Super Product/Easy Installation/Great Value

This was a Christmas present for my daughter's 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer OZ Rally. I'm an old school guy who purchased this Boss unit based on price and features (especially Bluetooth). Installation was extremely easy using the included wiring harness that plugged into the car's wiring harness. I spent about an hour crimping the cables of the two (2) harnesses (adapter and receiver) together. I then removed the old factory radio, put in the support sleeve, and plugged in the new harness to the car and the 508UAB and it worked perfectly. I had to run to Lowe's to get a wing nut to make it easy to secure the back of the unit to the inner dash using the included support strap. My daughter's birthday is in February and I'll probably replace her old factory speakers to further enhance her sound system. I have no problem recommending this product to others.

Has everyting you would need for musix

Equalizer is very basic just treble and bass THERE IS NO MID BASS ADJUSTMENT. Remote has good features but has to be pointed almost directly an head unit to change Vol, etc... Bluetooth Pic up is a bit choppy if your moving about round unit. it Pairs very well an easy to search for an find on BT on my phone. Blue Color of keys an buttons is bright an clear. USB loads music up lightning fast no problem there
Volume Knob cheaply made an wobbles as if its not completely centered.

Good value

The Scosche install kit and wiring kit work out fine. The Scosche was poor on instructions, need to be larger viewing. The "R" bracket was the hardest part to slide on and seeing per illustration what tabs to cut off to small. Just a heads up when wiring front and back speakers, if your old speakers do not adjust for front and back only. Do not wire the front by itself (white and whit\black) they need to be wired to your back speakers together. All in all it works great for replacing the old factory stereo with this. Sound is so good I have put in some better speakers now, I can hear how crappy the factory one are. If buttons were a little bigger, I would give it 5 stars for look if I could adjust color display and the ease would be better if the buttons were a tad bigger.

review of the Boss 508 UAB

Hey, I got the Boss auto unit but had to wait for the adapter plate that was supposed to be shipped with the unit. When i finally got the unit installed, I was very impressed with the controls as i had carefully figured to my liking. BUT, I could not get the unit to read current time when it was off, and it took a swipe at the clock button to read the time. then it would default back to the mode or station display. I read the manual 3 times and it was not explaining what i needed to k now. SO, I called tech support at Boss and told them what i needed to to do (having the clock to display time when in off position.) They promptly told me that the unit did not have that capability.
Very disappointed, and vexed, I made do with the unsafe method of viewing my cellphone or other means. As I became more familiar with the radio i discovered that the MODE BUTTON AND OTHER BUTTONS slipped into a DUAL function when the button was held down for 2 seconds ! It was then that I was able to change the display to read time all the time except when it was in station mode. TECH SUPPORT SHOULD HAVE BEEN BETTER AND MANUAL TOO . LOVE THE RADIO AND USB AND BLUETOOTH FUNCTIONS

Nice for the price

Obviously this is not a high end car stereo but it does play cd's, mp3, has Bluetooth hands free calling with built in mic, am fm radio, built in micro sd card reader, usb port for android or apple devices.. The only thing i was upset about was that it lacked a dedicated pre amp sub out.

Nice compact radio, good replacement for my Toyota factory unit whose CD player died. I love the Bluetooth and all the programmable stations, 5 bands worth!

Boss stereo good buy!

I really like my new boss stereo. It looks good and is easy to use. The sound quality is very good. My only issue is that the radio stations don't come in clear like before. I may have to go back in and recheck all my connections.

Hugely Better Than Factory

I bought this unit after looking for a couple weeks. I have a 2003 Ford Explorer and it sat in storage for mostly 10 years while I work in China. Now that I'm thinking of retiring, I'm driving it a little more. Truck has a little over 15000 miles on it so old but basically new. The original unit was OK but the problem was reading my burned CD's and just out dated. I really didn't want to spend a lot of money because of age of truck. I chose the Boss 508 because it was pretty basic and had multiple choices of playback methods. I got the free socie single bin dash conversion unit with the free harness and spent about thirty minutes and a couple beers in my shop on a rainy day connecting the harnesses, took my time, placed the Boss unit in the sochie dash unit and it fit perfect, uninstalled the factory unit 55 minutes, slid the new prepared Boss unit in 5 min
uses, hooked the battery up tested it 2 minutes, powerd up no problem so I finished putting the dash trim back and viola it looked factory installed. I have about 20gb of music downloads in my computer and love to play my tunes. Couldn't burn CD's old unit wouldn't read them. I purchased the SanDisk 8gb small traveler USB at the same time (sad I didn't get the 16gb but no biggie). I burned a CD to test the CD player worked perfectly. Loaded 7gb of excellent tunes on the USB absolutely perfect. I haven't taken it out since I put the USB in. I was going to order a 4 JVC speakers I picked out for $39.95 set of 2/box to complete the cheap upgrade, but after I tuned this unit up with the factory speakers, set treble and bass to my liking(2 minutes) and my music playing I was amazed at how sick it sounded. Now, I'm not a radio aficionado, but I'm 57 years old and came from the 70's party era and like my jam when I'm driving, so I've always replaced a factory unit and paid a lot more. I don't work as much as I use to and am very mechanically savy so I decided to put it in myself. Installation was a sinch. Ka-pow, this unit has totally satisfied me in every way even with the factory speakers. Sound is great for an old University party animal. All complete with free delivery for $59.95. Definitely recommend this product to anyone.

