alpine sps-610c speakers
I had no idea how terrible my old speakers were until I put the first new alpine speaker in and played it the one speaker by itself sounds much better than the 4 that I was replacing by itself

Good for mids and highs, less bass than I expected.
I bought these for the front of my '02 F-250 and have had them for a few months. The factory Ford speakers were 5x7, so these fit the location, but need an adapter to be properly screwed down and the door panel needs to be space out about 1/2 inch to prevent the 6.5" woofer from contacting the grille on the door panel. I mounted the tweeters in the panel behind the door mirrors. The highs are absolutely amazing at Sonic's price, the woofer doesn't get quite as low as I expected. I thought that they would cover the low end a bit more than they do. Without adding a subwoofer, I would be somewhat disappointed in the overall performance. If you add a sub, they work well covering the mid and high frequencies.
The speakers look good, but I do not like the new plastic frame on the woofer. As others have mentioned, these come with the wiring from the woofer to the tweeter, but no wiring to connect to the headunit. Not a big deal, but a little frustrating.
I have these powered by a Alpine CDE-147BT head unit.

Awesome Value Upgrade
I just finished installing a set of Alpine SPS-610C speakers in a 1995 Mustang convertible as replacements to the stock 5x7/6x8 “premium sound” Ford speakers. They are driven by a 16 watt per channel Alpine iDA-x303 head unit without an external amplifier.
The SPS-610C woofers were mounted in the stock door locations using ¼” hardboard to adapt the stock oval hole to 5” round size needed. Making an adaptor was fairly simple – cut a 5” circle in ¼” hardboard, use an old speaker to trace the speaker shape centered on the circle hole you just made, make the final cut about ½” bigger than the speaker line and your template is done. Now make a second one for the other side. You can choose buy adaptor plates with the 5” hole precut.
I mounted the SPS-610C tweeters high on the door panel through a trim plate that covers the side mirror mount by cutting a 2” round hole in the plastic. Alpine includes parts to mount the tweeters in a variety of ways including surface mount so you can put these little tweeters just about anywhere you want.
Since I do not do this kind of work on a regular basis, installation took several hours because of the custom cutting required. SPS-610C speakers are connected to the head unit by running the stock speaker wire first to the woofer then connecting a second supplied wire, with built in crossover, from the woofer terminals to the tweeter. Alpine provides wiring and crossovers for the tweeter, but be aware that Alpine DOES NOT INCLUDE PIGTAILS to connect the woofer to your stock speaker wires. You will have to solder your own pigtails, which I chose to do, or buy one of the various stock speaker connector wires specific to your vehicle. I had to take one start off the Value category for Alpine being chincy.
The stock rear speakers were also replaced with Alpine SPS-517 Coaxial 2-Way speakers. Alpine DOES include the pigtails to connect the SPS-517 speakers to the stock wiring.
The sound created by these component speakers is a tremendous upgrade over stock even with the internal 16 watt per channel head unit. The SPS-610C component speakers provide a richer sound experience with better separation than a standard 2-way speaker. The woofers provide impressive low frequency sufficient to vibrate side view mirrors of the car at mild volume although nothing like the feel you would get from a dedicated subwoofer and amp combination.
The performance of these speakers is excellent for the cost. Paired up with the SPS-517’s in the back there is ample sound to enjoy music on the highway with the top down. For a bit more oomph, an Alpine KTP-445 head unit amp would provide a clean 45 watts per channel. However, if you are considering a high power external amplifier for your car you should probably spring for a Type-R or Type-X speaker set instead of the Type-S.

Ran these in a Dodge Ram
I ran these in a dodge ram for a friend pushed by an old school crossfire tek150. He originally had it pushed by a powerbass which sucked buttonholes but once we switched it out for the crossfire old school amp they really came to life. Clean sound. I ran the older ones in my acura rl for literally 8 years and never had to switch them out.

good speakers for the money.
i bought these speakers for my new setup in my cars, i am running a powerful sub so i just needed clean sounding speakers that didn't necessarily have to produce alot of bass. I feel these are great speakers if your running subwoofers, if your not i would recommend the type r's instead so you can get a little more bass out of them. Always amp these component speakers no matter what model you buy, its worth it. these speakers actually cost about the same as my pontiac "monsoon" aka monsuck speakers would have costed to replace and are insanely better.

Great Upgrade
I replaced the factory speakers in my Suburban and the SPS-610C is an incredible upgrade. The sound is clear, accurate and the speakers were a breeze to install.

Amazing sound
I installed these speakers into my '99 Blazer with the woofers in the door and the tweeters in the dash. It took several hours to cut the tweeter mounts and redrill the woofer mounting brackets on the door and to wire in the in-line crossover. That being said the sound clarity versus stock is night and day across all variations of music from alternative to dubstep these speakers perform. I am very impressed as to how low these speakers will go. In some cases its enough to vibrate the rearview mirror. The sound is extremely full and rich with clear highs. And I am just running them off of my Kenwood KDC-352U deck for now. Matched with a subwoofer this will be nothing short of an outstanding stereo setup. I recomend this kit to anyone looking for a great set under $100. Once again Alpine has lived up to my expectations.

