I needed something to add to the 8" sub I replaced in the factory location. The sub was okay, just need a little more thump, and also using the factory amplifier. I had a 12" box and added this dual 4ohm voice coil. The 8" was a dual voice coil also. I add this 12 and wired it down to 2ohm and wired it in. About 3/4 volume , the amp went into protect mode. So I rewired this sub in series and wired it back in. It added the perfect amount of bass with using what I had, and now I still have room and just a little more bass.
