Sweet sounding speakers for price.

The following review is for a previous version (SPR-60).

I have two sets in my '09 Impreza. The fronts are in factory location with semi-custom adapters and I also used some NVX SDDK12 sound deadening material. The fronts are powered by bridging the four channels of a 5 channel amp. They each get about 120 watts RMS up front and that seems plenty. The rear door speakers are powered by the Pioneer AVH-P3300BT DVD Receiver H.U.

Sub: Kicker Solo Classic 10" DVC (4 ohm/coil)- Parallel, for 2 ohm load on the Sub channel of the 5 channel amp. 500 watts RMS for sub. Very small 0.6 cu. ft. sealed enclosure in trunk.

I use about 25% of the power that this system has on a regular basis, turning it all the way is painful, but still has very little distortion. At even very high volume levels (75%) it sounds perfect.

These speakers are durable, they've been installed for almost two full years and still going strong. Polks db 651s were in there for a few years before the Alpines, and they came out rusted and brittle. They were "marine" grade supposedly. These composite cages will probably be better off in that harsh environment.

Victory Cross Country Install

The following review is for a previous version (SPR-60).

Installed into a Victory Cross Country with a RF PBR300X2 amp. These speakers can really take the power! Clean highs, good midrange and I can feel the bass in my handlebars. I blew a set mm651 polks in about 4 hrs with the same amp. Thanks Alpine! Time to replace the speakers in the Camaro! I can't have my bike sounding better.

wicked!

The following review is for a previous version (SPR-60).

I put these in the rear doors of my 09 Jeep grand cherokee. They opened up the sound range immensely. They hit low without distorting while screaming the heavy metal highs at me. Love em! Definitely going to buy more for my wife's car that uses 6.5 throughout! The guy that gave em 1 star must have thought they were 1000 watt subwoofers.

Awesome

The following review is for a previous version (SPR-60).

Had Alpine factory speakers in my previous car (Dodge) and they were awesome, so I immediately looked at Alpine for the new car. These speakers don't disappoint. Many people suggest using an amp with them. I'm only using my head unit; didn't want to go through the extra work of installing an amp. It's pretty loud as things are, but I would love to hear these speakers at full power with an amp.

Very happy overall. Great price, quality speaker, sounds excellent.

Great Speakers

The following review is for a previous version (SPR-60).

I've been an devoted Harley rider for many years and I've either ridden Ultra Classics or Street Glides. With either one, it has always been a must to change out the speakers on these bikes. The Alpine SPR-60 6.5 speakers have proven to be a good investment. They are a little pricy but well worth the money. I have used 2ohms and 4 ohms systems in the past and found that the 4 ohms systems seam to sound clearer and provide more bang for the buck. I used Arc Audio adapter rings, a Hawg Wired amp and a set of Alpine speakers on my latest project. Talk about a perfect match up. The sound is incredible and clear at high speeds. The speakers are rated a 2-100 RMS and I run about 100 watts through each of them. This is truly a loud speaker with clarity. So far, no problems running them in inclement weather. If your wanting to upgrade the stereo on your Harley cruiser, I highly recommend these speakers. You will need an amp as stock Harley systems are 2 ohms and these are 4 ohms speakers. Happy motoring and ride safe.

Amazing Sound

The following review is for a previous version (SPR-60).

After purchasing the Alpine 12" Type-R sub I was in awe by its performance. This one 12" sub in a ported box blew my two 12" MTX's in a ported box away (Both the Alpine and the MTX's ran off of a Boss 2500 watt 5 channel amp). So purchasing these Alpine SPR-60 6-1/2" two way speakers was a no brainer. Needless to say Alpine did not let me down. These speakers have the greatest balance of power and clarity I have heard from any other speakers in this price range. I have two sets ( 1 installed in my front doors and the other in the rear doors) being feed 120 watts a piece! I can turn these bad boys up as much as I want and I still have yet to hear any noticable distortion. These combined with the Alpine Type-R 12" sub, I have an unbeatable system for a unbelievable price.

Great speakers

The following review is for a previous version (SPR-60).

These speakers are great. I installed 4 in factory locations on my buddies Infiniti QX4. I liked them so much I bought a pair for my 92 Nissan pickup truck. He was using the power off his aftermarket pioneer head unit and the mid bass was good and they got louder then most people need and sounded great doing it. I installed mine and amped them with a mb quart Q4.150 and they get LOUD. I have to sound deaden my doors now because they have rattles. I like them enough I'm ordering another pair to custom mount in the rear cab. It will be overkill but they are cheap enough I don't care. These are the best door speakers for the money I've ever heard.

PROS: great sound in a small package, they have 3 crossover or filter modules mounted on the back of the speaker to separate the mid and tweeter(similar to the passive crossovers you get with component systems) the grills look nice, you can swivel the tweeter for best direction, these are not harsh they sound great.

CONS: NONE

OVERALL: GREAT buy these you will not be disappointed. Enough said, hope this helps you with your decision.

