Chinese manufactured garbage made by a garbage brand. Cerwin-Vega doesn't back their products. Amp died after 3 months of light playing.
Amp died after 3 months. Maybe a total of 50 hours of running.
Bought on Amazon and CerwinVega refuses to repair it after 3 months of ownership.
This dinosaur of a company would rather take a hit to their reputation and lose sales than take care of their customers.
Amp probably costs $50 to them? But instead of replacing it, they'd rather piss off their customers. This "smart" move used to work before the days of the internet, but not anymore. Obviously they're banking on their name, but how long will that last?
So ask yourself, do you really want to buy a product from a company like this?
In the meantime, I called up Amazon and told them what happened, how CerwinVega refused to repair it, and they refunded me in full. I don't even need to return the sub to them! That's great customer service!
Dinosaur companies like CerwinVega need to learn a thing or two from Amazon. Or they just need to die off like other dinosaurs.
Even if you buy the sub here at SonicElectronix, think long and hard first, because if you initiate a warranty return from dinosaur CerwinVega, and IF they approve the return, you have to pay for the shipping! And that's going to cost you at least $60!
If you really do your research, you'll notice that this sub is not 12". It's actually 11". And it's manufactured by a white label firm out of China. All CerwinVega does is slap their label on it (and so does JBL for that matter).
Sonically it sounds pretty good. Frequency response tests show it dies at around 30Hz. It's pretty accurate, but a little sluggish and muddy.
It fits inside my 2016 BMW X5M spare after taking out the trunk floor strut, and using a custom threaded rod that's longer than the stock rod.
Luckily I live near a top audio electronics repair shop. I'm going to take apart the sub housing and take the amp out and get it repaired. They probably used cr*ppy amp components, so I'll get them swapped out. Maybe doing that will improve the sound as well.

Great idea...
that wished would’ve worked in my GTI...I need my hatch space. Unfortunately, it did not fit into the spare tire after following the manufacturer’s directions. The concept is ideal. I never powered it up after seeing the improper fitting. The ONLY way it would fit is if I REMOVED the spare....not a sensible option! ????
Nevertheless, it was shipped and received quickly. The return was hassle-free. Though this purchase didn’t pan out, there’s a reason I stick with SonicElectronix: The prices are good and the folks are helpful.

Exceeded expectations
I installed this in a 2018 Mustang GT, the fitment wasn't a straight fit since the Mustangs don't have a spare tire. However, after installing and getting it to fit the sound exceeded my expectations on the bass that I thought would come out of this subwoofer. It complemented the stock stereo system perfectly. Definitely a great way to round out the sound. Very happy with this purchase.

Amazed! Way better than expected!
Awesome fit, looking at it, you would never know there was a system. Powerful full bass. I didn't mind bug boxes as a young kid but they are not practical... This is the best of both worlds.

Unbelievable product that delivers
A self contained powerful amp/woofer that is easy to install and more than delivers in sound quality! More than happy with this purchase. I cannot believe the sound that comes from such a compact design. Only one thing to mention is that when installing it in my spare tire, it sits just a couple inches higher than the tire itself and will not allow me to put the trunk bed floor on top (level). I will have to make a modification to lift the floor a couple inches to accommodate the subwoofer but in my opinion, worth the effort.

Solid construction
Heavy duty feeling in a low profile, hidden sub. Easy to install and take out.

I love this sub
This subwoofer was easy to install on a stock stereo in a BMW x5, went right in the spacetime with room to spare. The sound is perfect and is adjustable with the remote. It really completes the stock Harman Kardon stereo.
