Just like the 70s - epic speakers for the price

I run a 7.1 system with 6 of these VE-12F's (paired up with 1 Cerwin Vega VE-28S and 1 Klipsch RC-64C. All powered by a Yamaha RX-V665. Input from a Mac Mini running a Belkin FireWave sound card).

I can run the front 2 VE-12F's by themselves and there is no need to have a subwoofer. You can easily run an awesome 2.0 system with a pair of these and no sub. I've run them that way before too, and they didn't disappoint. The properly large 5.25" midrange spills out the vocals, guitars and snares crisply and is matched up with great highs from the 1.25" tweeter. The 12" woofers hit hard and low.

Pros: I've tested them in a medium-sized room (13'-16'), and wow they sounded amazing. These definitely sound best in a medium or large-sized room.
Cons: I'm in a small-sized room (11'x13') and the sound isn't very full.

Bottom line: You simply can't beat sound and quality like this for such a steal of a price. I would highly recommend them. Don't let the paper-cone woofer design fool you, they made woofers this way in the 70s for a reason: the bass bumps. The speaker with its red woofer foam looks awesome too, you can't deny. The VE-12F is a great investment.
