Still a good platform to start with
I purchased the 148gtl to replace one that was stolen years ago,I have other radios but not with sideband capability. Yes as others say it does not perform well out the box like the older side mic versions but it will tune well with the right tech. I have owned my new version of this old classic for over a year with no problems and tons of great local and dx responces. The reciever is still the best as others have tried to copy it. If you want an easy nofrills get it done unit at a good price it is still an item to make the top 10 list.