They hold their own on the front stage...
I wanted to upgrade the sound system in my Hyundai Santa Fe Sport, but needed tweeters that were slim enough to fit in the factory A pillar spots without any cutting or flush mounting. At first I tried a pair of JBL Stage components, but I had to greatly modify the tweeters to fit cleanly and they reached their limit at about 50W RMS. After doing a LOT more research, I picked up a pair of these Alpines and the installation was smooth as butter! They take every bit of my 75W RMS, and they are willing to play lower than my door panels would like which really helps me bring the bass to the front stage with my subs. The best compliment I can give is that I hear the fine detail in my highs and midrange, and they blend with the subs to the point that I think the drums are in front with me and not in the cargo area. I listen to every type of music, and these will play well with voices and with instruments, even EDM sounds good with these. For the price, I am very satisfied. The average listener won't need to turn these up as loud as I do, but they will hold their own against a decent low end and make your music sound great.

Clear with good midrange reproduction.
I had heard these in a Best Buy and thought they would be a good inexpensive set. I ended up purchasing from Sonic because of the better pricing. They ended up going in my Sons car after I returned a pair of Fosgate components that had terribly harsh Mylar tweeters. I had to say that silk tweeters with the Alpine set are bright without being harsh. The midrange has a good vocal presence and sufficient midbass. The set is being powered by a MB Quart Onyx 4.80 that also powers a ported 10" Boston Acoustics subwoofer. I have to say that my son's system sounds almost as good as my Infinity front stage being powered by my old school Phoenix Gold M25 amp. I did reduce the star rating on features because of the lack of attenuation adjustment on the crossover. At this price point that is to be expected

Good for Listening but not for Extreme Loudness
If you are looking for good quality sound that enhances your stock stereo then you might like these. If you are looking for something that gets loud then these are not for you. I bought 2 pair of these for my celica and hooked them up to a 4 channel hifonics amp pushing 100W to each of them. Even though it says they can handle up to 240W, they have blown twice and I am now on my third pair with a blown tweeter. I admit I listen to them extremely loud but I figure they should be able to handle it. I guess not.

VERY GOOD UPGRADE
I installed the sps610-c speakers in the front doors of my 2003 chevy avalanche and the 1" swivel tweeters in the windshield columns. it was a very easy installation upgrade to do. and the sound is FANTASTIC.

Quality components
I love these speakers. I gave a 4 overall because the only instructions are on the back of the box and the part I really needed clarification on, was covered by the shipping label. Also the tweeter mounts are a little fragile. The sound is incredible. I mounted tweeters in the stock location up on dash window corners of my 2012 Hyundai Sonata. They provide crisp highs while the mid-woofers mounted on the doors provide incredible range with incomparable clarity over stock speakers.

Good
Put these in the front of my 2010 Civic Ex-L as part of a total speaker replacement. Woofers are great. Word of warning with the tweeter components, though. I have a factory amp that apparently puts more power to the tweeters than other speakers. As a result, the 610C tweeters screamed so loudly it threw off my entire audio balance and ruined the quality. Best Buy's solution was rewire to bypass the amp or do a bunch of other expensive stuff. I just put back in my stock tweeters and now the whole system sounds great. Sonic Electronix had the best price and I got the speakers in a few days.

Good Speakers
This is a good speaker for the money. Upon opening I was put off by the plastic baskets and thought I made a mistake, but these sound great. I have these in front, powered with alpine 50x4 along with the alpine sps-610 for rear fill. They sound great at full range alone, but added a kicker amp/sub package to give it a real nice bottom end. I didn't run these w/o the amp so I can't speak to that.

An Alpine top value!!
I installed these speakers in the door of my Toyota Yaris, these speakers replace an old, worn set of JL evolution co-axis. Boy, the difference was amazing! Clear highs and surprising mid-bass! An incredible bang for the buck investment! I got em' hooked to a 70 watt per channel Alpine amp, (on the pre-set high pass setting). Now commute in my beater is quite enjoyable! Thanks Sonic!!

Very good performance for the money!
We purchased these as replacements for OEM speakers in an '03 VW Passat. Install was reasonably easy, although we had to modify the plastic VW trim that had the original OEM tweeter, and add standoffs to the door panel speaker mounts to allow for window clearance. Once installed, the speakers all perform really well. Good sound clarity throughout the full range of highs and lows. We liked these speakers so well that I've purchased two additional sets to replace the ones that were stolen when the vehicle was recently carjacked. I guess the car thieves liked the performance too!

