Nice amp

Nice output for such a small footprint. Often when a reputable product receives some negative feedback its usually the fault of the end user & not the product. This is the case with a previous review here. The fact that his volume is half way & his woofers are blowing dust caps tells me that the gain is set incorrectly. In the chase for bass, he is using the gain as a volume control & has abused his speakers more than once. If he is not getting output then he should be looking at his enclosure & not set the gain so high as to send over a 1000 watts of a clipped signal = death for subs. Alpine has rated this amp @ 1000 watts of clean signal, unlike cheap & nasty brands quoting big numbers worth of dirty signals. 1000 Alpine watts = 3000 watts dirty cheap & nasty brand signal. It's a nice decent amp!

Very nice

I currently own one of these babies and its more powerful than it looks. I had it hooked up to one alpine type X 12" and it blew it. This amp really kicks. Very good buy.

Very good.

Very nice little amp. Amazing how much power you get from this little thing, but be aware, it gets SUPER hot.

Great amp

This is a great amp. The thing that is cool about it is that it is so small. Also that it is 4 ohm and 2 ohm stable at 1000 watts for both. It also looks really clean. Especially when it is next to a cap. I recommend this amp if you are low on space.

Ok, I'm deaf. Now what?

Typical, excellent Alpine quality. Tiny size for what it does. Loads, loads and even more loads of accurate, low distortion power output. I use a 2.0 farad capacitor to hold the voltage constant and the only time I see dimming of lights is with the engine off. After running my system for a short while with the engine off, the voltage drops and the capacitor shuts itself down, then the current draw becomes very dependant on the car's battery and sound quality starts to fail as the amp starts to 'clip'

Other than that detail, which is not the amp's fault, it is an amazing beast that can literally lift the dust off of my seats and put it into a visible cloud in the air.

My other car has a 600 x 1 alpine class D running 2 JL audio 10's in a sealed box. It has tight accurate nice sounding bass. This car uses 2 Kicker 12" solobaric L5's in a sealed box. The 12" sqaure speakers have 3.7 times the surface area as the 10's. Couple that with 1000 watts of power and the difference in sound is night and day. The bass is still pretty tight, but it is much deeper and MUCH louder. With my other system, I turn it up until it distorts, then back it down a little. With this system, I rarely turn it up that high becuase it hurts my ears, gives me a headache and makes me slightly dizzy and nauseated.

Awesome

I bought this amp from here and I've been running it for about a day in my car. I'm currently pushing two 12w3's with this and it works great. If you can afford this it is well worth the money.

amazing

This amp is wonderful unfortunately my alpine 15'' could not handle the power so if you hear something about an alpine sub type-r 15'' 4ohm and how it can take more than what it is rated I would not trust it! mine lasted about 3-4 weeks. But the amp is amazing and I would recommend it to anyone! its a champion and my personal opinion it is better the the JL Audio 1000/1 amplifier!

alpine pdx 1000.1

This amp is a big punch in a small package.,when first introduced to us i kinda laughed but then i remembered nacamichis amp long time ago, and i was like wait a minute let me try it . I have installed 2 3 and 4 subs off of it and doesn't give up. My brother actually has two in his Tahoe pushing 6 15's mtx's moves them like nothing. I would really recommend all the pdx line from the reg 4 channel to the 5 channel and the bad boy the 1000.1 you'll be surprised and satisfied!!!

Small AND powerfull!!

This compact amp is everything you could ask for and more. At first you would think by just looking at it that this is just a boring amp. However, this amp has a secret weapon, and that is it's amazing 1000 watt rms at 4 ohms capability. It does great at high temps for quite a while. I have only had it overheat on me three times and each time I knew I was pushing it too had for too long (2 hours on full). Have this beast hooked into a 1000 watt rms 4 ohm 2000 watt max Rockford fasgate 15" T2 in my 2006 scion TC and you can literally hear me comming from miles away. Best amp I have ever bought!

Not to shabby for a little guy!

First off, APPLAUSE to Alpine for such a fine product! Self polarizing quick connects, no ohms law (same power @ 2 and 4 ohms) which makes sub matching a breeze, and in a layout smaller than a sheet of printer paper!!! KUDOS!!! ( 1197@ 4 ohms! )

The only bad thing I have to say about this amp, which really isn't that bad for the the performance, is the price. Don't get me wrong, Sonic has outstanding prices. I noticed then when I was setting the gain controls on the amps and the V-power is definitely pushing more! Just compare the fuse ratings and the PDX is drawing 20 less amps!

