My impressions;

A quality pair of headphones i would recommend for some audio genres (mostly classical & jazz music), although it is more than fine for other genres too.
Great sound stage, one of the, if not the best headphones for gamers (FPS sound imaging, combined with dolby&eax is superb).
It's a little thin on bass side (only if you are a basshead). I'm personally fine with the bass as it is very well defined. I did have issues with some overemphasized treble frequencies (it's about my sound perception not about the headphones) which i solved by adding a light equalization.

They do require a headphone amplifier to get to their true potential.

Detailed reference grade headphones

These headphones are extremely comfortable. I have not had any of the discomfort issues with the headband that some complain about. The audio is incredibly clear, the soundstage is immersive and detailed. The imaging is great. The frequency response is very capable, the bass isn't too bad, it is tight and punchy, but not the strongest. They are reference grade, they don't boost the bass. The mids and highs are virtually spot on, they may even be a bit bright. By far the best headphones I have ever owned.

Be warned, you will need a decent amp/DAC combo to get the best out of these. I recommend a vacuum tube amp to help balance them out.

The only possible future con I can see could be the elastics wearing out for the auto-adjustments. But only time will tell.

AKG for the world!

Recommended for any person preferring AKG's and even newbies. A little power hungry but full of detail. Other reviews have mentioned headband heat/pressure issue over time and I have noticed it also. Moving headbang forward/back will help. No other complaints.

Have used AKG K501 and K240 MKII also. Q701 mates well with Schiit Audio LYR headphone amplfiier.
