amazing sub.

This sub hits hard and has clean crisp bass. It looks great and is easy to use. It easily out preforms my old Rockford Fosgate.

Great Sub!!

This subwoofer hits for a 10 inch! I am running a Zapco amp with half the gain and it sounds great! I have it in an enclosed box.

Excellent Sub

This sub is perfect for someone looking for an SQ application. Have used it in a 0.77 cu FT box and sounded great. Now currently in a ground shaker 1.1 cu FT ported enclosure. still sounds good but now I can "feel" the music.

Pound for pound, the best sub you're going to get for the price. I'm putting 2 of these in a 2012 C350. They are the only subs that look sexy enough for a Benz!!!!

GREAT BASS

Got this for my Chevy Trailblazer and it does the job well. I had to turn the bass down on my Kenwood DNX690HD to a negative 8 and my 17 year old daughter wants to all way drive my truck now. I'm looking forward to ordering more things from Sonic Electronix in the future.

I bought this sub and powered it with a Kicker 1500.1 amp at 2 ohms. It's also in a ported box. This sub is serious! I wasn't sure if I would be satisfied with a 10" seeing how I've always had 12's or 15's. I'm not disappointed and very satisfied.

best sub I've owned

bought one 10 and had it in three boxes and sounds good in all of them... best one was about 3 cubes and was tuned to 27 and the lower it got the louder it got... love the sub and would highly recommend it to anyone

Been using Type R's for a few years now, and this one blows the doors off of the past models. Flexes windows, sets off alarms, and makes panties drop.

Great sound quality, and it really hits the good low frequencies well. Wouldn't pick anything over this.

Have it installed in a 350 with a custom box, and it's more than enough.

Quality subs at an affordable price!

I have owned quite a few different brands in subwoofers. My latest were AQ HDC3's, NVX VCW, and now these Alpine type R gen 5's. I guess I'm a little bit of an addict when it comes to owning speakers. Anyhow, I built a ported box for 3 of these 10's, and they sound really nice, a good combo between SQ and SPL. I am going to purchase a bigger amp, crescendo BC 3500d or a fosgate t 2500 bdcp to really make these subs come alive! I can't wait to hear the. On 3k rms! Great subs at an even greater price!

Cannot go wrong with buying these... fairly priced along with great quality and condition of the Type R makes this a subwoofer to own. I'm very pleased with what 2 10" Type R's on 1000 watts each can do in the back of my car.

One of the best subwoofers ive ever owned (right up there with my kicker L7s as far as performance goes) i have a pair of these in a sealed box even tries them inverted and they sound great no matter what amp is pushing them, and they dont care what genre of music you play. all around great speaker.

Best decision made buying this ALPINE TYPE R and for the price!! My friend helped me install this in my truck I built the sealed box it sits in and during the install he said I WOULDNT BE SATISFIED. Well he was 100% WRONG. It shakes the walls in my house while I’m jamming in my driveway. If I needed more I’d buy this sub every time. If your on the edge trying to figure out what sub to buy please think of sonic electronics and Alpine Type R series I promise you will not be disappointed. I only have 500w rms pushing it and it’s rated for 300-750w Rms. I can’t thank you enough for such a great deal on this sub. Thanks again my business will be back soon!!

Really impressed

Love the sub. In a .6 cubic foot sealed box the bass is tight and responsive. Using a zapco 1100.1 to power it. Really works great together. Plays a wide variety of music, but it does tend to be geared more toward hip hop/pop music.

I love this sub and have had it since September of 2020 but recently on some notes, the sub will make a plopping noise not sure what to do about that. I’m pushing only 500 RMS 2 ohm. I’ve had my wires, and amps checked by stereo shops multiple times said everything looks good. Not bumping it super hard either. And it sucks to see the price shoot up from 229 to 300... it’s put in a recommend alpine box by you guys specific fit and when I got that the sub didn’t fit so I had a shop make the hole slightly bigger.

Just what I was looking for

I have a large SUV and have tried various subs. Mostly a single 12". I went form a RE Audio SEX 12 V.2 to a pair of these and the difference is impressive. Much tighter and deeper bass. Hits way harder, too. They're very well built as you'd expect from Alpine's top sub. I have them on the new Alpine 1200 watt mono amp at 2 Ohms and it has very good synergy.

Amazing speaker but...

I’m only giving it a 4 out 5 because I’ve only had mine since may 15th of this year and it has a white hazy circle in the middle of it. I’ve asked multiple people what that is but nobody has seen that before. Other then that I love the sound and quality of it.

Simply amazing.

So I actually have four of these and I use a 4000watt amp to push them. Man do they sing. Very musical, no distortion then you turn up the volume and it just gets better. I haves heard any distortion yet(make sure to set gains correctly). They take the power and transform it into bass. Keep in mind that these are after all just 10s, so don't expect bass from the sub basement(one of the reasons I went with four). I have them installed in basically their minimum space sealed enclosure stuffed with polyfill. They sound amazing and hit incredibly hard. Make sure your electrical is up to the task of supplying the required amperage that the amp needs to make these sing.

You won't regret them.

Amazing clarity, deep bass, defiantly recommend and well worth the money. I was actually surprised and the sound and how hard this sub hits.

These things hit hard

Put 2 of these in my Mustang and these hit hard. Clean sounding bass, don’t go small on the ported box or you’ll keep these from performing. Down fall after a couple of years the rubber around the sub deteriorated which I’ve never seen before only after a couple years of use.

Pleasantly Surprised Me

These 10s are great. Coming from mostly running 12s and 15s of various brands (Kicker, JL, Sundown, Fi, etc) in ported boxes, I finally had to downsize when I got a crewcab pickup and could not compromise the rear seats because of my family. For the longest time I didnt put anything in my truck because of the space constraint under the rear seats. I finally bit the bullet and bought a couple SA-8s and made a custom ported box for them. They sounded pretty good and got real low but they just didnt have the cone area to feel it like I was used to.

I then again gave up for awhile until I decided to give these a try. While they are not nearly as loud or low as a single Fi Sp4 15 I have had in the past. They definitely hold their own. I have about 1200 watts rms a piece (with gains set conservatively) on them and they take it like a champ. They are very musical and have great punch. They are in a ported box with 1.1 cubes each and are tuned to 38hz (a little higher than I am used to) but definitely get the job done.
