Dual SD12

This is a good sub for a small system. At first the suspension is very stiff but over time it will loosen up and this woofer be at it full potential. I have had mine for a year now and it sounds great, i only have it running on about 110 watts and it is awesome, especially for only 30 bucks. Just the other day i played some test tones from 5hz-70hz. The woofer took it like a champ, I heard no distortion and at the end of the 30 min test the coil wasnt even warm!

dual sd12

I have one on a dual 400 max amp running at 150 end and yes they hit hard and sound great but if you run it like I did it will blow and I have had it for a month now not a good idea.

Great pricepoint & sound

Worth it, if you can find them. These that I am using are the 150 watt version (they are discontinued, but can be found on Ebay, and on closeout at O'reilly Auto Parts). I have 2 - 12" in the 150 watt (300 max) hooked up to a Dual XPE2700 amp, and it is plenty of power to drive them. I don't listen to hip-hop usually...mostly rock, techno, and country. These subs kick just fine, using the low-pass band and frequency switch on the amp. Also with the gain about 20% on the dial. These are in a full size Dodge Ram QuadCab, and can EASILY be heard & felt. I have another XPE4700 amp driving the door and dash speakers....but these subs make up for it. Just don't use any amps higher than 300 or 400 watts on these.

Bang4TheBuck

Running 2 of these in a ported box (1.68 ft3) & 50hz and these things slam. Running a 600W rms amp about halfway up and they hit hard with no distortion or burning smell. Best bang 4 the buck ever. Can be heard several houses away shaking windows. You will like it for a more entry level system

Dual sd12

This sub is alright. I'd rather my old school MTX Thunder 8000 12"s, but it's a good deal. I've got mine in a "Frankenbox" 4 order bandpass bridged on a "dual" 400w amp and it sounds pretty decent for what it is (a value sub), but I'm sure my box is doing a lot if not most of the work.

Worst "sub" ever!

This sub sucked, I had it for a while but hadn't hooked it up till about a month ago. I finally got it hooked up, was working fine, I was loving it then all of a sudden I had no bass on my way home work. I got home and checked it out but it was a loose wire, no big deal. I got that fixed then it stopped again. One of the wires completely blew up (yes they were the right gauge.) My friend fixed it about a week later, worked for another day then I checked again. Everything looked right till I took the sub out of the box. The wire that comes on the sub had been shredded! I was pissed but my friend said he would fix it, but he doesn't/didn't have the time to fix it. I finally decided to test the durability. I wanted to see if it would be able to handle the hit from a pickaxe straight to it. My thoughts were going to be no it definitely wont be able to handle it. It took the first shot like a champion, the second was a little more damaging, as in everything was smashed and that people is why you should buy a dual sd12 subwoofer.

best sub for under 50 bucks!!!

i have one of these dual 12" subs and it sounds great...the best thing about it is its cheap and will sound good in any box you put it in its better then most name brand entry level subs..only con about this sub it the terminal hook ups mine broke so i had to wire it straight to wire going into the coil but still works great...i would recommend this sub over any other brand for daily bassing ive had it on several amps sounds best on sony explod's or even a autotek 1000 rt 2 channel amp bridged so dont be afraid to buy it.

ok cheap sub

Not a bad sub if your on a strict budget or only want a lil extra bass. i had one of these in a prefab box pushing it with a 125rms off brand amp and it hit pretty hard in my 93 blazer. Not too bad. Shook the mirrors. I was definitely impressed. ordered some new subs and amp off ebay and the amp came in first. It was a 1000 watt crunch 2 channel. I hooked it up to this sub just to see how it would fair and was greatly impressed!! 2 of these with a decent 1000 watt amp and a good box will definitely give you good bass at a cheap price. I plan on building a system for my old ladys car with two of these in a ported box with a 1100 watt boss monoblock amp.

2 dual subs= $60
1000 watt pyramid amp= $50
prefab box= $45
nice cheap bass= priceless

for $30...not bad! (made for simple upgraded sound) I love it!

If your looking to add a subwoofer to your automobile and your not wanting crazy shaking apart your car and you just want better sound with a little thump. then this is the sub for you...it can still saddle your vehicle a little bit! It'll add that bass...but your not going to be winning any competitions with it...it hits pretty low considering how much it is...I would recommend this subwoofer if you looking just to upgrade your audio system...if your looking to blow out your windows...then move on but this subwoofer defentaly adds bass with a good sound...it hasn't distorted with me and I always push this sub.

was great for the price

bought one to put in an s10 and it was great for the price. had it hooked up to a 300w amp and it sounded as nice as the 2 Kenwood's it replaced. I'd defiantly buy another. I had it for a year and a half and sold it shortly after I sold the truck.