What a beastly amp/

when i got my amp i was truly amazed, as i held it up to my friends to show them how small it was, i thought to myself, wow this is truly small. that same day i immediately hooked it up. It looked like it couldn't handle the power that it said it could because it was so small. but the birthsheet that cam with the amp stated 1187 watts at 4 ohms. needless to say, after a good tuning, i was def. My 2 alpine type 10" R's were the perfect match, with a q logic ported box, i hit 141 decibels at 48 hertz with the passenger window down. The only complaint that i thought i would have with this amp is it had no bass booster, but... its not worth having one now that i look at it. I am now in competitions and i have won 2cd and 1st place in all of my comps. and i owe it all to my extreme amp! it was easy to set up! and a breeze to tune! Now, im saving up to get 2 more 10" R's and 1 more pdx 1.1000 amps. which i will be buying from here. sonicelectronix, thank you for the amp! and the super low prices!

RC from Vegas

First of all there is an input gain selector with two settings, one from 0.1v to 1.0v and the other from 1.0v to 8.0v. According to your stereo RCA output voltage you need to select the one that accomadates to the input gain selector on the amp. My stereo output voltage is 5v, so I set the amp's input gain selector to 1.0v to 8.0v, but the power that the amp provides is not even near 1000 watts RMS, it's more like 300 watts RMS. When I place the input gain selector to 0.1v to 1.0v the power does raise to the claimed 1000 watts RMS but with alot of distortion. After 2 hours of playing with the volume on the stereo set to half, my 10 inch Alpine type X subwoofer had a loose coil rattling. This subwoofer is rated at 1000 watts RMS and I was not even powering it all the way. After the type X subwoofer I installed a Rockford Fosgate 15inch HX2 subwoofer, rated at 600 watts RMS. I played this one at about one third the volume for 20 minutes and both coils gave out. I bought this amp because of the size to power ratio, but found out that it does not compare to other amps twice or three times the size. My brother's Precision Power DCX-1000.1 plays louder and cleaner with the same rated power output of 1000 watts RMS at a better price. Its about twice the size, but really gives you the power it specifies. You're better of buying a PPI, JL Audio, Rockford Fosgate, Diamond Audio or MTX amps.None of this are cheap, but at least you get your moneys worth.

Awesome Amp

Though this amp may be spendy, it is definitely something to consider. I have it pushing two 12" Alpine Type R's and man does it make them bump. If you have the money and want a high quality amp, go with this one.

alpine pdx 1.1000

all I can say is...this amp pushes my alpine 12 type x subs wit a JVC DVD player and 1 of these amps...wow...it pushes some real power...finally a real amp that gives me the bass I need and want. I'm not pushing that much at the moment....so I'm most definitely investing on another alpine pdx.1.1000.... I RECOMMEND THIS AMP TO ANYONE WHO LOVES BASS and POWER!!!!

I bought this amp from SE, but I didn't receive the verification certificate. Overall, I love this amp. It can maintain the power on 1000W at both 4ohm and 2ohm. I use it to power up my Type-X sub and it's totally compliment...If you cannot afford JL 1000/1, get this amp and you'll be surprised..

Small size, packs a punch, super clean bass/sound

Pros: size, power, light, and stackable.
Cons: needs breathing room, but with the size of the amp it's very easy to find a space big enough for it

Nice amp but lacks some features.

I basically downgraded to this amp so I could run the pdx 1.1000 and the pdx 4.400 in the same amount of space and amplify the components. I used to run a jl 1000/1 and a jbl crown bpx1100.1 before that. Both of those consumed a lot more power but put out a lot cleaner SQ. This amp is really great for the space it uses. The SQ isn't as good as other amps in the price range, but it is a trade off for the space. Another thing this amp lacks is a bass boost, and a phase shift; features often found on amps in this price range. I was a little annoyed with the amount of cheap plastic on the side panels and stack mounts. For some reason it almost sounds as if it has an 18db bass boost permanently engaged. I also wish it wasn't so hard to adjust the settings on the front panel.
