Good amp, bad experience

I purchased the Rockford Fosgate PBR500X1 in november of 2013. It functioned properly with the Rockford Fosgate P3S-1X12 subwoofer for about 1 month, then it began to mysteriously shut off. Now, this amp was recommended by SonicElectronix on the bio of the subwoofer, but come to find out that the subwoofer was not correctly cooling itself or letting the amp cool down either. All wiring was done in recommended 10 gauge with 35A fuse with the Kicker amp kit I purchased as well. I am now in the market for the Rockford Fosgate R500X1D amplifier to not run at 1 ohms but at 4 ohms to help cooling with it not only being D class but at a lower wattage for the subwoofer to still kick but to stay cool. Overall, good amp, just I don't believe that class BR is good for any sub over 8-10".

Good quality

I got this wiring kit from B*stB*y a few years ago and its a great kit. Everything is included and its of good quality. The wiring seems to be of correct gauge, and the only problem I've had is a blown fuse and the need to upgrade due to a system upgrade. If you need an 8 gauge amp kit, this is a great kit. Although there are probably better deals here on Sonic than this specific kit.

This wiring kit is great, everything you need in one nice package. Works great with my 1000 watt rockford punch amp to power m 2 12" subs. and at the price you can't go wrong!

great name for a great value

Kit is all high quality, and made installation a breeze. It was my first time installing car audio and this kit makes it very easy.

Rockford Fosgate R2SD4-12

At first i was very unhappy with these woofers. But after a week or two of using them they seemed to get louder and better. Still not what i was hoping for but i can't complain with my crappy amp. I have a crew cab with two of these behind the seat. They do a good job of putting out the bass threw out the cab.

Great 8 gauge kit

True to spec wire its thick and high quality. One thing I really like about it is it already came with the ring connectors and heat shrink on the wire. very satisfied. sonic has the best prices around too.

Excellent kit

Great kit. Wired my 200W amp and sub in no time and sounds great. You don't need anything else. High quality wires. Very flexible. Can't beat it for the price for certified copper and not CCA.

Better than your average 8-gauge kit!

Rockford always delivers with the best value for money and their amp install kits are no different! This is a true 8-gauge kit unlike some of the other kits on the market. A+ rockford!

Very nice shallow subwoofer

I bought this for an install I did for a friend. I wish we could have used a larger box. This is a great sub that would be even better in large box.

The BEST 8 awg around

I would highly recommend this kit because not only is it true to spec quality wire, but in this kit comes everything you need to get started. Most people overlook wiring when purchasing systems, but this wire will keep you running safe and cool. It handles up to 500 rms!

Subs review

i would recommend these to anyone. they sound great. Haven't had a single problem with them. 2002 chevy silverado 1500hd crew cab. they're under the seats.

Killer amp, super small form factor

This amp is an amazing performer. Birth sheet says it puts out almost 600watts rms at 1ohm. It definitely pulls current. Pushes my kicker L7 at 1ohm and does not drop out. It does run hot at 1ohm, so you might need cooling. Because of the heat, I question it's durability.

Nothin like a Fosgate

I am i huge fan of this brand and the R2sd4-12 was just another example of why it is such an amazing brand. This is an excellent subwoofer, it's cheap, and it fits in small spaces. Can't ask for much more.

Update

I did order another one and wired the dual 4 ohm voice coils in parallel and surprisingly I put a multi-meter up to it and measured for ohms and got a reading of 3.6 ohms on both subs. Not bad, not bad at all.

thumping

I have 2 of these installed in a sealed unit on the mid gate of a 2002 avalanche. I have a planet audio ac1800.5 amp pushing them and they sound sweet. I like the tight clean sound but the will boom with the best.

Very good shallow mounts

Mounted 2 of these in a sealed box under the rear seat in a supercrew truck running 1000 watts @ 1 ohm. The box spec was just over .5 cu ft each and even with poly fill the air space is a bit under but I heard these could probably handle it and they did. I've worked at a pro installer years ago and I would not have expected the bass quality these produce in such a shallow mount and tight box. I'm pretty impressed and at this price I'd say they're tough to beat in terms of value.