(The Big Bang) speaker!!!

I totally recommend these speakers to all bass heads and anyone out there these babies will handle 450 rms total and 1500 peak no lie, this is one of the best deals on sonic the dual speaker is also made from the finest materials too so it will beat hard and for a long time!!! no worries about it falling apart!! GREAT BUY!!! Had mine going for 2 years now, everyday lol and still going hard at least 2 hours a day

needed some upgrade

Now before you guys say anything, I'm not really into those big systems and very loud bass. I bought this for musical enjoyment and for some bass, its very clear to me its loud enough for me and its also a bang for your buck.

Great!

My last set of subs was two 10" alpines. I then got a new car and purchased just one of these Duals with a 400 watt dual amp to go with it. I didnt want to spend much so i didnt. This sub is more than enough for me with little to no distortion whatsoever. No matter what all the 'bass heads' say about how dual sucks. this sub BUMPS. end of story.

Best Bang for the Buck!

My friend has two of these with a 1000 watt acoustic amp and they pound!!! Definitely as good as my Kicker 12"s. I was blown away when he said he bought these for the price.

Dual !!

I got this sub in my 94 Accord in a bandpass box connected to an old school Rockford Fosgate 350 watt amp and man this sub bumps and I'm over powering it since sub is 175 RMS.. For 30 bucks its a deal, if your new to systems I recommend this sub

Good sub

I really recomend this sub it says it can hit 25 hz but it can go to 10 hz easy the bad thing about it is that is leaks air so you might need to put some silicon on the sub whe you put it in a box I have it on a 540 watt RMS amp and it sounds good

Junk

Any body that says these subs are good, obviously hasnt heard top of the line. These are garbage. The only reason I'd buy them is to blow them. Crappiest sounding sub I've heard.

Below Entry Level

This sub barely fits into entry level sub. If you wanted to get this sub for your first sub, don't. Go over to kicker for your first system. Then move up once you learn what is good like Alpine, Cerwin Vega, RF, JL, Digital Designs, Asendent Audio. Only person I would reccomend this sub to is someone I hate.

This sub blows

Get what you pay for, plane and simple. Got it in a Q logic box. ported. perfect specs all around. just sounds cheap, it's like an old 80's boom box.

Blown Away

I put 2 of these in a custom ported box that I made and was really blown away when I hooked them up to my Kenwood 740w amp. I managed to break off my rear view mirror with them in my 4 door blazer. my friends tell me that its louder than my other friends kicker comp 1000w set up he had.

Only down fall is the foam surround, it gives plenty of movement, but who knows how long it will bne untill it starts to deterriorate. and it doesnt put out the higher frequencies that well, but those are normally annoying anyways, and its got killer lows and kicks real hard.

I definitely recommend these for anyone wanting to show people up on a budget.

Surprising Performance

So a friend of mine tosses me this beat up, raggedy looking bandpass enclosure containing 2 Dual SD12's. My first thought was "Gee thanks bro, a set of blown out Walmart specials eh?" The enclosure was trash but the voice coil seemed fine in the speakers and there was no visible damage. So I decided to try my hand at building an enclosure, and constructed a 27-in x 14 in x 10 in sealed enclosure with an internal volume of 1.76 cubic feet with an internal center divider creating two separate chambers. I found an old Kicker CXA400.1D Mono Hi/Lo Input Amp in my garage which pumps out an RMS of 150w@4 Ohms, 300w@2 Ohms, and 400w @ 1 Ohm, wired the subs parallel to eachother then from on sub to a single input cup creating a 2 Ohm load at the amp. Man was I surprised when powered it up, set the gain using a 50 Hz -0dB sine wave, then hooked up my enclosure and played a frequency response sweep from 200Hz to 20Hz. These things pumped out a silky smooth transition of bass from 110Hz to 30Hz without flattening out at all, and from 80Hz to 30Hz I could feel the air I was breathing in vibrating. Factory 2003 Honda Accord V6 Coupe radio, hi level input from the left and right rear speaker wires. I recommend these absolutely for a budget system.
