Works well
Kit worked as intended. Easy installation.

Horrible, but no choice with older JVC head unit.
I hate this unit. I bought this plus the CNPJVC1 to fit my JVC deck.
First of all it needs to be programmed to the particular head unit. This should be pretty straight forward, but it's far from it. The website which is listed as the site to download drivers no longer exists. So after hours of searching I found the new site voxxintl.com/xmdirect. However, the programming "ONLY" works if Microsoft Explorer is your default browser (My default browser is Firefox) Arrgg!!!! So, from the site I just provided, you must download the software packet. The rest of the programming details are listed on the website.
The connectors are very flimsy, and there is no explanation on how to make the 12V connection. After some research I found that the yellow wire + the inline fuse need to be connected to the 12v constant from the deck. The black wire should be grounded.

XM Tuner Integrates with JVC Head Unit
This tuner works well in conjunction with my JVC head unit. There are three sets of preset channels (6 stations each) with this installation. It was installed in a 2011 Honda Civic.
The instructions are quite explicit about mounting the XM satellite antenna on the top of the car, not inside or on the dashboard. My installer found a neat way to install the antenna on the roof, just above the point where the rearview mirror attaches to the windshield. The antenna is much smaller than the one on my previous 2005 Civic with factory Nav/XM unit, about 3.5cm on a side. The antenna is hardly noticeable on top of the car, even though it's in front. Reception is excellent, better than the XM in my previous car.

I couldn't get it to work.
I wound-up using a standard Sirius receiver into a four channel mixer then into the aux jack. I use the other channels for other aux channel inputs to the radio. Cool.

Works Great... just a little confussion included.
This device works great on my fancy JVC stereo. I had to read a lot to figure out how all these different adapters (HD ready, Bluetooth ready, Sat ready...etc) work.
However, the instructions are misleading. You must have 32bit Windows XP to program the adapter to match your stereo connections. The adapter cable you purchase separately is only the beginning. The order is this: 1. Go to Audiovox.com to get program and install it. 2. Connect SAT adapter and apply driver. 3. Run SAT adapter update (like firmware) that tells your adapter how your brand-name car stereo thinks. It is simple but the online instructions are a bit out of order. WinXP 64Bit will give driver errors!!! Had to whip out the ancient laptop with 32bit XP on it. But it works!

Works Great, need windows XP!!!!
First, YOU MUST HAVE ACCESS TO A COMPUTER WITH WINDOWS XP. XP is the only platform that works, not Vista, not 7, just XP.
With that said, the programming is simple. Install the software from the given site, open it, connect the module via given USB cable, and click on your head units info and click program. Connect the XM Module and specific cable to the Audiovox module, plug it into your head unit, activate it, and enjoy.
I had no problems with it, except the Windows XP issue, it works great, and the install was easy. Just remember to program the module before you install it.

Really average
Reception is really average. Programming it can be a pain if you're not computer savvy.

Looses signal
I have this on my Jensen head unit. Constantly have to unplug it to restet it. Not sure if it's the xm mod or the head unit with the issue.

XM Direct 2 Connector Module
The only problem that I am having for the second time is this XM Direct losing it connections with my JVC car system and I had to go back to B*** B** twice to have them reset it. The tech suggested placing a switch on the XM Direct system so in case it goes out again I can reset the sytem using he switch, but it is annoying that this is happening but it sounds great.

Poor Tech Support
When the unit arrived, it would not allow me to download the firmware from XM to make the unit work. After phone calls and transfers to Audiovox, they decided it was a defective cable and sent out a new one. Low and behold, it was the cable. Then I had to call back because my radio was so new it wasn't on the list of firmware downloads. Again, depending on which tech I spoke with, I was either out of luck and there was no way it would work, or I was told to try a random radio code. Alas, after inputing the first radio code I tried, it worked like a champ! Great product (once you get parts that work)........poor support. My rating reflects the broken product and multiple phone calls. If I was rating the product alone after I got it to work, I'd give it a 5 out of 5. A LOT of effort to make a "plug and play" system work.

Not as expected.
The unit was easy to install, however it required Windows XP to program.
I had to borrow a computer that still had XP on it to do the programming. In use it receives channel as expected. The problem I have fond is that when i turn off the Car/radio and then turn it back on the satellite tuner has jumped three stations. So,if I am listening to channel 77, whe I turn it back on it is on channel 80. To try to reprogram it i would have to borroww another computer with XP.

