Alpine SPS-400

Bought these as rear, or "fill" speakers in my '35 Ford Pickup that is a Street Rod. Needed the small size, but also they needed to be able to handle the power from the Alpine amp. I had to run the amp because the exhaust and engine on the street rod is pretty loud. We mounted these behind the headliner, and the slim fit worked great! For the application I'm using them on, they work excellent. Not a lot of bass, but they're mounted only about 12 inches from your head, and I'm not running a lot of power to them. If you need a small speaker that will handle a medium amount of power, I would recommend these. Sound is smooth and full.

EXCELLENT SPEAKERS

Wow these speakers blew me away! I installed them on a 96 Toyota Avalon and they are excellent ! For their size they deliver CLEAR highs and great sound!! and then of course i have the 15's to take care of the bass!! GREAT PRODUCT

Nice speakers, great price

Ok they are 4" speakers so they aren't going to pump out a lot of bass, but they are great on the mid and high range. The price seals the deal. If you are looking for small speakers, these are the way to go.

Great Speaker

it has nice clean highs and it hits, i have it hooked up to a 50watt 4-channel amp and the bass that comes out of it makes you think its a 6x9. great price and great overall speaker a great buy

They're great

I installed these in an 87' Toyota pickup as well as an Alpine deck.
Just 4" speakers but man they pack a bit of a punch. My old ones used to crackle and pop at over volume 5 on the alpine, these ones don't crackle or cut out at all.
Cons:
I managed to break a connector pin for one of the wires off the speaker itself, so i ended up soldering the wire to the speaker. I suppose it was just manhandling, and was more human error.

Great speakers for the price

I've had these for about 6 months now and they perform well, especially for the price. They produce nice clear sound and decent bass. I am currently running an external subwoofer so don't have deep bass running through them, but they've handled everything else without distortion. I'd recommend them for anyone looking for a nice set of replacement speakers. I plan on hooking them up to an amplifier soon and think they will sound even better then. The only thing I wish is the tweeter was more powerful, but I think I am just used to my previous component tweeters which were a little more powerful.

Good buy for your buck!They can handle a good amount of power without distortion,can get pretty good mid bass for such a small speaker and have very strong and clear highs,sometimes too strong!The only weak point is the way they reproduce the mids - around 500hz the response is not that good,may be cause they are too soft . . . Any way,good overall!

good price good speaker

the highs and mids are amazing. Lows are pretty week but its a 4" speaker so wat can u expect. Overall awesome price for a really good speaker.

Great for the price

I recommend the SPS-400 as they deliver a good clean sound for such a small speaker. They are not agreesive on the highs and handle my Alpine 4 channel amp well 75x4. I replaced a set of Infinity Kappa's that were just to shrill. Can't really think of any cons except the spade connectors on the speaker are a little fragile. I broke one connecting it to female side of wire, but was able to solder another in its place easily.

Not the most efficient but great sound with an amp

I have 4 of these and a 10" sub in a 93 range rover and they sound better than the 5K sound system that came with it. The speakers are not the most efficient so I'm running it with a MB Quart amp 50wx4 and they sound perfect!! Inside a range rover, which is a huge space! For the money, it's hard to beat it. Also, you need a sub with these, these are not meant to fill in deep bass. Sonic was great, fast shipping, great staff, overall a great experience.
