Boston Acoustics 746

These speakers are crisp and clean, but I am a little disappointed in loudness. I will amp them soon so we'll see if that helps. Overall way better than the pioneer 4x6's i put in a few months back. don't quite fit will have to mod slightly to accommodate.

Fine speakers

Speakers are great, but I wish they came with grills.

An excellent replacement for OEM speakers in an 82 Vette

Speaker is a great value for it's sound reproduction. Fair bass response but can distort at higher volumes when loudness feature is engaged. Crisp highs and good mids. I replace the older 746's with these same speakers as fit and finish is perfect for application in an 82 Vette. Old BA 746's dry rotted and foam supports around cone disintegrated over time. This was probably associated with over exposure to sun light.

Best Speakers for the 4x6 size

They sound louder then a lot of subs if you amp them. I have a 200 watt amp pushing these lil beasts and i turn my sub off all the time and just run these being that they can keep up with the lows on my music. I guarantee if you buy them you will not be disappointed and plus there boston and they are the best.

Great Speakers

Great set of speakers, good power handling and natural sound.

Displeased

I was real excited when I first purchased these and installed them in my '94 Jeep Wrangler. I have had a BA home theater surround sound set up since 1993 and I've always been more than pleased with their products but in this case, I was beyond displeased when I tried to turn my stereo up past 10. The highs and mids are fantastic but if you try to turn it up loud enough to hear with the windows open or the top down, it distorts like crazy. If you plan on hooking these up to a sub-woofer then you will be ok but as stand alone speakers, they are not worth the money.