Great GPS Unit!
I was looking for an inexpensive double din GPS unit for my truck. Most GPS units start in the $500 and above range. The cheaper ones are for mostly no-name brands that were a little sketchy. I saw this Eclipse unit and was a little skeptical also. Upon checking reviews, I found out it is made by Fujitsu (bought my first laptop from them).
Installation was pretty straight forward. If you have ever installed a stereo before, it is pretty simple. 8 wires for speakers (2 front, 2 back), ground wire, always on +12 and switched +12. That's about it - there are a few more if you want to hook up illumination control, steering wheel remote, etc, but I did not use those. The only other things you need to plug in are the antenna cable and the GPS antenna.
So far this stereo/GPS works great. It even has bluetooth, so my phone is hooked up and I can make/receive calls hands free. GPS is based on the TomTom brand and the GPS unit can be detached from the stereo to use as a stand alone GPS or so it will not be stolen. The stereo will still work without the GPS in place - it even has a small readout that tells you the station you are on!
The only extra thing you need to buy is the Eclipse Ipod cable - plugging the ipod into the USB adapter will not work. Plus it allows you to play videos from your ipod on the stereo screen.
Great unit for the price - it has features that units that cost 4 times as much have.

Excellent for price!
Installed a few months ago, great unit. My only complaint is I can't always scroll through my list on the iPod. Other than that it is an excellent head unit and navigation.

Nice for the price
A nice affordable unit, install was very easy, however I did not use all of the features (back up camera). It's nice that the shaped sensor does not have to be hooked up as you can use unit in older cars. iPod control is not the greatest but it works. Maps are from 2007.

Unit is ok, could be much better
My wife and up got this unit for our new Subaru Forester, and we are not impressed.
The user interface for both, the mp3 cd and usb files is minimalistic, the gps data input is touchy, radio reception is ok, and speakers output power could be higher.
Our biggest complain is the turn by turn voice instructions. It constantly goes mute, and the only way to follow the gps is by looking at the screen. This can be temporarily fixed by removing and reinserting the gps unit.
The price is great, but for about $100.00 or so, one can get a much better unit.
I'd not recommend this unit.

Not too bad
It seems to be a good value for the cost. It does have a couple of features I do like better than other brands. The rest of it seems to operate flawlessly. Some things are not as straight forward as they could be but once you get use to it, it all OK. The Blue-Tooth capability is limited so you need to make sure your product is compatible if that is important to you. I've only had it for a relatively short period of time so I don't know about it's durability yet. Over all, A good buy.

Eclipse AVN4430
I was highly impressed with the services provided by Sonic Electronix, they were prompt and courteous in their responses, and the products that they sold me was outstanding. I am truly ecstatic with the performance of their auto entertainment. The DVD, but particularly the auxiliary option was so dynamic. I was able to play from my ipad, & ipod.
Overall, I will gladly recommend this product, or any product marketed by Sonic Electronix for that matter to anyone. They have won my confidence and respect.

Eclipse IPC-409
I have had know problems with this deck. It is very easy to use all the features The GPS works great. The CD and DVD player plays both very nice. I really have not ran into any problems with it to list as a con. I was a little nervous at first since every other unit with all of the features this one has cost at least double but so far Eclipse has built a great product I would recomend it to anyone.

Horrible Unit
This is perhaps the worst head unit I have ever owned. The GPS is from 2007 updates are needed right away and it cost money to upgrade. Blutooth is awful when used with iPhone 4 no volume adjustment is available. Over all sound is muddled, music sounds like someone put a heavy blanket over the speakers and control of iPod is poor. The whole concept is great but so poorly implemented. It is so bad I had pulled it out of my new 2012 Subaru Forester and put in a Pioneer AVIC-D3 that was from a 2007 Honda Civic car of mine. Right away the sound improved and the Forester does not have very good speakers in it. Run away fast from this model.

Works great!
I have the avn-4430 installed in my 1996 Celica for about 5 days now. I could not be happier with the unit or the service from Sonic. First thing i did was to update the maps on the pnd. I don't watch Dvds in car so i don't care about that feature but i tried it and it works as advertised. Bluetooth calling works good but sometimes the voice just sounds too bad on the speakers, i dont know if its because of a bad cell connection or shoddy bluetooth connection. Another thing to note is that it does not have A2DP, so it won't stream audio, just bluetooth calling. Also, phone calls and directions are in single channel only so the sound comes from only one side of the car, Unit pauses the music when speaking directions if you are playing cd, usb etc, but not on FM radio. A small glitch that i can live with but to be noted nonetheless. Another thing to note is that it does not have auxiliary in. I am trying to figure a way out around it. Overall value wise, could not be happier. This unit was a perfect fit for my car and everybody who sees it is impressed. Sounds much better than my older jvc. You won't get better value on in dash navigation anywhere else.