100% happy

I ordered the BossUAB stereo for my ranger pickup. I showed up exactly when they said it would. The installation kit and wiring was exactly the right one for my truck. I installed it in about 35 minutes and it looks and sounds great. I couldn't believe the price for the stereo. I really liked the install kit and shipping being free. Amazing deal and I would recommend Sonic Eleoctronix and the boss stereo to anyone. I cannot rate the durability of this stereo yet because I just installed it. But so far its great.

Great product

This is more than I figured on time as promise better radio than I thought for the cheap prices. This went in my old 1991 motorhome.

Good buy for the money.

This radio is everything the advertising claims with a few notable exceptions. For my installation,(99 Tacoma) the installation pieces didn't fit. I had to manufacture my own way of installing. But the final installation looks good. One complaint is, like others, the clock only works when the button is pressed, and the blue tooth is pretty much useless. But my main complaint is the programming for the USB port. Hitting the random button only works for that session. The next time the radio is turned on, it starts at the last file played, and then plays alphabetically. Pressing the random button again starts the play list at the same song and then in the same order that it started with the last session - in other words NOT random. Otherwise I'm very satisfied with it.

About this boss..

First of all.. Is not too loud, if there's a certain point u wanna crank it up, you're Gonna have to give it maximum volume.. And still doesn't give u potential. Always had Bluetooth problem hearing music because every 3 min i could like for half a second, hear like the signal fading and its really bothering. Doesn't have too much options to set up sound, no sub option or even Middle treble. It didn't convince me after having it for 1 month and went and get a JVC even if it wasn't Bluetooth but is more loud and have more settings for Audio.

Smoked when installed

As soon as it was hooked up it began smoking out of the radio. It was quickly disconnected and the wires examined to make sure none were crossed. The wires were fine but when plugged in again it continued to smoke. Was very disappointed. The features seemed great for the price but I guess now i know why.

For the money , it is well worth the price. Bluetooth portion doesn't work that well but, cd, aux, radio are all satisfactory.

Perfect product

This is perfect for what I need. A cheap everyday beater car, but now I can bluetooth my phone and play my favorite music through a great sounding unit. Sound is clean and powerful for the car speakers, so I added a box with 2 10", mids and tweeters in the trunk. Now it is sounds loud when I want it too and soft other times. MP3 CD's sounds great. And best of all I don't lose sleep over if teh unit will be stolen or not...$50.

I bought this radio when the original one went out in my truck. Nice radio for the price

Has plenty of features for a cheaper radio the sound is better than the factory radio. The blue display is bright enough to see everything easily but not too bright to be distracting at night. Bluetooth works good sounds good. USB, memory card and CD all play without any problems. I'd buy this again for another vehicle.

Pretty Good

OEM deck died on me so I needed a reasonably priced receiver. Overall installation was straight forward. The features on it are perfect for a commuter car; aux input and bluetooth for wireless connectivity.

The only con with this receiver, like some had mentioned before is that the bluetooth picks up on road noise when you are on the phone causing the other person to not hear you as clearly.

The radio is easy to install and fits into my vehicle with little issue. The unit is easy to operate and the directions are understandable. It has many different ways to play your MP3 audio. The USB is nicely hidden port for when it is not in use. The Bluetooth device option operates well with the phone for hands free operation and it keeps the place in playing prerecorded MP3 when the phone operation is completed. I like the easy buttons to operate the radio in day driving as well at night. The unit is worth its weight.

Great Radio

I am satisfied that I got a great car radio at a great price. I am particularly impressed by the bluetooth feature and use it continuously while I'm driving. It look great with the adapter that came with the radio. I'm impressed.

Inexpensive Option

As far as a stereo goes it works as expected. CD works as expected and USB and AUX ports work well. Installation, thanks to the included wiring harness for my car, was simple and fit was as expected.

Pros - Sounds good, lights match my dash, had the functions I needed and Bluetooth functionality, except for microphone, work well!

Cons - Bluetooth microphone may as well not exist. I have tested in many scenarios only to have to switch to headphones or speaker. It is so poor that while sitting without the engine on the microphone won't pick up my commands to SIRI or allow for callers to hear me well at all. It only gets worse with any road noise. I have a warranty so I will pursue a replacement as perhaps it was simply a manufacturing issue. However, I am not hopeful as many others on this and other sites mentioned the microphone as poor. The only other con is I wish I could turn off the graphical display of the beat of the music/audio. It's tacky.

The Tough Radio

I put the radio in the cowling of my Harley motorcycle. Has good volume and plays the music on my android phone as advertised. I would recommended this Bluetooth radio to anyone.

Great Product

I was looking to replace my factory stereo in my 2001 Elantra. Came with everything I needed. Easy to install, just matched wires up!

Its Alright

I bought this system with Boss speakers. There isnt much bass at all. Im not a bass heavy person but it is very empty on the lower end. The bluetooth is alright because sometimes it cuts out for a split second. Only has bass and treble and eq presets make it sound worst. Any bass heavy song sounds muffled. But my older music(93-00) sounds great. Im gonna get different speakers and see if that helps. But i would think that a systems speakers should sound the best with it.

Spend a little more

I was amazed at all the features this head unit has at such a low price. The blue tooth works great! The eq sucks, the sound quality isn't great, and then it just mysteriously stopped producing sound at all. I went with a pioneer deh 7800 this time and it's a night and day difference.

Such a great deal I bought two!

I bought two of these. One for a 2003 Focus and also a 99 explorer. They came with all of the required extras for installation and everything installed perfectly. Bluetooth works great also. No complaints for the price. Only thing I would like to have seen is a adjustable brightness for the display and the ability to stay on the clock instead of switching back to the radio station.
