...Hit or Miss brand? Miss

Boss has always been a real hit or miss brand. I've had great experience with other boss products, but this was one was definitely a miss. I, like others, have the same problem with the screen sometimes working. It decides to go completely blue sometimes. It has also completely shutdown before in my vehicle and started spitting out random symbols, numbers, etc. I don't know to be completely honest. I'm not very educated amongst foreign cultures, but it looks like Japanese writing... and it's weird. it will also fail to boot up sometimes in which the screen either doesn't do anything or it goes to the BOSS loading screen and it doesn't do anything more than that. The compatibility between the USB port on the faceplate and my 4th generation ipod? forget it... doesn't work at all. It gets me to a home scree on the head unit and that's it. Remote won't work. have to completely shut down my vehicle and restart it, if I want my stereo to work at all. Selling it for $20 because that's probably about all it's worth.

Great looks when it works

Not recommended. I have bought 1 from a different vendor and the screen works when it wants to and the one I bought from sonic the screen was DEAD ON ARRIVAL. I switched face plates and the faceplate from the first one works so I know it's the faceplate not the radio. The cost to ship back and get a new one is not worth it, plus all the reviews I've read from sonic and other vendors confirms that this unit is plagued by this problem.

Recently I purchased a Boss BV7342B. I installed it into a 1998 Acura CL with assistance from a professional electronic technician. This receiver is the worst receiver I have ever seen. There are a multitude of issues. First off there is a line across the display. When the radio is powered on it sounds like the CD drive is grinding even though there is no disk in the drive. The radio tuner fades in and out and randomly shuffles/searches for stations. The radio plays a loud ringing/beeping sound when powered on (similar to an incoming bluetooth call sound). Both USB ports, the one on the front and back do not function properly with either android or iPhone (tested 3 separate phones). And to top it all off the memory card function is horrible, you should be able to view the files on the card and play them, rather it will only display image files.

I am beyond disappointed with this product and would strongly advise anyone interested in a car receiver to avoid this malfunctioning piece of rubbish. It would be difficult to find a head unit with more issues than the one I received. You would be better off pulling any radio out of a junkyard. You would have to be absolutely insane to purchase this product.