For the price not a bad speaker. If you are after big sound forget it. These speaker are typical alpine and give nice clean crispy sounds. I have them running through a 60w RMS amp and they sound good. I bought them based on brand and price and was not disappointed. They were easy to install but you may need to cut a hole in you door trim for the tweeters. As value for money speakers I would recommend them.

Best bang for your buck

The following review is for a previous version (SPR-60).

I have installed many stereos over the years and these are about as good of speaker as I have ever come across for the price. The best speakers I ever had were Boston Accoustic Rallye 6x9's (R.I.P. Boston car audio) but these are right there with them. Keep in mind that these are big boy speakers so unless you can give each one at least 75 watts RMS you are wasting your time as you will never get these to their potential. I am giving each one 100 watts RMS AB power from an older MB quart amp and they sound invredible at any volume. Your ears will distort long before these will!

These speakers are great rear speakers to have for almost any speaker setup because of their great performance. After a bit of modifying the grill that is in my car, I got these speakers to fit and after putting them through a sound test, they performed flawlessly. Good upgrade

The following review is for a previous version (SPR-17C).

These speakers have a very flat response. The middle frequencies that the SPS-17c (Alpine's economical model) fail to reproduce are all there. The result is a smoother, fuller sound that will enrich almost any type of music, especially jazz and music with horns/acoustic strings.

The lows are pretty much as good as you can get from a coaxial speaker. And the highs are not too bright or overpowered, which is just the way I like it.

This speaker is very sophisticated and well-built. If you look at the back of the speaker, you will notice an extra capacitor i think (compared to the SPS) which filters the lower frequencies. It's been a while since I saw it so that's all I recall, but i remember being impressed with the crossover. The magnet is really big though, so make sure it fits.

Despite the low sensitivity, these speakers WILL do fine connected to just a headunit/factory radio. They did fine wired to my Kenwood HU (22 watts RMS) before I got my 4-channel amp; the entire frequency spectrum was accounted for.

Oh, and the price here ($90) is amazing.

Alpine Type R coaxials

The following review is for a previous version (SPR-17C).

Great speakers for the $. I would gladly recommend them (and have). They don't exactly have the world's flattest output curve, but they get pretty loud with relatively little distortion. I would say the best perk of this particular speaker is that the midbass (which I define as 70-200hz) is quite forceful relative to other speakers in a similar price range. The midrange is warm but a little muddy at high volume. The high end is a bit harsh, but it's nothing a little EQ can't tame. I didn't encounter any problems installing them - no funky clearance issues or odd screw patterns or anything.

Wow!

The following review is for a previous version (SPR-17C).

Don't listen the the guy below me. I've owned them for 6 months and have to say these are pretty damned good for the amount you pay.

Considering these are mere coaxials, the bass is phenomenal. It's no subwoofer, but if you didn't know any better, you wouldn't be able to tell. The trebles have no trouble keeping up with the bass and remain crystal clear even while my car is rattling like it's about to fall apart.

In order to obtain similar/great results, you MUST amp them. DO NOT USE A HEADUNIT TO POWER THEM. They will sound as bad or even worse than cheap $5 speakers.

No speakers will beat these at $90.00 a pair. I have these as my rears and Type R components in the front powered by a JBL GTO1004 at 100wrms per channel and they scream and do it lovingly. Give these power, they need it. If you want a speaker you don't need to amp I'd get something else. These are not for the timid.

I put these speakers in my Honda CRV. I needed something better than my old factory speakers. The speakers hit the highs and the mids very well. They do a decent job with the lows. Installation was easy. It really brings the music alive. The are an excellent deal. If you buy them, you won't be disappointed.

Alpine Is The Best

The following review is for a previous version (SPR-17C).

I got these speakers for my 95' Honda Civic because my old speakers were blown, but these... These are great. Now my whole system is going to be based off of alpine speakers and subs. Recommend these to anyone who want a great bass response from there component speakers. Thanks Alpine.

What amazing speakers

The following review is for a previous version (SPR-17C).

I LOVE this product. Got 4 speakers installed in my 2011 Sonata a couple days ago. Super super clear. Since these are 100 Watt RMS, try getting a 100 Watt (RMS) Amplifier installed with it, or else your stereo will overcrank and it will produce a distorted sound. Believe me, go with these speakers and get an amp with it, your life will be complete.

Good not great

The following review is for a previous version (SPR-17C).

The woofers are great, midbass is excellent and they perform well at only 64 watts. Tweeters can get a bit "pingy" and "lispy" but for the price these are decent

Review of Alpine SPR-17C

The following review is for a previous version (SPR-17C).

I would really recommend these speakers because they have a nice, clear sound and I am currently not running as much power to them as I could be and they still have great performance alongside my 2 Alpine Type R subwoofers. Once again I would recommend these and I have not had any problems with them for as long as I've had them.

Very good speakers for the price, although if your looking for mega mega power, i wouldn't recommend these, i am updating to the X series in the rear because once turned up they could not hold there own with the REF X series.

