LOVED IT

I had this in my car and it did everything I wanted, good color digital, usb ready, everything. but only once I couldn't hook it up to my subs but all I did was take out the fuse for 15 seconds and I saw the subwoofer input on the stereo again. besides that no prob until a ex-friend from work had a couple of his friends stole the car and took my entire stereo system system. he got away with it too.

Fine stereao deck for the price

This is an excellent stereo player for the price. Alpine always worth it.

Can't go wrong with the Alpine CDA-9886

Prop:
I connect this unit to my stock 2007 corolla speakers and the sub output go to JL amp + 12" W6. The sound it produces are so amazing, much better than the stock unit. This unit works perfectly with my iTouch 3rd generation. It can browse through the playlist fine.

Con:
The buttons are a little hard to use for big hand people like me. Otherwise, no complaints.

I have had this for almost a year and it holds up like a tank, i got into an accident and it still works. I have it in my 03 Ford Escape and everyone thinks I have a sub and aftermarket speakers, but i don't. It is all stock. I am getting a sub really soon though, so it should be even better.

good, but...

awesome sound quality, i replaced my cda-994 with this. remote works, you just have to point it directly at the unit. all the features say 5 band equalizer, you dont get that. you only have subs, bass, and treble. if you want the equalizer, you have to spend another $150 for another add-on. display is awesome, wish it had more color choices though. once again, only thing im disappointed with is spending a fortune for more accessories that other headunits already come with

Good Value!

Features are great and it comes with Ipod control cable and a usb port input. But the only disappointing part was the included wireless remote control which doesn't work at all! I can say the remote control is useless... But the quality of sound and features are awesome!

Awesome Deck

This deck is amazing the only thing i don't like is if you have a lot of music then it is annoying scrolling threw all the songs. Other then that it is an amazing deck and looks great!

Awesome head unit

Excellent sound quality, features, and value. The display is pretty nice too.

Great but needs an Equalizer

The Pioneer DEH P6000 has a 7 band equalizer and the Alpine CDA 9886 has a control for Treble Bass and Sub that's it. I do like the display and unlike the Pioneer there are separate buttons for everything instead of just the one knob. Please Alpine put an Equalizer into this thing!!

The deck was easily installed by myself and I always liked Alpine products. I had Alpine players in my last three cars and had no problems with any of them. As for the price, it was not a hard choice.
Sonic Electronix had the best price, anywhere.

Outstanding!!

The head unit is the best one i have ever bought. Well worth the price. Sends a clean signal to my Rockford Fosgate 4002 amp and my JVC K330 amp. I certainly recommend this product!!

I really like this product overall. The new screen is very clear. Deck performs and operates well. The plug was a new plug this time so it was not just an easy swap.

Does Everything as Advertised

I would recommend this product. For me, the most important aspect of a car stereo is the sound quality. The sound quality is great... no problems at all there. The other features are also very nice.... easy to use menus, easy to read screen, very flexible when using different modes of input. I keep a CD in the player for music that I want to quickly add or take out, my ipod is always hooked up so I always have my favourite collection with me, and an audio book on my flash drive hooked into the usb. I'm very happy with my decision.

Great CD Player For The Price!

This is yet another awesome cd player from Alpine! The 9886 is full of great features, the sound quality is unmatched & just an over all great HU. Very easy to control & will bring your speakers to life! Ive owned nothing but Alpine head units & will go with nothing else!!!

Sounds good, Attractive cd player!

Looks good, sounds good. Its very bright at night, but blackout function takes care of that. Its an Alpine, they still sound good. I got it and I'm really picky. I feel that it was a good value.

Alpine CDA-9886

product came great. took it out was glad to see everything that was offered had came. nothing was broken. took me a bit to do the wire harness but once that was done it was good. only thing is with the new Dakotas u need to do something for it to come on with the ignition but i don't mind having it on after the truck is off. did leave it on for 5 hours but shes started up fine. sounds great differently added more power to my aftermarket infinity speakers. looking at getting an amp and a sub.

Excellent value! Excellent Product!

I would definitely recommend this product to people who are after a quality deck. I found the deck to be a far superior product in comparison to my stock deck as this Alpine unit is considerably more powerful and has great connectivity. It is also aesthetically appealing with the blue light display and special background effects. Last but not least is the ability of the deck to host more powerful speakers, sub and amp with multiple pre-outs. All in all, a great product at an affordable price. Two thumbs up.

Great product, every alpine i buy works amazing, easy to use, and sounds great, and this unit is the best one ive owned so far.

i love this head unit and its so easy to use and looks great. the sound is very clear and amp is strong but it has one HUGE flaw, THERE IS NO EQUALIZER unless you add the IMPRINT setup. i was very disappointed when i flipped threw the settings and all i see is bass and treble adjustment. you would think that after you pay 250 dollars for a head unit that it would at least have equalizer. dont get me wrong it sounds very good but in my other car i have a cheaper pioneer headunit which cost me 150 dollars and it actually has an equalizer and controls MIDS. with my 9886 i had to buy an external clarion eq which i got for cheap and now i have the 7 band equalizer i wanted. this review sounds a bit harsh but the equalizer is my only complaint... everything else is exactly what i want in a head unit.

amazing

this head unit is amazing. just put it in my 97 volvo 850. just using the stock premium speakers which didn't sound bad with the original stock stereo. but once i put the alpine in, the sound quality just blew me away. the full speed ipod control is amazing. it sounds better through the ipod then it does on a CD. if your looking for a new head unit this definitely be your choice.

Auto sound system

I ordered an Alpine CDA-9886 to replace the radio in my Mercedes S500. I did a fair amount of research and the Alpine product seemed better than the models of other car radio brands at about the same price. I had to bypass the Mercedes amp and rewire the speakers (extra cost about $125). But no other choice as everything is more complicated in a Mercedes. The Alpine radio had plenty of power to not require a separate amp. Quality of sound is good. This model is 24 bit; the cheaper models are 16 bit. I went for better sound quality. Radio presets are easy. The strong neon blue light on the radio is annoying. The AM radio seems to suffer interference from some electric or phone lines.

Alpine CDA-9886 review

This is a very good head unit for the price and because it's a ALPINE you can count on it's reliability. The thing that I find to be annoying is the volume control button, almost every time you go to change the volume you go into the speaker setting menu because the volume button is very easy to push down. Overall this thing is amazing.

Great head unit!

Overall, I am happy with my purchase. Mine came with the cable for iPod hookup which I ran to my glove compartment, but I thought it was set up for Bluetooth with a phone. There is another piece of equipment you have to buy for that to work. Also, if you have a lot of stuff on your iPod, it can take a while to scroll through the songs using the wheel on the head unit. After you do this for a while, you'll notice the wheel starts getting loose. Real loose.
