WHERE IS THE BASS?

I have seen a lot of great reviews and some very bad, and my opinion is at the "bad" end of the spectrum. Speakers were installed into Stock Rubicon 2021 without sound system upgrades, bone stock. Speakers perform very poorly in bass/ mid bass area but have nice highs. Problem is with the crossover. Alpine speakers feature crossover and has a single factory compatible connector. The issue is that my head unit (most basic that you can get in the Rubi) has separate wires and connectors run to the factory woofer and the factory tweeter. The Alpine connector fits the stock tweeter connector ONLY. It does not fit woofer connector. I suspect that the factory head unit has a crossover built in and therefore the sound signal runs to the Alpine unit thru high-pass. Hence no bass at all. I spoke to the factory tech and he informed me that the Alpine unit is not compatible with any factory amplified radio. I asked if he knows any factory radios that would not have an amplifier, he did not know. Well, if the factory radio did not have an amplifier, we would not hear thing. Interestingly, factory instruction photo clearly shows two sets of connectors in the cavity while the Alpine unit has only one. So, I guess some Wranglers have the connectors installed opposite way. The fix for that i, unfortunately, re-soldering wires and connectors to bypass Alpine crossover entirely and run woofer wires to the woofer and tweeter wires to the tweeter. Unfortunately the chance that the factory crossover is ideal for the Alpine speakers is slim, but the bass would be greatly improved. The picture is from the manual and it shows exactly what I have - 2 sets of white connectors.

Nice Sond

These Alpine speakers not only sound great with nice highs and lows but they look classy in my Jeep Gladiator sound bar.
I had do do some modifications to the sound bar but with the template and a Dremel tool it worked out perfect.
