Sound was good until they blew

These components sound great when powered properly. The tweets deliver crisp detail. Mids lack bass but hey that's what subs are for. Looks are overall good. Only bad thing is they blew after only about a couple months worth of use

Alpine Type X

I didn't like the sound and the quality compared to the MB Quarts they sound flat and didn't last long.

Sound Great

These sound Awesome! I have them installed in the front doors of my GMC crew cab along with a Alpine Head Unit and two RE 10's. They have very little bass response but thats fine for me with my 10's. Highs and mids are very clear with 75 watts going to them.

My only complaint is the tweeter mounting...It took up the most of my install time, what comes in the box is almost useless. These are not for the novice installer be prepared to fab a bit.

sound great

highs are high like they should be and they sound amazing compared to the stock speakers in my car, have the HPF set at 80hz tho because the extreme lows didnt sound that great

Very nice

Great sound from these component speakers. I put them in my GMC Sierra along with a pair of SPR-13C speakers in the back and 2 Pioneer low profile subs. Sound is awesome but I used a 600W Alpine amp to drive these speakers and blew one of the tweets. I like it loud and clear, not noisy. Definitely clear. Great recordings sound great. Bad sound really bad. They are a great deal if you're from Canada like me (triple the cost here) so I totally love them for the price.

Excellent Quality Sound

Super happy with these Type Xs. An upgrade for me from the Type S. Pleased that they can handle it loud and clear, just the way I like it. Good value for the money!

Wow.

The box for these says 75 watts RMS if you feel you need more than that...you dont with these. i believe they are underrated. these are so accurate and so loud, but not all treble either. i have a infinity 475a 4 chan amp that can push 75, but i have it set to about 60W to each and they are REALLY loud and clear. i love them. great highs, great lows, and mids. Alpine is awesome. and for the price on this site there is no reason not to get the best stuff...so get alpine. very good for any music. at all.

AWESOME

I've got these hooked up to a kicker amp pushing 70 watts to each and they sound better than anything I've heard. Its taken me awhile to get them sounding perfect, but now they do. And I'm completely and utterly satisfied.

solid sound

The best way I would describe these speakers is balanced. If anything they might be a more mellow set of what i have heard before. The bass is nice and tight, and the tweets aren't overly bright....in fact I prefer to have the tweets un-attenuated. The crossover is very flexible with multiple options for attenuation and bi-amping...not to mention that they are made of very high quality components. the woofers are also very small, using the neo-magnet makes these little guys fit into tight places.

I have a Kenwood KDC-x794 and I'm driving these speakers with 80w from a mb quart dsc 480.4. that said I'm not sure if they need more power or what, but I did think they would be louder than they are in my setup......granted im counting on one set for a full size sedan...with a sub for lows.

I'm currently considering trying to use the headunit to power the tweets alone and have the amp put 160w to each woofer....using the very flexible crossover in the bi-amp mode....but eh that involves taking stuff apart and I dont think it would be worth it in the end

In the end I wish I would have found some 6.5" hertz component speakers (they are supposed to be a little more bright and lively when compared to alpines).....but thats not to say that these dont sound great!

Supurb Full Sound

Replaced some 5-year old Sony Xplod's with these and all I can say is night-and-day. Powering them with an Alpine PDX-5 and the sound is perfect. I also installed some Alpine SPR-17C's in the rear of my Durango but I must say, the SPX's are well worth the extra cash and sound even better than the SPR's. SonicE shipped my stuff out really fast and everything was in perfect condition. Thx.

Great product for the money!

I bought 2 sets of these six 1/2 inch alpine SPX door speakers and the only thing i regret is that i only put 4 in my truck. they sound great! and i have a alpine 300 watt 4 channel pushing them. i crammed all of this into my 2002 extended cab silverado. all i did was replace the factory speakers but to me they seem to low to the floor in the front. so i want to add 2 more in the front facing me. i have had these speakers about 8 months and never had a problem with them yet. alpine is the best!

Good review Alpine SPX-17REF

Easy set-up to use.
Big display, very functional.
Lots of possibilities with adding stuff like bluetooth, etc.

We fitted a reverse camera I bought off eBay to my car and hooked it up to the Alpine unit, no problems.

Glad to see it's also held it value.

No real downsides with the deck itself, have not encountered any bugs.
Plays videos well, excellent resolution.