Alpine Type S 6-1/2" component
These speakers are the same as the Type S 6-1/2" coax speakers, but they come with a better crossover. (12db vs. 6db.) I have them powered from an amp at 75 watts each. The sound is good for the price. These could be powered from a good head unit with no problem. I installed them in a friends truck who didn't want to spend a lot on speakers (along with a 8" Image Dynamics sub), and he was very happy with this sound. And for just over $400 for these component speakers, 8" sub, amplifier, and Stinger HPM wiring, we now have an great sounding budget system and the interior still looks stock.

great value indeed!
1st off, i didnt buy mine from sonic but i had to give praise somewhere..note that i have mdf baffles and deadener in my doors so your MMV..
i love these components. theyre running off an alpine cda-9815 ~27w RMS and they sing, however it takes most of the h/u power to get them really going, i cant wait to see what a good clean amp will do. i havent tried them all but ive tried lots and i can say these would be hard to beat for the money. my only gripe is the basket material, not that its bad, but its easy to crack/damage if youre not careful installing.
thanks to finding a mint 9815 locally i have become a recent alpine convert and im enjoying them quite a bit (cda-9815, sps-610c, mrp-m350) my highs amp will be alpine also. for some reason i always thought alpine was over priced and over marketed like some other well known brands but ive found them to be a pretty good value.

sounds wonderful
I researched speakers for about 3 months for my avalanche and finally decided on these. I went to Best Buy and several other local audio stores and listened to these as well as others over and over again. I listen to a wide range of music from electronic dance to jazz and these really pick up the overall sound in song. I am very satisfied and purchased the matching SPS 610 for the rear. I was able to buy both sets at an amazing price.

Good upgrade from factory speakers
I have these speakers in my front doors and they sound really crisp and clear. They are being powered off my CDE-124SXM and they still sound great. If you want to get more out of your speakers I would probably get the Alpine KTP-445, which I will soon be getting to get more out of my speakers.

A pretty nice Component Speaker
My front doors have 6.5's with 2 tweeters in the Dash. These Alpine Type S speakers sound really good. My old car had type R Alpines so I feared that the Type S would be a step backwards. However this car isn't meant to have aggressive volume like my old installation did and they have really good sound! The one thing I don't particularly like is the new style of tweeter crossovers. Alpine assumes that you can easily run the tweeter crossover to the speaker. On my Volvo this would have been a huge undertaking as the door pass through really isn't aftermarket friendly. I ended up having to splice it into the amp speaker outs, which works ok but I would rather have a traditional crossover box.

Impressive mid-bass, too bright of highs
These were mid-bass monsters in my Cavalier. The doors were sealed and deadened, which probably helped a lot. Not to mention they were powered with a Rockford PBR300X4. Sadly, the highs were just too much for me, probably due to my hyperacusis. Ran an Alpine CDA-117 with Imprint and due to no ability to tailer to tune, it always resulted with highs that fatigued my ears rapidly. Dialing down the gain on the amp didn't help much, as it seemed to result in insufficient highs. One tweeter finally blew, so I replaced them with some cheap kicker coaxial speakers.
Don't want to give them more than a 3.5, but that's not an option. So, given no one that heard my setup ever complained about the highs, I'll bump them to 4 stars.

Great product & price
I was deciding between these and a set of infinity components. Decided on the Alpine due to price and buy one get one 50% off. Needless to say these don't disappoint, sharp, crisp and full. Bass might be lacking but I have a sub for that.

Strong mid-bass, too bright of highs
Bought a set of these years ago and used them in a 99 Cavalier RS Coupe along with an Alpine CDA-117, Imprint Processor, and RF PBR300X4. No matter how many times I re-tuned with the Imprint Processor, the highs were too bright and early piercing. Probably due to my hyperacusis. Never had anyone else complain about the highs at least.
The mid-bass was quite strong, possibly due to having sealed/deadened my doors. That was one thing I personally liked, as I could often turn my sub level to minimum and still be plenty content with how my music sounded in the lower octaves.
After three and a half years, the passenger side tweeter blew, so I ended up replacing them with kicker coaxial speakers for simplicity sake.

Not sure I'd buy again.
I purchased these to replace the 6.5" speakers in my 87 supra that were already aftermarket but had a cut in one of the cones.
I ran all 12GA wire to these speakers, and connected it to my amp (previous were just deck powered) While they are loud, they really don't impress on the bass, and the tweeters are OVERLY bright. I'm not even sure how to shut them up but when I do it though my Kenwood KDC mp 919 it makes the sound quality suck.
Not sure what to do at this point, but one thing for sure is the SPS-610 NON components I have in the back can't handle nearly the power of the component set. They clip like crazy unless I filter out anything under 150 HZ.
Not impressed at all.

Perfect
This was my 1st set of components after a long history of using coaxials. Put them in an 08 impala. Had to do some minor adjustments to get the tweeter to fit the factory location in the A-pillar, but that only took a few extra minutes. Have them hooked up to a Pioneer GM-A3702 and they sound amazing. Was always partial to Inifinity speakers, but I prefer the tweeters on these as they are not overly harsh with the highs.

Great sound
Much better sound quality than other brands I've heard in this price range. If your going to amp these, as you should, be sure to crossover at 70 Hertz per specs. They will distort below 70 htz. Once again the sound quality is the best in this price range, and better than a lot of speakers in higher price ranges. Not very good directions on box, but pretty self explanatory.

These speakers sound really, really good. just make sure you have them crossed over around 70 hertz. they cant handle anything below that, even though they will try. When i first hooked them up to my amp i couldnt understand why they were distorting so bad, until i went and looked at the frequency response listed on sonicelectronix website. once i set my crossover they sound great, get really loud and have great sq.
