Great sound!

The following review is for a previous version (S85).

Great sound, Clear and Crisp. Quality and loud sound, even without an amp. I think they even sound better than my old Alpine Type S speakers. Would defiantly buy again, especially with Sonic Electroix's prices.

Boston Acoustics S85 for my Mazda 6

The following review is for a previous version (S85).

I would definitely recommend this product. I have heard a lot about getting an amp to make it even better so I can't wait to do that but for now they sound great. They're very clear sounding and they were easy to install. Definitely two thumbs up!

Great value

The following review is for a previous version (S85).

Great sound. A huge improvement over stock speakers. Good power handling without distortion. I wouldn't use them for over 25 watts or so.

Boston Acoustics S85

The following review is for a previous version (S85).

I just bought these for my boyfriend and got them in yesterday and we installed them in his '08 Mazda 6 tonight. They sound great! Way more clear than the factory ones he had and it doesn't get distorted until almost max volume. There's more bass as well. I'm so happy with this product and I can't wait until I can get him an amp to make it that much better. Overall, thumbs up!

Great speaker for my Ranger/Mazda B

The following review is for a previous version (S85).

I replaced all 4 of the factory 6 X 8's with these speakers along with other upgrades. I am very happy with these speakers and would recommend them. They are "bright" which I like but the addition of a relatively inexpensive ($150) Boss 1200, low profile 10 inch powered subwoofer really rounded out the sound. Mind you this is not a "rattle the license plate" system but the combination of the S85's for the mid and highs and the sub handling the low frequencies, it sounds pretty darn good for a inexpensive system.

Great sound

The sound on these speakers is amazing, not much bass comming out of them but what do you expect with 6x8's its crisp and clear on my ford ranger. Great speakers by far.

nice clean mellow speakers

I like the Boston Acoustic sound. Clean, balanced, full range, and not too harsh. A huge upgrade from the Ford paper cones in my motorhome.

better than factory door speakers

I bought a set of these boston door speakers and had them installed in my 2000 ford ranger xlt xcab (4-door) and they sound a whole let better than my factory door speakers. They also sound really nice with the aftermarket Alpine CDE-125BT thats in my ranger.

Nice Upgrade

Just installed 4 in my 2011 Ranger Sport. Big difference between these and the stock speakers. Much deeper bass and better highs. I am still running the stock head unit but still a bog improvement. Great speaker for the price!!

Good speaker

I installed these in my Mazda 3 sedan last night.
The install took me about 30 minutes as I have done this many times. I was looking to simplify my soundstage by replacing the Pioneer 4 way 6x8's with these SE85's.

I already have Polk DB tweeters in the kick pannels so I thought the 4 ways might be a bit much for my front sound stage. I am using a kenwood kac-8402 to run my highs and I have an Infinity reference 611a paired up to two 12" JVC Aresenals. The Polk Tweeters and SE85's are wired in parralel sharing 90 watts RMS @ 2 ohms. I have my HPF set at 70 hz on my Kenwood amp LPF on the infinity set to around 80-90 HZ.

At lower volumes the Bostons are stellar but they don't handle the power as well as my old Pioneers (50w RMS 240 max) nor do they hit as hard for midbass. Maybe they just need to broken in, but I doubt it. The SE85's are rather lightweight with a smaller magnet when compared to my Pioneer 4 ways.

Overall great sound but not as potent as a high power rating speaker in midrange frequency's.

Good Value

I bought Boston Acoustics SE85 and Kenwood KFC-C5793PS. The Boston speakers had better bass sound and overall better sound then the Kenwood speakers.
