Bel V955

I have had Cobra radar detectors and they failed several times to warn me to slow down. After speeding tickets in 2 months I decided to ditch the Cobra and go with the Bel V955. I travel 6 states in my sales job and it has saved me many times. I would strongly recommended. Drive safe!

BEL Beltronics V955

This has been the best radar detector I have ever owned. It picks up radar from ALL angles. It also has great range from front and back.

My second Vector 955

I bought one of these for my stepson, after having had one myself for a year or so now. I guess that tells you I was happy with mine, and as far as I know, he is happy with his. In my case, this one replaced an older model BEL detector which lasted me over 10 years before it quit.
There are a couple of improved features on this 955 model I particularly like:
It has an "Autoscan" mode, that is supposedly always watching the electronic environment you operate within, and somehow adjusting its sensitivity to what it finds around you. I don't know how it works, but whatever it is doing, it appears to have fewer "false alarms" than my older BEL did, though it seems to alert when it needs to do so. This new model also has an "Automute" feature I really like. After an alert, it sounds a warning, and then after repeating it for a short period, it drops the volume to a more reasonable (i.e. less irritating) level, while it continues the warning for the duration of the alert. On my old one, I found myself having to manually mute it constantly, to keep it from driving me (and especially my wife) nuts during long alerts. All in all, it's saved me from tickets several times in vulnerable situations, and the "ergonomics" of this model are improved over the older one it replaced.

I would highly recommend this product it works great , it gives me plenty of warning when approaching speed traps and random patrols. I also purchased the smart cord with the mute button that is the only way to go , mute the false alarms and it kicks back on when it picks up another signal.

I would recommend this item..Works as discribed..I have no complaints at all..

I use it in my car ,truck and Motorcycle(with ear piece)..Hard wired on the motorcycle..

The unit is not waterproof, just be careful of that on a motorcycle.

Great Radar Detector

I purchased the Bel Bector 955 for long trips and it has worked very well with few false alarms. It is easy to use and reliable. Consumers guides rate if high for its price.

Questionable Value

I'm not sure that this radar detector works as advertised. I used it on many long distance trips. I have passed several radar traps without any warning whatsoever from the radar detector. In fact except for the occasional false alarm, it has not given me one legit warning in 6 months of use. Even if the police in my area only use instant on radar, this detector should pick up if people in front of me when they are flashed by the police. Given that it hasn't given me a single legitimate alarm in 6 months of use, I cannot recommend this radar detector.

This unit is hands down the best in the business !!! it blows away other units by far i have tried several ...this unit is worth its wait in gold and the price is great !!!

love my radar detector

My first bel detector lasted at least 15 years then the speaker quit. Really got my moneys worth out of that one and expect the same with this one :) great product!!

Awesome buy

This was my first radar detector and it is amazing. Over 6 months on and it is still working perfectly. Has saved me many thousands of dollars. Have never had a point where it didn't work when needed.

very happy. paid for itself first road trip

Took it with me on a trip from Florida to Indiana. Let me know when cops were around,even the undercover cars. Did beep around automatic doors but considering it will save me a ticket it is well worth it. Would recommend to anyone who takes a lot of road trips.

Great Product, Great Price

I bought one for my daughter inlaw for Christmas and it has saved her ALOT of money from speeding tickets, which reminds her to slow down. She loves it. I also bought myself one just like it. Great product for a great price.

Hasnt let me down!!!!

It has been dead accurate with good early warning. It is very easy to use and I would highly recommend it to anyone. The only way law enforcement can beat it is to turn their radar on at the last second and catch you.

Great Detector

Overall great buy. Not too expensive, and high quality (made in Canada). It's usually good at detecting all bands, and almost no fake alerts. One of its disadvantages is that it's sort of slow at detecting the camera SUVs; it starts beeping about 10 feet before you reach it, which is definitely not good. Sometimes it lags when a cop is cruising, but very rare. The volume is great, and the light is awesome.

It works great, has never failed me, except when not plugged in. Always spot on, but give lots of false readings, better safe than sorry though. Lots of X band around hospitals, banks, and ATMs, sometimes shows LASER when no cops are around. Overall it works great.

Great Radar!!

This is the best radar detector to get for under $200. I love it. It has helped me out a lot in the city and on the highway and has proven its worth. Excellent for someone who has never owned a radar detector before.

Bel Beltronics Vector 955 performs GREAT!

