Nice little Vega! Updated 1/3/2024

I used to own dual 12 inch Vegas about 18 years ago, those were some beasts! I’m glad to see that the quality is the same or even better than I remember. This little sub hits more like a 10. I can get good deep clear bass in a small sealed factory enclosure (2016 equinox) using the NVX BDA7501 to power it which has been a wonderful set up so far. This sub will not be a window breaker like a 12 or 15 but will really add some depth to your music.

Killed this Vega about six months in, most likely my fault in all honesty for pushing to much power. I couldn’t beat on these like I was able to with the vega’s of old which was disappointing . If you want to add some depth on a budget with a lower power system this will work, if you plan on pushing more then about 150watts I would steer clear. Again blown sub was on me for pushing the power limits, but I was only flirting around the claimed 250watts rms.

IB Surprise

Despite the many loving the performance of this sub in conventional enclosures, I have personally tested these with a Dayton DATS v3 and found the specs to be quite different than stated. However, the specs places these subs as ideal for IB which is how I decided to use them and with much delight. Good kick, robust upper response with a natural sounding lower bass that extends well without the help of a subsonic filter. Feed it half power in a rear deck and enjoy

Excellent subs

I chose two v82dv2 subs for their low 34hz fs and 13mm Xmax to use with a passive radiator setup under the rear seat of my Toyota pickup truck. They sound amazing tuned to 24hz and being pushed at 500-watt rms. I have a hard time believing it's only two 8" subwoofers. Good solid bass, volume, and sound quality. Works perfectly in the application with all types of music. Great classic Cerwin Vega look.

8 inch bass

These Cerwin Vegas have such a rich deep bass. They don't sound like 8 inch speakers at all they sound more like two 12 inch speakers. There a rumble through out of my car.

Solid output in an Infinite Baffle configuration

Built an IB manifold for three of these, that replaced the rear underfloor storage tub in my 2013 Ram Crew cab.
Would have went with four, but the OEM hole in the floor, that serves as the mouth of the manifold would start to choke off output, with the increased cone area.
Pic is from dry/test fit, before it got two coats of bedliner, and hydrophobic mesh from Mo-Flow Ventilation, added under the perforated Stainless sheet.

Wired to 3ohm running off of a Stereo Integrity SIQ-1500.1, so they're each getting roughly 250 watts, which is plenty for IB.
Haven't needed to push them close to hard enough to reach xmax, at normal listening levels.

Only complaint is one of the coil jumpers was really loose, but only in the position I wasn't using, so no worries.

Overall very happy with the purchase.
Smooth output, and relatively low extension, at the $100/each price point is hard to beat.