Great sound from the AVN-4430
Had a JVC unit in my dash, but wanted built-in nav fratures at a good price. This unit is superb, sounds even better than the JVC Bongiovi unit, and way better than the factory stereo. Unit is easy to hook up, only extra I installed was the antenna for the nav, does not seem to need any other sensor wires for accurate location.
As for the sound, I am hearing details I have never heard before on my MP3s. The voice feature on the nav is handy, as is the ability to use the nav away from the car. Add built-in Bluetooth, and you cannot go wrong with this unit. A great chance to own a unique car stereo.

Good value for the price.
I replaced my existing 7-inch multimedia head unit without a nav which I found somewhat useless when you need to go to a place not familiar with.
Well, thanks Sonic for selling this at this price.
For me this unit is pretty and and really go well with my Honda Pilot.
The screen is removable and can be used by itself. The nav is very accurate and can be updated easily. Except for a lane guidance (which the unit doesn't have) I think it has everything that most expensive ones have.
Although its screen is only 4.3", I did not miss the 7" screen of the previous unit.
The ipod/iphone interface have some inconveniences but does not bother me at all. Like your settings will not be remembered once you remove your key from the car. And, something like it limits your ability to look for your music files beyond a set amount while the parking brake is not engage as what other owners have noted. However, you can still select the playlist and the shuffle mode.
For the video, if you have an overhead video screen you can connect this unit to it and even though the screen is blank when the car is moving, the passenger on the back can still watch the movie.
When your in the radio or Ipod mode the screen is simple white with just the info of what is playing. The time is in small characters at the upper right corner.
I tested the bluetooth connected to my blackberry and its very clear on both ends.
So far, I did not regret buying this head unit. And it does worked for me.
I hope this review like what others did, can help anyone to decide if this unit is for you or not.

Pretty good for the money
Well I can honestly say for the money it's a great little unit! I also love the fact we can use the tom tom in rental cars or any other car away from this unit. It has all the features you would want in a unit. However, the menus aren't very intuitive. It takes a while to figure out where everything is in this unit. Once you get it all figured out though we haven't had any issues. For a unit under $300 this thing really has all you need.

AVN-4430 for CR-V
Great product for the price. I consider it an easy instillation, although having wire connectors on hand is a plus. The kit provided worked perfectly. The Tom Tom unit responds better to touch than my Tom Tom VIA. I was able to install Tom Tom Home to update the unit. Disappointed that the blue tooth does not connect to my Lg Dare. Have not installed the back up camera yet. Note: make sure you connect all the wires available including the antenna wire. At first, I did not connect the blue wire out of the antenna thinking it was a ground wire.

Economy model/steering control issue
I tried this unit with my '07 Tacoma. The unit itself is ok for the price. The Axxess/ASWC steering wheel control adapter DID NOT WORK. The Axxess company rep was very helpful in trying to resolve the problem; but apparently, this unit had not been tested and just didn't work with the controls - even when I tried to manually program it.
The unit itself is not to user friendly. The most annoying discovery was that canceling a trip is hidden by default (you can change this). I tried the unit on an hour long trip and mistakenly hit home early on and had to hear 'Susan' keep telling me to turn around. The only way to change this setting and cancel is to stop and shut off the vehicle. Once you change it, it's ok. Some of the safety features (not allowing ipod to scroll down, and not playing dvd while driving) have value, but cannot be disabled. This can be frustrating (especially ipod control) when a passenger is trying to scroll. I get not distracting the driver, but their should be an override for a passenger to be able to use the unit without restrictions.

Disapointing
I have had this unit in my car for about 1 year.
- No support or updates
- TomTom is not as good as Garmin, not even close
- Limited Bluetooth, calls only
- Half the time the touch screen doesn't work, especially after it has been on a while
- Should have had an external Microphone, sometimes especially when fan is on high people can't here.
- Video screen not very good and hard to see at all in bright light
It does have good sound