I've owned several radar detectors over the last 25 years and the Bell Vector 955 is by far the best value, most reliable and well built detector I've used or owned. I wanted another detector when I bought a high performance car, but couldn't bring myself to justify the seemingly outrageous cost of Passport or Valentine. I noticed the 955 seemed to get reasonably good reviews and excellent value ratings. It works fantastic with very few false alarms. It will pick up laser, but when you're getting hit with it. I would recommend ordering some extra suction cups for when they wear out over time. Overall, I HIGHLY recommend this product for an extremely reduced probability of getting unwanted speeding tickets.

Loss of Audio

This is my third Beltronics detector. The audio stopped working and I can't open the unit to see if there is a fuse. The unit was never moved from the position it has been in for 2 years.

Vector 955

Overall quite a good radar detector for the money. It's definitely paid itself off over and over. I would say this radar detector is more for the commuter rather than the high speed racer (due to the range of detecting radar, 1/8-1/4 mile) but has saved me multiple times.
I would recommend this to a friend over the wal-mart brand but would recommend a high end detector for the high speed racer if they have the money.

BEL Beltronics Vector 955

I have two of these. Best bang for the buck detector out here. Honestly, if you need more warning than this gives you, you either need to slow down, or fix your brakes. I drive with it on in my cars 100% of the time, which is the ONLY way you should use a detector. I would spend less on a detector than this or you get garbage. Ask me how I know. I wouldn't spend more than this either, especially since this one works great.

Good value for the $$

I've owned a number of radar detectors, since the inception of the very first fuzz buster. This is my 3rd Bel, and I'm not disappointed. Plenty of warning for most bands. My only complaint is that i get a lot of false signals on the Laser band when i am driving towards a sunset. Other than that, I don't think you can buy a better unit for less.

Like it so much bought another

After doing some research I bought the Beltronics Vector 955. It sounded like it was what I needed for my daily commuting in our radar laden city, and I haven't been disappointed. It gives me enough warning, hence no tickets since I bought it 18 months ago, even on the high speed mountain roads. I wish it came with a clamp to permanently attach to the mirror - suction cups only good for 6 months at a time.

Works great

Extremely easy to use and reliable. I cannot believe how I ever drove without it. Thanks to its alarming me of possible speed and radar traps I have been able to avoid a lot of close calls.

Good performance, middle priced.
Works much better than many other cheeper ones I have - I set them all up on my dash for about a week. It won hands down. It's very good looking ahead and around the hills & corners, good enough for me, better ones cost ALOT more.

BEL 955

I have a BEL 955 for a little over 6 months, for the price it is great! On the highway it works flawlessly in the city not so much. Lots of False k bands when driving around a hospital or any drug store, such as Walgreens, Rite Aid, CVS all show 1 bar K band and can be very annoying. It works great on back roads away from disturbance and has away given me plenty or warning on the highway (way before the cop is visible). I have gotten pulled on a back road by a cop driving past me over a hill using instant on. The radar went off solid and I had time to slow down just enough to get a warning instead of a ticket. I drive from Wilmington to Raleigh/Greenville regularly, around two hour drive every week and this radar detector gives me plenty of confidence on the highway. I would recommend this to anyone doing lots of highway driving and for the price it is unbeatable.

Value for money

I bought this product and it has been great.I thought it would have had better range but still it has gotten me out of some close calls.
It works as a safety device also because every time it beeps you double check your speed.
Beware though that they are illegal in all states in Australia with the exception of WA.

Great Radar Detector for the Money

I have owned the Vector 955 for 6 months now, and I still think it was the best purchase of the year. They pay for themselves the first time you hit your brakes when the radar goes off.

It picks up radar over hills, around corners, in the rain and snow. Most of the time it will easily give you enough time to get from 75 down to 55, and that is before the cop comes into sight.

The beeps themselves are rather annoying, a friend has a similarly priced model from another company with a more mild beeping.

I suggest buying another cord to run from the plug to the unit, one of the ones with a mute switch. The mute switch does work with this model, at least on the cord I bought.

Good Radar for the price!

Is very good for highways not good for city. For the price is one great. Save me 4 times last week!

Pretty good product for the money. Sonic has the best price and service all around. Works great but need to customize the sensitivity in the city.

Great Value

I was sure before I bought it and now i'm even more sure that his is the best bang for your buck when it comes to a radar detector. I've caught radars as far as 3km away, mind you I live on the prairies. I would highly recommend this to anyone who wants a basic detector that actually works.