If You're Looking For Huge Bass, These Are Not The Subs You Want. But If You're Looking For Great Sound Quality With GoOd Thump In A Small AreA, These Are What You Want! Tight And Responsive, Clean SOund, And A Great Product. Would Buy Again!

Great Sound!

The speaker sounds incredible. I built a speaker box to replace the stock floor in the hatch area of my Mazda3 because I didn't want to use up all of my valuable storage space with a speaker box. Since my dimensions only allowed me a 3" mounting depth and approx. a 1cu. ft enclosure volume, I had to start shopping around for a shallow mount speaker that would work with such a small enclosure.

I have the speaker powered by an old Kicker ZR360 in bridged mode @ 4 ohms. With this set up, I'm putting about 360 watts RMS into the speaker. Let me tell you, the speaker downright bumps.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this speaker to anyone looking for a shallow mount and/or low volume speaker setup.

Great value!

It's hard to find a better value than this shallow sub. It doesn't hit as hard as my 12" L7 on the same Punch 300 amp but that's kind of comparing broccoli to asparagus.. Buy this sub! Awesome value.

Solid Amp kit

Great amp kit at a resonable price. Power cable is made with copper and the rca cables are solid built. The kit says the rca cables are 20 ft long but they are actually 17 ft. the kit provides the power needed to run a 500 watt amp.

Amazing

Although it says 8 gauge, its closer to 4 or 6 gauge wiring. The power and ground cables are extremely bendy, you can tie knots with them! Powering a 900 watt amp with ease

Great Kit

I did not purchase my kit through Sonic, but I wish I had. It's way less expensive here than at the local shop. I used this kit to install an amp in my car about 6 months ago and it's still like new. I get about 0.25V drop at 40 amps with a 16' run of power wire and about 3' of ground wire. High quality 8-gauge is plenty for a system that draws less than 50 amps. I love RF products. Always great quality.

Awsome Amp!!!

This Amp Really makes my subs knock! (2-12's) Amazing for its size. been running it in my truck for @ two years and not one single issue! does feel hot to the touch after running for a while on hot days. But I'm absolutely positive Fosgate would have put a fan on it if it needed it.

sounds great

I had them bridged to 2 ohms to some old 800watt amp i bought for 20 bucks. they slap! knocked super hard and sounded great. i have 2 in a truck box for my ext cab silverado. the amp kept going into protect mode...come to find out it was the wrong amp...so now i have them wired to 4 ohm set up and they just sound like good speakers. I ordered a 1400 watt amp so we will see how they like that!

Amazing subs .

At first like everyone else i doubted that these would hit hard brcause they were shallow. I was so wrong they hit hard . I can be heard coming down the street . And it doesnt take much space . I have them in my dodge ram quad cab and these are so worth it . Such a great product.

Gonna order me another one

I have a 1974 GMC single cab truck, I dont have very much room to work with and these are just perfect for the job. At the moment I have just one being powered by a 250 wattbridgeable Wal-Mart brand amp and have placed the driver in the middle of the bench seat, I can feel the bump but only on one side of my body, must order another one for both me and the passenger. Will also order an amp to match. :D

Rockford ROCKS!

Bought this to add some umph to my F150 Super Crew stereo. I have a bridged Rockford Punch P3001 and a single sealed enclosure under the rear passenger seat .9 cubic ft. The single 12 produces very tight punchy kick drum and produces low end instruments extremely well. For my situation and considering the room restraints for the box, I can't imagine anything sounding better. I have to keep the Sub output on my Clarion head unit turned waaaay down to keep it from completely drowning out the rest of the system.... if it suits you space and requirements, buy it, you wont be disappointed.

Great speaker

I would recommend this speaker for a single cab, I put it in my 85 f-150 and it sounds great I haven't had any problems with sounds quality and it definitely has a thump.