Very Good speaker!!!

The following review is for a previous version (SPR-17C).

I have these speaker as rear speaker for my corolla they have a very good bass for 6.5 speaker and can reach very high frequency with ease. the crossovers on the side of the speaker can get in the way, I had to cut a little from the rim of my stock speaker hole. the work great and are very durable and are made with good material. I would recommend these speakers to anyone

wonderful speakers

The following review is for a previous version (SPR-17C).

I have had these speakers for about two months and I love the way they sound. They have nice bass for being speakers. I have these in my 2002 Santa Fe and these speakers were so much better then the factory speakers that were in there before. Would recommend this product to anyone.

Very nice 6.5

The following review is for a previous version (SPR-17C).

I recently bought these and I must say they sound very good for 6.5" speakers. They are a huge improvement over the stock speakers I had. In my opinion, these produce better sound quality than any other 6.5" I've heard.

Alpine Spr 17c

The following review is for a previous version (SPR-17C).

These speakers are amazing. I ordered them for a buddy and as soon as we threw them in his car the sound was incredible. Without being powered off of anything except a Sony Xplode deck from Walmart, they keep up with his 2 12" Kicker subs powered by a 500watt amp. They make it seam like the front door speakers are non existent. I would recommend them highly, for the price, there is no way to get any better sound quality. They are way better than my Infinity Kappas I have in my car.

Awesome

The following review is for a previous version (SPR-17C).

I have these in my truck, they sound amazing with my Type R components and my 5.25 alpines, I have all 4 pair off a 200x4 so each speaker is getting around 80RMS each because I have it turned down abit, It gets Super loud and amazingly clear. When I bought them Sonic had free 2 day shipping, you just cant beat that! Thanks

good speaker

The following review is for a previous version (SPR-17C).

These speakers are alright. They have great power handling and durability, and are well built. Get them if you are looking for power and a little more low end. I wasn't impressed with the mids. if you want excellent sound quality, and good power handling, and much better value (half the price), check out RE.

I have owned these for nearly a year. they sound amazing. they r very clear and have incredible bass. even when the volume is pumped they maintain their high quality. i have these teamed with some type r 6x9s and ppl always think i have a sub in the back. i have pushed mine very hard for long periods of time and they r still going strong. great speakers

alpine rocks!!!

The following review is for a previous version (SPR-17C).

I have a 2003 Chevy Trailblazer & I installed 2 sets of these Alpines. they sound so clear and have a great midrange bass. I would of paid well over $320 if I bought them though a certain store. only complaint, could of came with speaker wire. they were easy to install. thanks Sonic Electronix.

Excellent sound quality

The following review is for a previous version (SPR-60).

Very loud and clear with no break in time. Much better bass response and louder than my old Polk 651s. My only con could be my misunderstanding, I was under the impression that the tweeter was able to be aimed

Had four of these in a Blazer for six years hooked to a CDA 9856 HU and an inline 45 x4 alpine amp.Now the blazer is rust , but , the whole setup is going strong now inside a 96 F150 Supercab.Speakers hooked right up.I have been rocking since the 60's and can't say enough about the quality and value of Alpine products.Thank You.

2006 Subaru Impreza WRX 6.5in Type R Review

The following review is for a previous version (SPR-17C).

I purchased these Type R speakers for my 2006 Crystal Grey Metallic Subaru Impreza WRX, and I must say alpine never lets me down. Hands down some of the best interior speakers I've ever purchased. They're loud and durable enough to keep sound pumping out over my 2 SX10 Subwoofer 1500w RMS setup. However, if you do have an Impreza like mine you have to lay a few layers of fatmat down behind the speaker to get the door cards to fit properly. Also you should lay down a fair amount of sound deadening on the doors to minimize vibrations.

Good Speaker

The following review is for a previous version (SPR-17C).

The SPR-17C is a good set of speakers but is a little weak on bass handling and upper range treble. The SPR-17S component version is a bit better in both of these ranges. Not a bad choice though. Good quality speaker.

These speakers are the best!

The following review is for a previous version (SPR-17C).

I bought these alpines about 3 weeks ago and at first I hooked them up to my home stereo just to see how they are, and I was really happy with the results. Now I got these babies installed in my 97 Pontiac transport and they are probably the best speakers I've had! Now all I have to do is get a amp to really see what they can do!... I Recommend this product 101%!

Great product great deal

2018 dodge challenger rear deck running a 4 channel 75w per channel Kenwood amp - fit perfect using included adaptor rings. Had Alpine S2-S65 installed a few weeks ago and wasn’t quite happy and wanted a real upgrade. The S2 were nice but not as dynamic as I had hoped. These make a noticeable difference. I didn’t want to pay for the install again so I did it myself. Took just under 2 hours. Not one modification needed. I initially spoke to Cruchfield and they told me it would not fit and there was no adaptor rings….they were so wrong. Sonic said it would fit and it sure did. Also bonus they can in days.
