Solid State tweeter protection/problem.

First... The frames were so large I had to modify the holes in the doors of a(96 T-Bird). The Protection circuit cuts the tweeters out way before the Woofers peak so when you crank up a song, the highs disapear and the midrange is still screaming. I have 80watts RMS (very clean/no square wave) run to each one, the tweets begin cutting out around 1/2 volume as long as I try to use them in their lower frequency range ~2-3kHz, and now that they have cut out a few times, they only start playing again every now and then. The power rating on these speakers is a joke, but the sound they produce(until tweeter shutdown) is beautiful and seamless. If you don't plan on hitting them with more than 40watts RMS they will probably out perform anything in it's class. Last but not least, the wire clips for the woofer are only glued on, so while trying to push the wire onto the tab, the terminals snapped right off; I wasn't even pushing that hard. :((Super Glue to the Rescue) My recommendations, don't buy these speakers. I have been working in audio for over 11 years, I would not consider these for another install.
