A combination of good value, Alpine Quality and efficient Class D Operation

Nice, finally a quality fully Class D 5 Channel amp at a low price point!  I believe this will be a big seller for Alpine because it does so much for so little.  For one, you get the quality Alpine name and reliability.  Efficient all Class D operation, flexible controls, and technology derived from their flagship PDX series amps.   While the amp is rated 60x4 and 300 watts RMS @ 2 Ohm, the birth cards rate it at 80x4 watts and 389 RMS for the sub when drawing on a stable 14.4V  (although realistically voltage will fluctuate anywhere from 12.9-14V when driving).  But if your car has a strong electrical system or performance battery, you’ll get more out of the amp then the base ratings.  In my vehicle I have 4 ohm Polk components in the front, Polk coaxials in the rear, and a single 10” subwoofer in a sealed stealth box (with a 2 ohm load).   The sub channel has enough power to run a 10” Alpine Type-S, JL 10W3v2 or Rockford P2 adequately.  I think for most people just wanting a good SQ system this is a good place to start.  Although people looking for a more powerful setup should probably buy 2 separate amps or spend a lot more on getting something like a Jl 900/5 HD, Kicker IX 1000.5 or Fosgate P1000X5D .  The subchannel really isn’t enough to drive a 12” Alpine Type R, or 2x12.  So if you’re looking to go that route, this amp isn’t for you.   Quality 4 Gauge cable is recommend, so be sure to get some nice pure copper wire for your power connection.

Pros
+ All in one system at a low price point
+ Does not draw excessive current that would tax small or older cars stock electrical systems
+ Sub Channel should adequately match 8-12” mid-level subwoofers
+ Flexible controls including adjustable crossovers, bass boost, remote level knobs subsonic filters etc.
+ Black anodized aluminum matches many car interiors, and elegant blue LED to indicate power
+ Small footprint
+ Comes with speaker input lead harness to be compatible with more HU choices
+ Clean power and sounds, processing sounds good and does not sound overly digital (compares nicely to typical Class A/B Amps)

Cons
-May not have enough power for certain applications
-Will not be enough to drive many higher end, power hungry subwoofers or multiple sub configurations
-Alpine doesn’t currently offer a 5 channel amp with more subwoofer power

Great amp... and I'm not talking 'bout the price yet...

This amp is GREAT! For starters, the genius that said the amp overheated probably uses some 10ga wiring with a faulty groung. Alpine amps have exellent heat dessipation, and it is normal for an amp to become hot when pushed.

That being said, exellent QUALITY amp from alpine, I'm a car audio installer, and I just installed one in a 2008 Dodge Ram (Setup description; hu Pioneer AVIC-Z130BT - front Infinity Reference components REF6030cf- rear Infinity Reference coaxials REF5032cf - sub Clarion slim mount 10" sealed enclosure under rear seat (the Clarion actually suprised me) full Dynamat deadening in both front and rear doors) so the setup is leaning on the SQ side, great sound quality, very crisp and detailed (thx Infinity) and yet warm and natural (thx Pioneer) with immense presence and LOUD! (THX Alpine) more power than you expect, obviously not the way to go for an SLP setup but totally worth EVERY penny for an exellent SQ setup.

The small footprint is a plus as is the elegant desing with hide-away wire cover (++ clean install), full spectrum clarity and the value you are expecting from a brand like Alpine!

Very good compact Amplifier

This amplifier fits under driver or passenger front seats and powers four door speakers and a subwoofer. Rated at 75Wx4 and 300W sub. The birthsheets are 30% higher at 100Wx4 and 400W sub. And these power rating are more than sufficient for a mid to standard size car and a 10" sub. The High Pass filters will enable you to optimize the signals sent to the door speakers while Low Pass and Subsonic filter will help you tune the sub. The sound is very clean. I have 6022i Front/5022i rear and a 10" pioneer subwoofer in the rear and have to limit my volume to preserve my hearing. Gains set at 3/4 is plenty loud and there's more juice to be had. Be sure to use a 4 AWG grouding and power kit.

VERY NICE 5 channel amp! Compact with a PUNCH!

This little (in physical size) amp impressed the hell out of me. I was able to buy one of these amps on sale at one of my local shops. First of all like many of the previous reviews. My bench test "birth sheet" tested at 98x4 and 394x1 @ 2 ohms. and boy does this amp perform. Very crisp and clean music reproduction. Like everyone else stated before me, make sure you use proper 4 gauge amp wiring for efficiency. Running JBL MS 6.5" comps in the front doors and Morel Maximo 6x9 in the rear deck as well as a JL 10w6v3-D4 subwoofer with a Kenwood KDC-X994 HU and I couldn't be any happier. the sub channel is more than enough for my tastes. Even when I listen to bass heavy hip hop/rap music it pushes my w6v3 with ease. Definitely recommend this amp to anyone in the market for a small yet efficient 5-channel.
