this is the best choice out there.

Review of eXcelon DNX9140

The following review is for a previous version (DNX9140).

All in all, I think this is a good unit. My one complaint is the amount of time it takes to do anything - there seems to be a fairly significant lag between some operations (for some reason I get it playing MP3 CD's or DVD's)

Other than that, man, the sound it excellent and the features are endless and supported well.

4 out of 5 overall

So, So

The following review is for a previous version (DNX8120).

This product is a fairly good product. The look of the unit is very easy on the eyes when well lit. The unit has some trouble spots the unit screen sticks at times, it often doesn't automatically reconnect to your blue tooth device and at times will not read your ipod and usb device. The EQ has too many different pages and ins't user friendly to someone who inst technologically incline. The dvd picture is very nice. The screen is very easy to clean but it still attract a lot of dust and fingerprints. Its very difficult to upload your own pics and screen savers and to program radio stations. I've own several screens in different vehicles and this one falls in the middle. I do not recommend the garmin. Better to have disc navi, Garmin gets tangled at times and will send you the wrong way and at times will not give you any credible directions at all. The sound quality when hooked up to amps is very good, the installation was very easy. If you're frustrated easy dont buy this product. If you have time to gg through the thick instruction manuel and operate the product correctly then this is the screen for you.

Awsome Buy.

The following review is for a previous version (DNX8120).

I currently have the 8120 in my 2007 altima. This Deck is amazing, Navi is on point ( i work in jails doing security all over the country) I have never lost satellite signal. The parrot bluetooth is incredibly crisp and the signal is very strong to the deck from my phone even outside of my car. The signal processor and the EQ to me is what makes this deck. I have 2 12's and a PPI amp...My highs are all stock, however this deck with all the eq options it gives you, made it easy for my highs not only to keep up with my bass but stay amazingly clean throughout. Have not gotten a chance to try IPOD...But mine came with a backup camera...AMAZING once again. The only downfall in my option would be that it doesn't have voice activation. I would STRONGLY recommend this In-dash unit to anyone that is looking at eclipse (avn) or pioneer (AVIC).

Kenwood excelon DNX 8120

The following review is for a previous version (DNX8120).

This is a great product. It is very easy to figure out the menu's and customize to what works best for you. I added the bluetooth adapter which works great with the system for hands free calls. The Kenwood handles the music videos from my I pod great sound and video clarity. The only downside that I can think with this unit is it takes a few minutes for it to boot up when you start the car before your music comes on, but it really is not enough to even be bothersome.
I've had several navigation system and this by far has the best one that I have ever used. I would not hesitate to purchase another unit should I trade cars.
