decent for mid bass

This sub is ok for mid bass, but it just can't deliver a good hard thump that a good quality sub can. You do get what you pay for. The coil in this sub is small. Like 1" small. I do not recommend that they be ran at high volume for extended periods of time. They can't handle it as well as a big name sub, but they are a decent sub for mids on low key power.

The Boss CX8 works fine as a replacement to my blown out of stock sub for my Tahoe. It installed easily and sounds good.

Great sub for midbass application

I don't know how it would perform as a sub but as a mid bass driver it works great.

Good Sub for the Price

I used this sub to replace my Ford Explorer Sport factory sub that had dry rotted. The factory sub was a little bigger, but this sub still fits. You just have to drill new screw holes, and use a bolt, fender washers, and silicone to cover the rear mounting hole in the plastic sub box. 6 months and still going strong.

Great speaker at an unbelievable value

This fits perfect in my 99' Ford Expedition. Should fit most other years if you take some time to fit it to the sub box. Sounds like a much more expensive speaker.
Six months later and still going strong. Why pay more.

Good factory replacement

I bought this as a replacement to put in my 2001 expedition factory sub box. Fit fine just need to drill new holes. I do have a small FLI amp supplying the power. I would recommend for the cost and the small depth to fit in a factory sub box. I have owned this for over a1 year no problems, it's used daily.

I'm happy with this sub woofer. It fit in place of the Factory sub woofer in our 1999 Explorer with the Mach sound system. It works great and was a good deal.

Cheap and SIIIICK

I bought this speaker when it was on sale for around $20 with shipping. I put it in a small ported box with a 300rms amp and this thing sounds really good. I wasnt looking for extreme eargasm bass just some fuller sound and this sub hits the spot. It has a nice range even hits the lows on most songs without a problem. Overall a real nice speaker for its size and price range.

are you serious?

for anyone who gives this 8" tweeter a 2 star or higher rating has never heard a good subwoofer in their lives! My 3" mids have more bass output than these worthless subs do. Like all Boss audio equipment the best place for these is the garbage.

Great price , excellent subwoofer

It might only be a 8 inch subwoofer, but it can handle alot of power. The magnet is not to big so you can fit almost anywhere. Surprisingly for the price it is marked at, the sub is made pretty well. Would fully recommend it to any one replacing there factory sub or to any one who wants just that extra kick, but nothing to extreme.

Great little subs

These little subs are great, so much power from such a small unit. Puts the old 12 in sub to shame. Would happily buy more and install in future cars and recommend to others who want big bass and be able to use their boot too.

Reality check

I bought this to replace stock blown expedition subwoofer, waste of money guaranteed. Rather buy an mtx thunder 4700 that really pounds and is only 200 max plus I tested it with a Phoenix gold r.5.0.1 amp and it began to fry, this was playing at 4 ohms 200 watts input.

Great Product!

I bought this to replace the factory sub that was missing in my Expedition six months ago. The radio SUCKED big time without the bass. I have no complaints with this sub! It sounds GREAT!!!!

grill covers fit perfect

Custom built one inch for cabinets and using bpt60 tweeters grille covers fit perfect over this sub because of the way i put together the boxes these speakers will never need an amplifier to drive them.

Boss CX8

I had a new stereo I just bought and for whatever reasons, the Boss went out. Everything was installed correctly, just doesn't work anymore. It worked with the new stereo for about three days. Only about a year worth of working, not durable. Overall it worked great until it went out.

purchased to replace the blown factory sub in a 2004 Expedition. Fit great and sounds good. Great bargain for the money

8 inch boss

I had bought this to replace my factory sub but hooked it up to my punch 500.1 bd not even turned a quater way up 250 rms at 2 ohms. I only turned the volume to 17 and it gave out. I have owned many different subs and it was my least faverite sub but im a bass head so sorry boss audio.

works good just dont push it

I bought 2 of these to replace the stock 8" speakers to get the mid bass, and they worked fine just running through the car stereo, but i hooked them to a weak 300 watt sony amp and one fried so i hooked the one thats still good back to the headunit until i can buy something that will take a little more power.

This is the worst sub ever I bought it figuring it would give a little bump with 200 rms and 400 peak until I got my 2 pioneer 12" championship pro series subs man was I wrong waste of $25 the 2 little 6 1/2 subs my friend has in his doors hit alot hard with barley any power going to then and I had a 150watt rms amp running to this sub and still no bass. waste of money.

I LOVE THIS SUBWOOFER BOSS REALLY DID A GREAT JOB DESIGNING IT... NOW I HAVE A 2000 MERCURY MOUNT..SUV REPLACED FACTORY SUB WITH BOSS AND STILL KEPT THE FACTORY AMP IT WORKED GREAT SO AGAIN THIS SUB DOES THE JOB....THANKS FOR READING WHAT I POSTED.

This was a total FAIL got the lanzer now that sounds great now i need a biger amp spend the 10 extra dollars

Speaker Failure

Installed this subwoofer in a sealed enclosure mounted in the truck. Bridged the amp to deliver 360 watts to the sub. Played the system once per week. After six short weeks the speaker began to "rattle" even though it was rated at 400 watts.

Good sub for the money

I bought this sub to replace a blown sub in a bass tube. It sounds good and works well. I appreciate the value. I would recommend it to someone looking to purchase an inexpensive sub.

USE A COIL TO KEEP IT DOWN TO 500 K AND IT WILL HANDEL MORE POWER AND DEEPER BASS AT LOUD VOL JBL IS GOOD ABOUT THIS WITH THERE CROSSOVERS.

Garbage sub

I've been installing car audio for over 10 years. I put this sub in the stock box of my Tahoe and powered it with a Kenwood amp giving it 150 watts RMS @ 4ohms. This sub blew while I was setting the gain. Seriously, it was less than than 60 seconds playing a 60hz test tone. The 200 watt RMS rating is a joke. I would send it back but shipping would be as much the sub cost in the first place. Very disappointed.
