one hell of a deal

for the money you can't go wrong. I did have to modify the opening in my 04 grand marquis just a little, but that is to be expected. the bluetooth is excellent!

Great product

Boss 865DBI Car Audio System is a great product. I'm very pleased using it. Many friends have bought one. There is only one feature that it is not working properly, phone volume for answering it can't be set in MENU Options. But not big deal!!!

Nice average head unit

Very nice and attractive looking receiver. The sound in comparison to the stock receiver from my 2005 Chevy Silverado is brilliant. Definitely a noted improvement there. The backlight is (as mentioned by someone else) a little bright, and there is no built-in way to dim it. I used a leftover piece of window tint to cover the display. This effectively dimmed it but left it quite readable. Getting into the "menu" on this thing can be a bit confusing at first, but once you figure it out, it's simple. I like that there were adjustments for midrange as well as bass and treble. You can also control the contrast of the display (this helps if you plan to tint the display like I did). I love the remote also, my last truck had a remote for the stereo, that spoiled me. The only minor negative I can come up with is the very small and very smooth volume and tuning knobs. Someone else mentioned this as well, and I must agree. If they protruded just a BIT more from the face, it might be ok, but this is just a minor detail for me since I mostly use the remote to control these items. Overall, for the price, you can't go wrong with this head unit. It sounds great, looks great, and was a snap to install.

Love It

Installed in my KIA Optima with no problems and looks like a factory installation. Love the multiple options, just finished a 3 thousand mile trip and used the SD card to listen to Books on CD. It was great not to have to change CD's. The BlueTooth worked great but the answering volume was a bit high. I think there is a way to adjust that but I haven't taken the time to find it yet. Haven't used the IPOD connection. USB does work fine. For the price, I don't think you can beat this unit. I would be glad to recommend to friends and family

Awesome deck

I have been very happy with this head unit. Puts out great power and runs my component speakers great. The bluetooth works awesome to. I don't get many complaints about sound on the phone, even on the freeway at 70 mph. Easy to set up to. The only complaint I have is sometimes it won't turn on when it's really cold out, but once the cab warms up it comes on. Even knowing that, I would still buy this again.

Low quality unit

This low priced unit included many of the features I was looking for in a radio. Large display, usb and memory card input and compatibility and bluetooth phone interface.

We used this radio for a couple weeks in our car and ended up removing it and sending it back for a refund. See cons below.

Pros: The memory card and usb input worked well. Radio sound was not bad with plenty of power. Bluetooth for phone worked very well.

Cons: Blue light display was so bright, with no adjustment, that it was distracting at night. Random song feature was very poor, it kept repeating songs. When in random mode, the song name/artist does not display on the screen. Volume control knob was very small and slippery, making adjustments difficult. The large display was filled with small/obscure symbols that were hard to interpret. User manual was very poorly written. Overall, controls on radio were not at all intuitive. Radio picked up noise from car engine even when a new ground wire was added and additional shielding was added. Radio ended up failing in just a couple weeks.

Sonic's tech support was excellent in helping us install the radio. I had to make two calls to their support line during installation and they provided answers quickly and friendly both times.

We received a full refund on our return.

Light tooooo bright!!!! Volume dial has no grip.

It is a nice looking unit. Easy to install, however, the screen is way too bright, the volume knob is too slick, hard to turn. I can't even see the road at night. I have to put a towel over it. Otherwise great unit. I don't even think there is a control for brightness, none that I can find.

Great Product for the money

Was very easy to install with the included kit. I replaced the factory radio in my 2011 Nissan Frontier and this sounds much better. My main reason for the replacement was for the Blue Tooth function but I was pleased that the radio itself sounded much better than the one that came with the truck.

Cool stereo

This stereo has lots of options and features. The thing that bugs me about it though is that when you scroll through songs on an attached iPod the stereo skips the first second of the song. Annoying. The blue tooth is inconsistent in picking up and staying on incoming phone calls. Overall I like it though.

BOSS DoubleDin Stereo

This stereo has plenty of options and sounds great you figure out how to operate it. It comes with no instructions of how to program or input features. This is a trial by error stereo. It came with great mounting brackets for various types of dashes. The wire harness ordered with this stereo went in easily and did come with instructions for my particular vehicle. Overall, not satisfied with the purchase just for the stereo itself. Otherwise, the site was expedient with my order.

I love this head unit. It was the best buy for my car ever. It is easy to use and it looks great too. Definitely have suggested it to many of my friends.

Damned good unit for the money!

First things first, I am a very tough critic on tuners. being a ham radio operator and a long distance commuter, (170 miles a day) i demand a lot out of my tuners and receivers. the Boss does an admirable job of receiving AM and FM signals from distant stations even in the presence of RF generated by my ham equipment as well as the emi generated by my 1985 pontiac Fiero. The cd player has also done very good as well. I can't speak for the I-pod feature as i don't use this feature. but i will say that for your dollar, you should be very happy with this unit. The only reason i gave it only 4 stars in durability is that occasionally, the display will freak out and not respond as expected. This may be a result of the enviroment i subject it to, (high wind, lots of blowing sand/dust) so far, a Q-tip will clean the contact points and it works as intended. Overview- a great unit for the money, it must be, as I bought two of them.

Awesome Product!

When I received my first Boss 865DBI the CD player did not work but with the help of the excellent people at Sonic Electronix I was able to return the defective unit and received another with in a week and a half. I really love the Boss 865DBI, I have it in my 2001 Mustang GT Convertible and have no problems listening to my music while cruising down the freeway. I love the blue lighted face and the style of the unit goes well with the interior of my car. I highly recommend this unit.

Great features but died after 6 months

The iPod feature worked great, for awhile. Then the SD reader quit, then the detachable face broke so you can't get it off, then the unit just wouldn't power up, have to send it back. There is truth to you get what you pay for. Advice: Spend another hundred bucks and get something that will last... I am sending it back to mfg, they want $20 to even look at it. Disappointing finish after a strong start after I put it in. And yes, the blue display would benefit from an ability to dim it. It is darn bright. Also, you really need to read and re-read the user manual occasionally to run it. It is a case of TOO many features.
