if'fy but decent

So my factory alarm died and I wanted a decent alarm to replace it. So I went with the avital mainly because my friends in car audio said it was the same company as cobra and generally dependable. All i need and care about is simple lock and unlock feature combined with the alarm and disarm feature. The avital has more features like silent alarm/disarm but I dont need them so I cant attest to them. In general, it's a decent alarm system. The only complaint I have (and it could just be my system not all of them) is that sometimes the alarm basically refuses to arm. I close the doors and walk away hitting the arm button but nothing happens. In these not so often cases, it takes 1-2 minutes before the system will arm. Beyond that, the range is good and it was easy enough to find an installer. As long as you find a decent price, it's worth the buy.

great buy

Pros: inexpensive, user friendly, easily installed, durable

cons: Battery life on remote isn't great (expected, but it didn't last long at all), when the battery life dies, the remote will start to turn off and play "jingle bells"...it'll show that the car is unlocked on the LCD remote but the car will remain unlocked...I DO NOT KNOW if the alarm is still active when this happens...change the batteries and it'll never happen again

Other than that, it really is a great product on a budget!!

The siren is to low

The system is good, very nice functions. The range is ok, the only really big issue for me with this alarm is that the siren is to low, you can barely hear it...My wife has a cheap alarm system on her car and is a lot louder than mine. In a scale of 1-10, the siren volume on this alarm is about 3, but is very nice that once is triggered the remote will keep alerting you.

flawless alarm...

I've installed two of these alarms, one in my car and the other in my buddy's. For the money and features, you can't beat Avital alarms. No need to pay $350+ when this alarm has everything you'll ever need/want. I always install a good brand battery (AAA size) when I install this alarm.

Fairly decent

Pretty good product for what it's designed to do. I didn't get many of the add on's. But it pages within good range; I work across the street from our parking structure and it will alert me if the alarm sounds.

Impressive

I was actually impressed with the quality of this alarm and the easy to read, concise installation and user's manual. Once installed the alarm has worked exactly as it's supposed to and has been VERY reliable.
